The boards are great. Easy to build and not to heavy either. They bolt together nicely and give a good solid base.

So my tracks arrived. Just track pack 1 at present as i wanted to test the loco and get a feel for the scale. The layouyt will be 1200mm x 440mm on a scale model scenery baseboard. Spent a pleasureable 15 mins shuffling the wagons back and forth. The loco runs well thankfully. The uncoupler works well enough after a frustrating few moments figuring out how to fit it. I'll order the rest of the track now. Id have liked a 2nd loco but the A3 / A4 are too big. Much smaller than the 00 scale brother.

Bachmann Percy is one i can think of but the 009 quarry hunslet is even smaller

Hornby are saying theres no room for the sound decoder. I doubt HM 7000 would fit but i wouldnt be suprised if a loksound micro plus sugarcube would fit

Did anyone find a solution to having no front coupling on the A3/A4? Was thinking of doing an end to end but with no front coupler makes it difficult until the 34 / 47 arrives. Unless of course i run one loco into the station then back a second loco on to take the train out.

Ive had my sound fitted loco for a few days now and on the whole im happy with it. It does have a few quirks tho which i wonder if its normal. When i first got it i plonked it in the track and fired it up only for it to cut out mid startup. I couldnt get anything from it until i took it off the track and put it back after 30 seconds or so. I had read on here it happened to another user and i think i saw hattons recommend running iot before putting the sound on. So now if i leave it on powered track - basically leaving it for around a minute after turning the layout on its generally ok and starts up fine. Is it meant to to do this or is it a bug?

I guess we will soon find out as ive just ordered one after seeing they are in the warehouse.

Has anyone tried an A3 / A4 on 1st radius curves? I want to build a small layout on a SMS baseboard - which at 600mm wide will just fit an oval of 1st radius. I only really plan on using the 08 with a few wagons but will need to test the trackwork so will probs have to get an A3 / A4 to test with until the 08 arrives.

Yes the headcode versions just have the light up boxes and the tail lights.

Mines fine on 2nd radius but mines the plain br blue one. Still new tool tho

Pleased to see new class 20s. Green one on order. We dont seem to have had any train sets for years - in 00 or N. Im suprised they havent done a little 009 set
