  1. Even cheaper if you use the code SPRING at checkout
  2. My local retailler is planning to do just that. However - it might not be that easy from what ive been reading on Hornby forum. I might be wrong but if the retailler downloads the file it links the decoder to his system. He then needs to unlink it and then when the customer tries to link it to his system it wont do it without a reset code from Hornby. Similar to a problem a chaps having having linked his decoder to the wrong app.
  3. I think the 8 oin and next 18 are the same bar the connector
  4. I can see what you mean now. I hadnt spotted the speaker connection touching the screw. I dont know why both connectors arent on the top of the decoder. Ive got a feeling its these connectors that are what is stopping a TXS from being installed in a TT 08
  5. Id be suprised if that did work as it looks like the decoder is barely making contact with the pins.
  6. For info i emailled SK about the app asking when its due. He replied very quickly saying the IOS version will be out within days but the Android version is still a few weeks away.
  7. After several attempts to reset CV8 to 8 it seems to be running ok again. So lets check its not me causing an issue... The test class 20 has a metal chassis so to insulate the decoder i put a strip of insulating tape between the decoder and the chassis to avoid a short. Its quite a snug fit when the body goes back on. Just checking im not causing it to overheat as its going to be a far more snug fit in the 08.
  8. No the only cvs ive touched was cv8 to 8 to reset it. i get what your saying about the profiles, but for a short time it ran really nice with the default settings. Then after the runaway its got a lot worse. Im assuming the 37 profile is tuned to the railroad 37 as its the only 37 they do. Without the app i cant reload the sound file so the only option may be returning it as im not prepared to wait for weeks for the app only to find its defective after all.
  9. no nothing to suggest what cvs do what apart from default address of 3 and DCC mode on by default
  10. Sadlly my decoder seems to have stopped working correctly so will probably need to be returned. Didnt work great in a railroad 37 stop start stop start but the looco wasnt great on DC So i installed it in a class 20 where it worked great for a few hours. Then without warning it shot off at full speed and wouldnt respond to the controller so had to cut power to the layout. Now with power restored the sound works when stationary but move to speed step 1 and it shoots off again for a second then stops. Does this repeatedly. So deffo an issue there as this loco runs perfectly with a normal decoder. Without the app i cant load a sound file to it to see if it fixes the issue so looks like its a return for a refund - along with the class 37 i purcashed at the same time.
  11. Sams trains ordered some TT120 track and im sure he said each track piece came in a seperate box. He complained to Hornby and got the excess post refunded.
  12. Do we know what speakers we need for these? Im thinking more for the locos that already have prefitted spreakers which arent necessarily Hornby. Off the top of my head im thinking the next 18 one for a farish 31 or Bachmann J72 with built in speaker. Or the 21 pin for the accurascale deltic or accurascale 37.
  13. Installed mine today. The railroad 37 i ordered to test the decoder was awful. Even on DC it wasnt smooth. With the TXS chip fitted it ran an inch and stopped - ran - stopped. Rinse and repeat. It also stalled on every point it came to. So not a great start but not the fault of the decoder. The only other 00 loco i have thats not already dcc fitted is a Bachmann class 20. So using a 21 to 8 pin adapter and the smallest enclosure it fits nice inside the body of the loco - unkike the TTS decoders which were a faff to get the body back on properly. Running wise it sounds odd having a steam sound but its really smooth and very responsive to the controller. And considering its a small speaker it sounds really good - certainly better to my ear than the prefitted sugar cubes in some Bachmann locos. Just waiting for the app now to change the sound to a diesel sound file albeit not the correct one. The class 20 was available as TTS so hopefully a TXS file will appear.
  14. Brake vans and tankers now showing in stock
  15. Sounds good. Does it ask you then what scale loco youre using? For example the A3 / A4 does it ask TT or 00?
  16. 00 gauge 37 and 0 gauge 08 so should be ok lol
  17. When is this likeley to be? Days? Weeks? My diesels are going to sound funny with the test steam sound set 😄
  18. To update i installed the decoder into a Bachmann 121 today. Runs a treat - much smoother than in the class 20. Also all the light functions work as expected. Seems like a decent budget decoder and ill probably buy more of these instead of the Bachmann ones for my none sound fitted locos
  19. Im quite keen to try one in an O gauge 08. Ive got a TTS decoder in it and it cant do all the lighting. Might try the 8 pin one ive got coming using the 8 - 21 pin adapter thats already in there Pity the class 20 isnt listed as ive got a few of those waiting for decoders. Im also tempted by a next 18 one to try in an EFE J94 but would ideally want the stay alive as well
  20. Well i ended up ordering an 8 pin TXS decoder and a railroad 37 to have a play with it in. Cant wait to hear all the different sound files on offer. Hopefully theres enough room in an 08 to fit the decoder and the speaker. Looking forward to seeing what it has to offer over TTS.
  21. slightly annoying that a £64.99 order qualifies for free post but as soon as i apply my reward points it knocks £21.15 off then adds on postage of £3.95
