  2. If you use a BR liveried coach or two/three you could use a 4575 class auto fitted Prarie instead?Tim T Modelling Cwm Cynon in EM
  3. I I would expect it to be Warley although it could be Ally Pally? One thing to bear in mind is the involvement of Peco so this could influence which one. Tim T
  4. Looking at these raises a question. The models are fitted with non-wr pattern lamp irons. Did this also apply to those allocated to the Western Region? TIA Tim T Modelling Cwm Cynon in EM
  5. Dear dr g-f, old age comes to all of us eventually, just ask our illustrious leader CliveDucks quick to avoid flying brickbats....... Tim T
  6. To reiterate what I posted earlier, ONLY if the wiring is suitably sized to carry the current needed without getting warm. Tim T
  7. On reading the original post you are worried about things catching fire. Are you seriously using wiring that is so under rated that it is going to get that hot? If the wiring is getting even warm to the touch it is too small and should be rplaced! Tim T
  8. Panic buying???Surely RMWeb members wouldn’t resort to that Oh, I forgot about Hornby Railroad Collett Coach bodies being hoovered up by a member in Ontario........ Tim T
  9. Having read Jason’s response I may be interested for a GWR 2721.PM me Tim T Modelling Cwm Cynon in EM
  10. I’ve just trawled through the Mike Sharman wheell “bible” and he does not list such a combination of diameter/spokes/crankpin alignment at all! Goodness knows what it is intended for? Tim T
  11. Where did you obtain this paint, good sir?Tim T Modelling Cwm Cynon in EM
  12. I’m typing this on an iPad so can’t insert links. Try pdc.ca, click on laser cut accessories and scroll down to the “Simple Switch Machine” I would try and add the instruction sheet but it’s not playing
  13. The title of this says it all. Have any members of this august forum ever managed to produce files for 3D printing using only an iPad? If so what app did you use? Tim T Modelling Cwm Cynon in EM
  14. A nice film about HULL?????? As a Son of the Broad Acres I was brought up on the saying “From Hull, Hell and Halifax Good Lord deliver us” Cheers Tim T
  15. Yes, really, and in Wiltshire! Just look at the history of the Devizes line. A single track that hosted DMU’s and a daily through Paddington to Bristol service via Trowbridge. Tim T
  16. You have to remember that all the early 25kV locos were designed as mixed traffic so could be put on the front of almost anything. Tim T
  17. How did the demonstrator fix the glazing to his models? TIA, Tim T Modelling Cwm Cynon in EM
  18. Thanks for your replies gents. The words in the three books I have that contain details of Falcon state that Brush did indeed base it on their class 31 so John’s observation that it is closer to a 31 than a 47 is well founded. So to summarise it seems that the A1 etches will form more of a “scratch aid” than a coversion. Time to “do a Clive” and get the plastcard out :^) Tim T Modelling Cwm Cynon in EM
  19. Just one point re the interior, brian777999. The levers should not be all the same colour but should be painted according to what they are controlling. Red for stop signals and shunt sighals Yellow for distant signals, Black for points and Blue for facing point locks. There are other colours but you don’t need to worry about them. 20. Following my posts under Clive Mortimore’s “Scratchbuilt Diesels” thread about wanting a model of “Falcon” but not being willing or able to fork out for a Heljan one, I’ve acquired one of these conversion kits on eBay. Unfortunatelly it didn’t come with any instructions! Q1) Does anyone have a set of instructions they could copy? Q2) What was the intended basis for the conversion? I am guessing it was a Class 47? TIA Tim T Modelling Cwm Cynon in EM
  21. Did South Walian locos only carry the Target Number on one end, changing it at the end of each run, or did they carry the trip number on both ends? Obviously photos only ever show one end :^) Tim T Modelling Cwm Cynon in EM
  22. I sense a touch of a pair of utensils for boiling water and a very dark paint colour here.......... Tim T
  23. Clive, the problem is that the university attendee has not permanently left.................... Trust me, I speak from direct experience. We are only now getting rid of the contents of his room into his newly purchased house. It’s only taken eight years since he left the first time! Tim T
