  1. Crosland is a member on here(of Sprog fame) and I have found him very helpful with JMRI issues. Try a PM to him.
  2. However if you look at the leaflet that comes with the loco it clearly has an internal picture showing 2 flywheels.
  3. So how much extra does it cost to put these diesel engines in the bi-mode trains as surely they were originally designed for electric traction only. We seem to have moved from the concept of an electric IEP with a small number of bi-mode trains to work partly electrified lines to the idea of totally bi-mode trains. This has been the reality for some time now so the powers that be have had this up their sleeve for that same amount of time. The reason I ask the question is that the extra cost of equipping all the trains with the diesel alternative would surely go some way towards the increased cost of electrification. In an age when we have recently been told how bad diesel cars are for the environment I find it totally hypocritical that a government is advocating continued use of the much larger diesel engines which must be causing much pollution in the countryside.
  4. Just opened my Janus up and it is as you say a flywheel between the motor and gearbox but not on the open end of the motor. Will it make a difference. I haven't run it at all yet. Some serious quality control issues here I would say, if we are finding these differences.
  5. Web site working when I tried it just now. It had Mikes models items on there but who knows if they are available. Their website leaves a lot to be desired in this modern age.
  6. Would be nice to see wholly British companies getting these franchises.
  7. The last time I was there (which is months ago now) they were one and the same company. Tried looking at their website now and it doesn't seem to be working.

  9. July the 1st that will be , a tribute to Merl Evans.
  10. A Thunderer whistle seems to have the desired effect on those Microsoft parasites.
  11. It'll be like Christmas tomorrow.
  12. How about this http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/55966-raf-kinloss-mrc-halfords-paint-list-2012-version/
  13. 3rd May 2000hrs - lets get down there boys.
  14. It will be wait and see as far as Having your Say is concerned because it seems to be just another forum and we have a good enough one here so I can't see what it will achieve. What I have missed is the non forum format that worked so well and the many informative communications from the likes of Brian McDermott and others who were a veritable mine of information and always seemed to know where to look for it.
  15. Their catalogues are very much slimmer this year which probably reflects that they are rationalising to maximise profit.Nothing wrong with that of course if it means they survive. I also read somewhere something about them maybe pulling out of US outline, perhaps it didn't sell or there were too many others in the market. Notice also no mention of MKD which was a buildings range mainly French. The buildings in the Jouef catalogue seem to be British Scaledale !!
  16. For those who have been getting frustrated in the last few years over the lack of information from Hornby International, there is some good news. Catalogues for 2017 are available from the British Hornby webshop Jouef, Rivarrossi, Electrotren and both Arnold are advertised. Its taken them some time to get their act together after dropping Ontracks but at least its another sign of better times ahead.
  17. I think contemplating the first £100 loco was an issue for us at one time and certainly for a diesel, but we knew it would eventually come as that is the nature of inflation. We've crossed that barrier for run of the mill everyday locos and of course it hurts(in the wallet) but I think the manufacturers have explained it fairly well to us. However we are talking limited edition here and one that didn't run in massive numbers anywhere so to make profit it is going to have to be a lot more expensive. I ordered mine before the £100 barrier was breached for the run of the mill stuff and was happy then to contemplate paying the premium for something special and out of the ordinary. But time has moved on and I think there may be a few like me who will say that it's now going to be lot to pay for something that I won't be using that much. It still may depend on what Kernow do for those who showed faith in the project when it was first announced and I may still be persuaded but there is always the danger that when a project takes this long(and longer to complete) prices will rise over time and this will affect the take up. I wonder what would have happened if this was a crowd funded project ?
  18. I ordered one as soon as they were announced and that seems an age ago. I have often wondered if they could still honour the original price as it is a considerable time ago and many things have changed. They have said "Prices have risen since the Warship announcement and we are, sadly, unable to honour the pre-order prices. We will be contacting each customer that has an existing pre-order placed prior to 14th December 2016 in the New Year about this and will be giving details of how we intend to mitigate this rise." It remains to be seen how they achieve this but I will have to seriously consider if this is a viable purchase now.
  19. If you still want DODO my local shop has them on their website so assume they are still in stock . Holt Model Railways and the price is a cool £98.00 plus p&p. Thats just over £10 above the Hornby website price. Make of that what you will.
  20. Mine arrived from Hattons today and is without doubt the most delightful little loco I have seen .Thanks for the speedy service Hattons and it was packed by the lovely Alicia Malicka which adds to the delight.
  21. According to the website they are currently amending the club package. That will be interesting as I joined last year and then discovered that none of the club specials were available and so promptly cancelled.I hope it improves.
