  1. Re the frosted windows in the Bans's pub, anyone got any suggestions as to how to get that effect? In the era I model, South Wales before 1959, that's how it would have been. TIA Tim T
  2. first bet is that maligned site eBay? Closely followed by Amazon? Tim T
  3. How much of the original kit is going to make it into the final build? Curious of Calne
  4. Folks, back to searching. Just been on the Ultrascale website and he only lists two! Both for GWR 2-8-0s Tim T
  5. Jonathan, I’m not actually planning to “convert” an existing model but experiment with using them, suitably bushed, as the actual mainframes, if they do the ones that I want Tim T
  6. Thanks for that, it was the Ultrascale ones I was thinking of. not sure if I'll live long enough to receive any though! Tim T
  7. Gents, I've already done a few searches on RMWeb and also Uncle Google but drawn a blank with both. I have a vague memory that someone makes, or used to make, overlays for proprietary loco models to assist in re-gauging them to EM or P4 but can't remember who. Can any kind RMWeb-er assist an old and tired modeller with a fading memory?. (Thirty-one working days to retirement) Tim T
  8. Re post #8178 & the spamalicious video clip, was that a giesel fitted spam at about 2:45? Tim T
  9. Following on from my earlier post, whilst not ignoring lofty1966’s post, the K’s kit as supplied is for a Diagram A31 SRM conversion and then only the four rebuilt from the Gloucester bodied SRM’s, trailers #202 - 205. I suppose it depends on how one values your model. Do you keep it as the manufacturer intended or “bash” it into what you want? Tim T
  10. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on your viewpoint) Tennents brewery was in Glasgow, well away from Haymarket Och Aye the Noo
  11. Re post #476 and the "now" photograph, I wonder how much Pilkingtons bunged the architects/planning committee? Tim T
  12. As far as I can tell there are very few actual cars that can be modelled using the 'K's kit. As it has the double doors it represents a Gloucester build car, of which ther wee only a few. I'm at work so I don't have access to the Lewis books at the moment. Later I'll dig the info out Tim T
  13. Your computer skills may be “poor” in your words but you have a mind that is nimble enough to work out all that “cut and shut” stuff - WOW! Tim T
  14. Err, gwrrob, please enlighten me how you manage to get SWMBO to agree that you are right? I haven’t managed it yet in nearly 30 years of marriage! Tim T
  15. Question from a new follower of this thread:- Any chance you can sort out the missing photos? It would be more useful for us newcomers TIA Tim T
  16. Re the signal shown in post #860, is that based on a prototype? I’m surprised to see a backing arm and a main arm on the same structure as I have always understood that the backing arm was for “wrong direction” moves e.g. a down direction move on an up direction line or have I got it wrong? Tim T
  17. So long as you remember so set the sliding vetilators back a bit you’ll be fine...... Coat, hat, run :<) Tim T
  18. Well I’m married to an ex-nurse who started in geriatric nursing, moved to working on a stroke unit (via a spell as a school nurse!) and finished her nursing career in a hospice. That should fit her up to care for me adequately in my pending retirement Tim T
  19. Gents, the set that I am interested in is this one:- I had forgotten about GWR Autotrailers pt 2 that is in my collection Thanks, gents
  20. Good evening, RMWebbers. I’m attempting to tap into the vast knowledge base that is RMWeb. I wish to model a mid-fifties Cardiff Valleys auto set incorporating ex-Taff Vale auto trailers. I am working in 4mm, EM Gauge. I know that the late Trevor Charlton made a set of sides and ends for these but they are no longer available. Was a drawing ever published in the model press for these? If it was I would expect it to be one of the T.L. Jones series of drawings in the Model Railway Constructor in the 1950’s TIA for any help Tim T
  21. Re post #7586, wouldn’t a flock of sheep or goats be more effective? Tim T
  22. RMWeb never ceases to amaze me. The collective wisdom/genius/inventiveness on here is incredible. Tim T
  23. After 43 years in the signalling engineering business I can heartily endorse 5BarVT’s comment above. Structural engineers worry about drivers seeing signals? Never until it’s too late, especially when there’s an architect involved :<) Tim T (Written on an old ipad)
  24. I just had my first (and last) foray onto the Peco forum! Jeez what a humourless lot they are, won't be going there again Tim T
