  1. Good evening everyone Well, we had a good day at Tatton Park Flower Show, in our opinion, the show gardens were not as good as previous shows, but then again that’s all a bit subjective anyway, there also seemed to be less trade stands too! I managed to get one or two things that I was looking for, namely some very long sleeved gauntlets, for when I’m pruning roses and a pair of long handled secatures, which hold onto whatever is being cut. It seemed to be a bit quiter on members only day and we were there a lot longer than we usually are, but a good time was had by us both, we’ll go on members day next year too! Tomorrow I’ll be busy putting away all the stuff I got from the shed yesterday, then potting up the plants we bought today. We’ve walked quite some distance today and are both rather tired so we’re having an early night. Goodnight all.
  2. Saturday Night’s All Right For Fighting - Elton John
  3. Good morning everyone The sun is shining and we are due a hot day today! So in readiness, we have both liberally applied sun cream on ourselves. The food is packed into the cool bag, the drinks are also packed into their own cool bags and everything is now in the boot of the car, I’m just waiting for Sheila to finish getting herself ready then we’re off to the RHS Tatton Flower Show, I hope my wallet can take it, as we have quite a list of things to lookout for! Back later

  6. Good evening everyone Once I’d finished the cheesecake this morning, I went and completed the Sainsbury’s Grand Prix. This is a change from the norm as I would usually do this on Tuesday evening, but as I mentioned earlier, we have the grandkids round for tea and by the time they’ve gone home and we’ve cleaned up, it would be getting a wee bit late. Anyway, the whole experience was over and done in about 40 minutes, so not too bad really. So once I’d put away all the shopping I made myself a muggertea, retired to the living room with the latest copy of RM, which I’d picked up there and had a bit of a read until dinner time. No work was done in the workshop after dinner, but I did gather all the bits we normally take with us to Tatton, folding chairs and trucks etc from the shed. I gave everything a quick clean and then loaded them into the boot of the car. I also made the sandwiches and put them in the fridge ready for packing tomorrow. I’ll get the cool bags out in the morning and pack all food and drinks etc, whilst Sheila is getting herself ready. Time for a nice chilled glass of rosé. Mike. I’m glad to read that all is ok after your visit to A&E, take it easy for a few days. GDB. Ouch, unfortunately I know how it feels, thankfully it’s nothing recent.
  7. Walking On The Moon - The Police
  8. Good morning everyone Another dull start to the day, but sunshine is forecast for today. Despite last nights downpour and one last week, United Utilities have given a date for hosepipe bans, 5th August! Once I’ve finished my muggertea I’m making a cheesecake, as we have Ava, Evie and Max coming for tea tonight instead of Wednesday, as tomorrow we will be at The RHS Tatton Flower Show. It will be the first time we’ve been on member’s day, so hopefully it will be a little quieter than usual. Back later
  9. go to parties, sometimes until 4, It’s hard to leave when you can’t find the door, Its tough to handle this fortune and
  10. Good evening everyone Well the rain held off and I’ve been able to clear away a few more sods. After dinner I tidied up my gardening tools, wheelbarrow etc and the went to the workshop. This gearbox that was making a motor run hot was tested again today and all seemed to be ok, so I assume the lubrication that I put on it before I left the workshop must have done the trick. A start was then made on a MARKIT gearbox which I picked up at the Manchester show in May. Just as I was starting to make tea it started to rain, so I went out and put a few old compost sacks over the last few sods, so that they wouldn’t get wet. Once I was back inside it stopped raining, anyway I decided to leave them on, just in case! Which was a good job, as whilst I was at Salford Quays swimming, the heavens once again opened up. I managed a total of 4 & 1/2 laps, 2.4k or approximately, 1 1/2 miles in around 67 minutes, even managing a complete lap (500m) of front crawl. I then got soaked walking back to the car after getting changed. Deb’s, good evening. Goodnight all.
