  1. I've actually sourced an Airfix/MW 1003 motor on Ebay. I will fettle up a front mount to use that in place of the X04. Tim T
  2. Jason, the only problem with the SEF adaptor is finding the D11/D13 motor to use it with - just looked on Ebay, zilch :^) Tim T
  3. Smokebox, I don't like 3-pole motors so want to avoid an X04 per se
  4. Dave (aka Chis) not having a lathe or milling machine I'm looking to avoid anything so drastic as milling/drilling/filing tim T
  5. Good morning, fellow RMWebbers. I have unearthed an old Sutherland/Cotswold GWR 42xx/72xx kit that is being transferred from "storage" to the "to do" queue as I approach retirement. The kit is complete apart from motor and gears and therein lies the problem. The milled brass chassis block is designed for an X04 motor. What would you suggest as a currently available (preferably 5-pole) substitute? TIA tim Tumber
  6. Anything is plausible, after all it's your railway In practice if the crew haven't signed for the road a driver who had signed for the road would accompany the regular crew as a "conductor" - they wouldn't attach a pilot engine, unless they needed to get one wherever the diversion was going. Doing that would save a separate traffic movement having to take place. Tim T (43 years on the Railway, finishing at christmas - yippee)
  7. So, if I'm reading the left hand side of the picture correctly I can run a Kernow SRM and tone of these together? Tim T
  8. Yes, his website seems to have gone belly-up. I believe he only sells direct but stand to be corrected. Regards Tim T

  10. It would help if we could actually see the photo Tim T
  11. The eight fold-down bits are the supports for the brakr gear. It is definitelly a six wheel tender. Can't help with the type as it's not a GWR one
  12. I believe the idea is to "spread" the rivet with something line a centre punch? BTW it helps to put a thin papre washer between the two parts so that you don't rivet things up tight Tim T
  13. If by type you mean spoked, mansell or plain, they're plain with 2 tiny weeny holes
  14. I recently purchased an unmade coach kit on a well-known auction site. It was described as EM gauge but when it arrived it had double the quantity of wheels, eight axles instead of four, and they are all P4, not EM. does anyone want them? £1 per axle and free postage PM me to acquire them Tim T
  15. As the formal Buy & Sell has now departed is there any informal way to offer things to fellow RMWebbers? I recently bought a coach kit on eBay that was advertised as having EM wheels. When it arrived it had double the quantity of P4 coach wheels! I therefore now have 8 axles of P4 14mm coach wheels that I have no use for. Any offers? Tim T
  16. RMWebbers I can now report that my order was waiting for me when I got home from work. Everything does come to those who wait but,oh, can he not polish his communication skills? No longer frustrated of Calne

  18. If you go back to before the Big Four you had GWR, MR, LNWR, Rhonda & Swansea Bay, Taff Vale (through running on R&SB). Between them they had four termini, High Street, Victoria, St Thomas & Swansea East Dock Tim T

  20. given the posts above it's a shame that I'm still awaiting my order placed back in April. Why can't he even respond to emails when that is one of his suggested methods of chasing up on order progress? I doubt if I will deal with him again if I ever get my order fulfilled Frustrated of Calne
  21. Re post #337, please tell the lurkers how you get on (or got on) putting the wheels in once you'd soldered everything up? Tim T
