  1. I’m sure the answers will be in here somewhere http://www.napier-chronicles.co.uk/index.html From memory the allocations were static through the 1970s, with just 6 of the 8 FP racehorses going to York when Finsbury Park closed, with the other two having been withdrawn beforehand.
  2. I’m not - they were a different vehicle type that were used on similar services before the Newton Chambers were built.
  3. The 25/3 were built with the boiler room ventilation grilles, depsite not having boilers. These were usually covered over with a plate, but around the late 1970s a number had the grilles replaced with sheet metal let into the bodysides, like this at no.2 end.
  4. No class 45s were built with the single central head code panel, they were all later alterations starting with the Brush refurbishments in 1965.
  5. Sounds like that may have been a Rugby Special, there is one listed on Six Bells Junction around this period, but originating from Leeds.
  6. I think strictly 'The Highwayman' only ran in 1970 and 1971, and was routed via the Durham coast/Sunderland. There may have been a successor which was called something else, or not named at all.
  7. and this one near Princes Risborough on the old Chinnor branch.
  8. Thanks Ben, I suspected the TMC LEs were a factor for the general split headcode examples, and it is entirely fair and reasonable of you to give them chance to sell through. I shall bide my time.
  9. Indeed, but none yet announced, which does beg the question 'Why not?'
  10. Some standard split-box Peaks might be a better bet first. Or maybe TMC have an exclusivity period for their special editions?
  11. I don't think it is a great comparison to be honest. The Titanic disaster has a 50 year headstart on the Great Train Robbery, and it was only since the mid-1990s, as the last survivors passed away, that the rampant commercialisation has taken off and the associated developments have materialised in Belfast. I guess the same point will come in the GTR story, but perhaps we all not there yet? Hypothetical question - Would it be ok for a manufacturer to produce the locos from the Quintinshill rail disaster, and market it as such?
  12. Yes and me! But is it a commission? And if so, where do we get it?
  13. Any chance of some photos of the Heljan 104 from Warley? Some great photos posted of the TCVs and 47s, so I know it's there on the stand....
  14. D1960 in the early style BFYE - who's that being made for? It's hasn't been announced AFAIK?
  15. So, as the CFPS link has been confirmed, why are they doing it? Is there any element of fund raising for the society? Or do the members just want specific preservation era models to buy for themselves? As usual with KR Models there are more questions than answers, and the whole announcement seems rushed, with marketing copy not even properly proof read.
  16. Who says it’s not? Previously you had to pay in part before the model was produced, I assume this is the case here too.
  17. Is this in association with the CFPS? The advert seems to indicate that, but the website makes no mention of it. They do seem to be making 40135 twice, all with duel speakers as mentioned above, and no they weren’t all built by EE. Great start KR! It’s not like any of these details matter for a crowd funded project, that you can buy a Bachmann version of right now, My bargepole is to hand.
  18. Both actually, as well as Newcastle and Edinburgh to Newton Abbot over the years.
  19. And here at Kensington Olympia with a Western, arriving from Newton Abbot. https://www.rail-online.co.uk/p138684853/h7e54f8aa#h7e54f8aa https://www.rail-online.co.uk/p708567963/h3ee5d87e#h3ee5d87e
  20. It seems some of the late surviving examples e.g. 99294/5/9 had blue roofs again towards the end of service, underneath all the grime. They were worked pretty hard over the years, with it seems all 14 diagrammed during the summer period in 1969. This was the only year they worked in and out of Kensington Olympia on Fridays and Saturdays from Newton Abbot.
  21. Excellent choice. I was wondering why a number of Southern Pride kits were finding their way onto ebay....
  22. Until about Nov/Dec 1980 it seems, so 12 months since overhaul. The were others with blanked off headlight for a period too.
  23. 50006 was LLB by Feb 1984. So the range for this model is from late 1979 to then. By and large I think the MUs were fitted en-masse over the winter of 1969 leading up to the spring 1970 ready for the timetable change. In many cases the D prefix was dropped at the same time.