  11. Trick Of The Tail - Genesis
  12. Good morning everyone It’s a dull start to the day, with the possibility of some rain, although the sun appears to be trying to shine at the moment. Once Sheila has gone to her Zumba class I’ll make a start on the fruit tea loaf which I started yesterday. As most of the cake has been soaking overnight I’ve only got to add the flour, mix it then pop it in the oven. 90 minutes later it will be ready, so an easy morning is the plan. Once the cake is set aside to cool I’ll go out to the garden To carry on removing soil from the sods, weather permitting, otherwise I’ll go to the workshop. Back later
  13. Blind Lemon Sam - All About Eve
  14. Good evening everyone Well the cloudy start to the day didn’t last very long, the sun was revealing itself when I went outside and by 12:00 the clouds had all but gone and sun was shining brightly. I’ve managed to clear a few more sods of soil and put the roots etc in the garden waste bin. I also earned a few brownie points by cleaning the brass door furniture on the front door as well as cleaning the glass. The window cleaners won’t clean the glass on the front door because both of the panes are leaded and they’re worried that they might damage them! As planned after dinner I went down to the workshop and carried on with a couple of gearboxes. One, an Alan Gibson gearbox is causing the motor to run a little hot, so a bit of investigation work is required there, but that will have to wait until tomorrow. After tea I started soaking the fruit for a fruit tea loaf that I will be making first thing tomorrow morning. So when Sheila comes home from her Zumba class the kitchen will smell rather yummy! After tea, I watered the garden but it wasn’t as cool as last night, but still pleasant none the less! As regards to food sell by/use by dates, we regularly eat food that is passed (only a day or two) the dates. We use our noses to guide us, if is smells bad it’s binned, if it smells ok, then we eat it as soon as possible. We’ve been doing that for years with no ill effects so far. The nose is a wonderful organ and can tell you what is safe or not! Goodnight all
  15. Mourning Sad Morning - Free
  16. Good morning everyone It’s a bit cloudier today than yesterday, where there were none at all! Once I’ve finished my 3rd muggertea I’m off out to the garden to take advantage of the weather. Hopefully after dinner I’ll spend the rest of the day in the workshop. Back later
  17. I still haven’t found what I’m looking for
  18. Good evening everyone It’s been another beautiful sunny day here in the northwest and I’ve spent most of it in the garden. When I dug up the last of the gras earlier in the week, I put all the sods upside down so that they would dry out. However, the rain over the last few days has meant that they haven’t completely done that. So today I’ve removed the soil from just over a third of what was left, I’ll do a few more tomorrow, then the rest will have to wait until after the garden waste bin has been emptied, as I don’t want it to be too heavy to move! After dinner i tidied up all my gardening paraphernalia, then I spent an hour or so in the workshop, building a couple of gearboxes. Once I’d done what I could I came in and a spot of eyelid inspection was completed, both passed the test ok! After tea, I went out and watered the garden and I enjoyed a slightly cooler 30 minutes whilst doing so. Then it was time to sit down put on the idiots lantern and watched some recorded TV with a bottle of red. Goodnight all
  19. Good morning everyone The sun is out, breakfast has been eaten and muggertea has been drunk. So I’m off outside to take advantage to the sunshine. Back later
  20. it’s hard being a cowboy in Rochdale, spurs don’t fit right on
  21. Good evening everyone I did manage to get a couple of hours in the workshop this afternoon. No major work was undertaken, I was mainly checking a few items and putting away a new router cutter that arrived today. I ordered it from China last April, it finally arrived this morning, it must have been a the slow boat! James and Amelia arrived just after 4:30, whilst I was making a start on tonight’s tea, fish and chips. This was footy the remains of Wednesday’s carrot cake. We then spent a few hours chatting and catching up on the latest. Amelia will be at her school prom on Wednesday, this is her last year at this school, next year she will start secondary school. It doesn’t seem 5 minutes since she was born, she’ll be 12 in September! We’ve had more rain this evening as well as a bit of thunder too, but we didn’t see any lightning. Once they’d gone we had a quick tidy up and then I opened a bottle of red. By this time it was almost 9:00, so we decided to wait until 10:00 before switching on the idiots lantern, only to find the was bl00dy tennis on so mute was pressed and we both sat and read whilst we waited for the news to start. The forecast for the weekend is sunshine, so hopefully I’ll be out in the garden tomorrow. Goodnight all
