  1. Not compatible with Samsung Galaxy S20 and S21? What an absolute joke 🤮
  2. Ok, so been a busy few days. The BB030 boards arrived. They were very easy to build and the 4 boards have been bolted and glued together giving a run of approx 8ft x 440mm. A couple of the optional strengheners have been glued accross the baseboard joints to give some extra rigidity and it also makes the back of the boards flush giving something to attach the backscene boards to The trackplan gives 3 platforms and a goods shed siding. Fiddle yard will eventually be 6 roads. Im still tinkering with the trackplan so its not finalised as yet. For the scenic break to the fiddle yard ive salvaged some metcalfe road bridges, glued them together and tried to give it the unused look to disguise the shredded road bed. I thought it looked ok. Thats pretty much it for now as ive had a firm date for my heating upgrade so this needs to be packed away and the old baseboard its sat on is to be removed. First job when the works done is decide weather im making some legs for the layout, using saw horses, couple of chests of draws, dunno yet. I'll leave you with a couple of pics.
  3. there will be 4 conncted along the narrower side to give a length of 2400 x 440mm. Each board is 600x440. Watched a yoputube video and it looks like it comes with joining brackets for both the long and short sides. The long ones wont be used joining the boards together sop the longer ones im thinking of gluing along the back edge of the boards to furthur brace them
  4. So ive returned from hols and ive ordered a couple of the bigger BB0030 boards to try as they give a bit more space. They are missing a backscene board tho so whats the best way of attaching one to the BB030 boards
  5. Just ordered some BB030 boards. Is it possible to add a backscene board to them?
  6. Probably the peco n scale code 80 ones. You shouldnt need them tho as the points are insulfrogs.
  7. Have they changed the packaging this time? Last time they were in this awful black clamshell but looking at your pic it seems its on a plinth now like the DMUs.
  8. Well after having the unwelcome news that we need a new central heating system which means all the floorboards have to come up. This means my layout, which isnt designed to be moved will need to be broken up. So i took all the track up except a running in loop. But this too will need to come up soon. So the new layout - what do i want to do? Things i want - Small passenger platform with a run around. Goods shed A bridge to seperate the scenic and fiddle yard area. So the baseboard. This time i wanted something that can be moved if needed. So i settled on the SMS boards - 2 x BB001, 2x BB002 and a sinle BB003. Comes in at just over 6ft x 294mm. The 2 spare bits im using to brace the backscenes . Its heavy but can at least be moved. For now its sitting on the old baseboard. Once the floorings gone back down after the heating systems done ill decide weather to stand it on some saw horses, some draws or make some legs for it. Trackwork : I wouldnt have minded new code 75 bullhead pointwork but i did try a few bits of flexi and a few points but found it to be really delicate so im going to reuse the existing code 100 streamline insulfrogs. Buildings : Ive made a small platform and used a metcalfe platform halt building. Also got a signal box so will reuse that. The metcalfe goods shed fits niceley as well. Im not quite settled on the traclpkan as yet ill see how things go with it. I'll be using DCC. Ive sold most of the locos i had and ive kept an 08 with TTS sound - a class 20 - a class 24 with sound - a 121 DMU and a J94 steam loco. Rolling stock wise ive kept a few dozen wagons and 4 Mk1 coaches. So thats it for now and im off on my hols this week. Going yorkshire so will be speding some quality time with family and of course fitting in as many train related stuff as possible. When i come back ill see what i can do about a backscene and a retainning wall. Im not the best modeller in the world but lets see how i get on.
  9. Typically the only one of the old TTS files isnt even on the list - the class 20!!
  10. Im fully expecting one to show up in Argos as an exclusive with s small loco and a few wagons. Also a small TXS set in 00 similar to the one they were designing on the TV program as they were adamant it had to be built to a price
  11. Is there enough room for a Hornby fat next 18 txs decoder to fit?
  12. What are the chances of a Hornby TXS decoder fitting in here with the smallest sugarcube speaker?
  13. In the first TT talk SK alos said a terrier was on the way
  14. Take a look at kernow they have the sound fitted ones for £189
  15. Which controller was flagged as unsuitable? The Gaugemaster DC ones he used or the PowerCab?
  16. I have a 32-416SF which is blue factory sound fitted if its any use?
  17. Sam seemed pretty impressed with his until, the end where the N18 one burned out.
  18. Almost 2 hours long and was nearly 20 mins late starting. Android app still 4 weeks away. 08 with sound kept stalling on plain track. Lost interest after that
  19. Yes thats correct, got a couple more of the BB002 on order. Good shout about glueing some of the boards together. I'll probably do that with most of the boards but leave one as just thye bolts so the layout can be split in 2 if needed. My current layouts about 100cm high so wanted something of similar hieght. My lads got some cube storage units in his room which i like the look of. Just the right width so could get a couple of those with a plank over them, with the layout on top. Gives me some storage then as well. Or i can get some legs cut and glue them in the corners and edges of the board.
  20. Got some SMS baseboards. Overall length is about 8 foot made up of 6 boards bolted together. What legs would people recommend with these and how many will i need.? One in each corner plus a pair in the midde? Or will i need more?
  21. I was open to getting one of these but the faff of fitting a decoder has put me off. I do hope its not a sign of things to come with the Class 11/12
  22. Sams trains has managed to get his to traverse set track points crossover and 2nd radius curves both pulled and pushed. He had the suburban ones with no buffers but very close coupled with the supplied bar
  23. On the 73 it looks like the decoder is upside down. On 21 pin locos the black bit is normally at the top. - like on the blanking plug. Having said that one of the pins on the decoder is normally blanked off so should only fit one way. The 73s had an issue on DCC, not sure if thats fixed on later releases.

  25. So following the news that i need a new central heating system - boiler radiatiors the lot it seems my exixting layout must be taken down so the floorboards can come up. Its pretty solid so i dont think it will come down without severly damaging it. Mixed feelings but i made my current board myself and it wasnt really ideal. Over time its kind of sagged a bit in the middle and its just too wide - i can reach the back. So ive ordered some SMS baseboards. 2 x BB001 and 3x BB002. Should give me a reasonnable run and wide enough for a small station terminus and a small goods yard. Best of all its got a backboard so no more plastering hills and tunnels to the bedroom wall - good job ill have to redecorate anyway lol. and of course it will be freestanding. Initial thoughts are to lay it on a couple of paste tables until i can sort some sort of legs which it seems SMS dont do as yet. I was loosing my modelling mojo a bit and pretty excited to be starting anew.
