Walton on the hill 27E Liverpool, EM gauge.
Michael Delamar replied to Michael Delamar's topic in Layout topics
Bit of an update. I have been building some loco chassis at home, 2 comet Jinty chassis for Bachmann bodies and a Craftsman kit of a L&Y A class. As well as rewheeling lots of Hornby hopper wagons. Work on the layout itself has been on the lighting pelmets which are now built with the fluorescent lights installed and wired. Chris Hewitt has been working on the office buildings. Complete with the CLC style brickwork of a stretcher then 4 rows of headers. The buildings will soon be set into the ballast.- 696 replies

Got mine from Kidderminster and had it signed, we had a nice chat, the book is superb. I did ask about a future book of his colour slides and there were encouraging sounds.

Network Rail to ban Flying Scotsman?

Can we rename and renumber her as one of her long scrapped classmates? Joe public and press won’t know about it if it’s called Sandwich. -
An easy modelling fix but I’ve busted a handrail and it’s gone to the floor in the clubrooms never to be seen again. Will it be Hattons or Heljan for replacements? many thanks.

One at Huskisson goods yard Liverpool in 1964. I’m modelling this line although slightly earlier period. I suppose now I could have one on the layout. If I can find one that is.

Look good with ploughs.

Yellow triangle on black wagon

Couple of Grampus at Huskisson CLC goods yard Liverpool in the late 60s. One with triangle, presuming it’d be yellow. -

UP Big Boy to steam again in 2019

Daftest comment coming here but it’s just something I want to say. When I watch the archive footage such such as Last of the giants. It seems so much larger than it does now. The world around it, the diesel locos, cars, stomachs have gotten so much bigger that it almost doesn’t seem as big. I know that’s all ridiculous, forgive me for being silly. Ive been following this with interest since it was announced and moved from the fairground. fantastic achievement. -

Sorry if it’s been asked I’ve had a search. I've tried to pull the wheels out on mine to EM gauge. The wheels look like they would be ok to do so but they’re such a tight fit I just can’t get them to budge? Has anyone else had any success? Any tips please. cheers. -

If anyone can find me any evidence of a 24 on the CLC north Liverpool extension pre 1964 I’ll buy one of these. -

Watching Marsden rail North Durham again. Are there any good books which show the area around Banks yard, the staithes, the hole , zig zag. That whole area? Wouldnt mind seeing a map too. -
In the cabinet at York, I always think the hand painted versions look better than the factory finishes.

Chris Hewitt will have some of the buildings on his mould making demo stand at York Model Railway Show this weekend if anyone would like to view them and have a chat with him. -
I’m in the middle of building an 04/8 in 4mm and the next thing is the smoke box saddle. Just wondering how you guys have done yours?

Some of the best I’ve seen. Glad you posted them in this thread and others who’ve posted model shots too, I think there should be more models in here aswel as the prototype shots.

Going back to point rodding. I spotted this on a DVD, Ormskirk, not something you normally see modelled.

That really is very nice Merfyn. Thank you. That livery is so much nicer than the plain maroon. For now I’ve gone and ordered a plain maroon Hornby one and could run the 1963 train. Although that had 2 Pullman Mk1s in its formation and I can’t make out what the 2nd Pullman is. I’ve got car 332 which ran in the 1962 train. I’ve no info on what the Pullman cars were in 63 and I’ve got no other shots of the rest of this train so could run it right away with some mk1s blissfully unaware until some shots come up. But my intention is to model the 1962 train and I wouldn’t mind trying what you did with a Brown and cream Belle car. Id still keep the Maroon liveried one as I’m guessing the sides are different? It looks to have vertical wood panelling where the maroon and cream one doesn’t? I've ordered the Comet coaches for the 62 train for collection at York. Roof to be weathered.
