  1. I like the way somebody's carefully sign-written "Condemned wagon on loan to The Chief Engineer's Deparment". We've finished the testing now - you can have your wagons back!!
  2. Best explanation of what this loco was about that I've seen.
  3. That could form the basis of some useful trasnfers - especially if the codes for for a few of the ther sizes/ types of container were added. Presumably the colours of these markings vary if the container colour is dark.
  4. I think that's the right answer - working dot matrix type in 4mm is still pushing the limits of what the technology can do but I suspect it will become feasible within a decade or so. In any case route indication is complicated by the fact that you've had to take a few liberties with the station approaches to fit the layout in. This means that some route indicators would probably have to differ from the prototype as the next signal may be something other than it was on the prototype I've watched all of the iTrain videos, but I've still not got my head around around how it handles UK signalling. I'm convinced it will do the job though when correctly configured. You might need to use the iTrain forum for assistance if you hit problems - they seem to be pretty good at sorting out what people have coded up wrongly.
  5. Our cats shouldn't get fleas as they're house cats and mot allowed out, but we they do get regular flea treatment. If they do get fleas, it would no doubt be from the dogs, who have to be exercised regularly so they could pick something up on the Common. With 4 cats and 2 dogs, our vet bills are fairly high, although we get some of it refunded through insurance. Another bill this week as one of the dogs has been diagnosed with kidney trouble, will need to see the vet again in a couple of weeks time for more tests. We're stayed with a good vet that we've used for years although he moved to a practice in Littleport, so it's a bit of a trek.
  6. They really are the business ! Left to right, top picture signal numbers 111, 109, 107 / 104, 101,99, 97 All 3 aspect with route indicator and shunt signal
  7. That tends to suggest that there wasn;t an HMRI investigation. If nobody was hurt, I think the criteria at the time were such that a freight train derailment would not have been considered worth investigating, especially if the staff on duty had handled a runaway safely
  8. And I can imagine the "English"! One wonders why a preserved line needs to connect the corridor tender of an A4 in the first place. Crew change at Ramsbottom?
  9. You need https://www.checkatrade.com
  10. Not really. The earlier North Eastern Region crossings were not very different from conventional gated crossings - can be motorised using a servo, just a different style of gate. Here's an earlier version of the arrangements at Redcar and Network Rail's info on its repalcement with the one in yesterday's accident ... https://www.networkrailmediacentre.co.uk/news/novel-level-crossing-to-be-installed-at-west-dyke-road Redcar also features on this site - among a good range of many other styles of LC. https://www.scalemodelscenery.co.uk/blogs/modelling-level-crossings-real-life-inspiration
  11. Most medication for pets needs a prescription, but some things like worming tablets can be sold to the public so are available online which is generally cheaper than the vets who make a profit on sales.
  12. Yes, but only for some models. The class 30 and the Manor show only the pack weight for example. The class 37 shows a pack weight that's lighter than the loco!
  13. That must be an understatement. The sheer number of components must be considerable, and the need to keep track of stock will need a fair amount of resource. In any case I can't imagine you'll be able to hold every component of every product you've ever produced. Good luck with the project. I've noticed you're quoting weights against one or two of your products on the web site, something I find useful. However in most cases it's the package weight (which I guess is useful for costing postage) rather than the vehicle itself.
  14. Some of the green ones didn't have yellow panels.
  15. That's because the facilities in a traditional goods stations didn't run to a forklift. You'd have a couple of barrows and maybe a hand-worked crane
  16. That's the bloke, but they're not called nutters in Norfolk. They're called Normal!
  17. I seem to recall a broadly similar case in Norfolk where the farmer had called the police and they decided not to turn out - until after he'd defended himself. I can't remember the outcome but I dont think the emerged without some egg on their faces. Derbyshire farms call also be miles from the nearest cop shop.
  18. Good job it did bounce off those buffers. If it hadn't, you would have had to post this on the level crossing madness thread instead, because the very busy Station Road is just beyond the stops.
  19. So why don''t we send him back now and save the taxpayer the cost of so many years porridge? If the yanks send him to the electric chair, that'll save them the cost of the porridge too.
  20. POWsides is by far the easiest. Always assuming it's one they do, rather than some specific requirement for a colliery etc they 've not done.
  21. Will it smell the same as the real one?😬
  22. If that's the case, non-members will be able to buy that livery on ebay at three times the price.
  23. You're banging your head against a brick wall with this message Graham.
  24. but it's OK to bonk them on the head! It should be obvious by now from this thread that common sense is not very common. A Lincolnshire signalman told us that he'd seen a pedestrian turn up and having to wait for the train to pass, hung the dog lead over the lamp on top of the barrier. So when the train had gone by, the signalman duly pressed Barriers Up - and the dog got hoisted !
  25. I believe there used to be a sliding gate at Wolverton Works where the Royal Train was kept, because the road was at such a very sharp skew to the line.
