  1. I’ll Be Creeping - Free
  2. Good morning everyone It’s going to be another scorcher here today, but like yesterday I’m only going to work outside until dinner. This morning’s task is to lay some permanent paving between the shed and the workshop. Last year when I renewed the fence, I temporarily put a few paving slabs down but there are lots of weeds popping up between them, so I’ll do a proper job today. Back later.
  3. Good evening everyone Unfortunately I’ve not had time to read all of today’s posts, I’ll try and catch up with them tomorrow. It’s been hot today, very hot, but I managed to stay outside until dinner time. However, I haven’t planted anything just yet, I thought I’d leave them for a while to see how they get on where they are and also to see if I’m happy with them where they are. So instead I moved the last few remaining pots from the patio and then cleaned it with the pressure washer. I also gave our old table a good clean as well, but I think it’s now well past it’s sell by date, so we may well look for another when we go to the RHS Tatton flower show next month. Once I’d finished that little job, I then moved the rocks that once formed the waterfall and levelled off a little more of the garden. I think I’ll be doing some tip runs over the next few weeks, as I now have quite a lot of rubble and old rocks etc to get rid of. After it dinner it was far to warm to continue working outside, so I decamped to the workshop instead, where it was also warm, but leaving both windows and door open improved things a little. I made a start on lining Max’s engine, so far I’ve lined one side of the cab, both cylinders and partly lined 3 of the 4 boiler bands. The plan for tomorrow will be pretty much the same. Goodnight all
  4. Tumbling Dice - The Rolling Stones
  5. Good morning everyone Once again the sun is shining, (surely it can’t last) so I’m off outside to see if I’m happy with where I put the pots around that I moved yesterday, some may get planted permanently, some may have to wait. Then I may well do a bit move levelling of the garden. Whatever you’ve got planned for the day, have a good one! Back later
  6. I Can See Clearly Now - Johnny Nash
  7. Good evening everyone Yet another beautiful sunny day here in the northwest and today I spent quite a lot of it outside. My first task was to give the brass work on the front door a quick polish. Then I dead headed some of the roses then I moved most of the pots we had on the patio on the area, to where the pond used to be. Over the next few days, when I’m happy with the plants position, I’ll plant them. After dinner I gave Max’s engine a couple of coats of klear, prior to starting adding the decals etc, which will be later in the week. Due to pressures at work and my own illnesses and the fact that I haven’t felt like driving there, I’ve not been to the Warley NEC Show for 7 years, so this year I thought I’d try it out again, but, instead of driving, I’m letting the train take the strain! So, this evening I’ve booked my seats on the train to the NEC and also posted my application form for a ticket for the show. Nice to see Deb’s popping in. Goodnight all.
  8. Good evening everyone It’s been another beautiful sunny day here in the northwest, but I’ve not been out in the garden, I’ve been in the workshop most of the day. After a brief lie-in this morning I went straight out to the workshop and started painting Max’s engine, I gave it a sacrificial coat and it showed that I didn’t need to do any further work so I gave it a quick rub down and the gave it a coat of dark green, I don’t think it’s a true likeness of BR green, but it will do for Max. After dinner I then added the black paint to the smokebox etc. The next step is to give it a coat of varnish prior to adding the decals etc. It will be our 40th anniversary in October, I HAD hair then, very little left now! Baz and Mrs Baz. Happy anniversary. And congratulations to Simon and Mrs Simon too! Goodnight all

  10. Tears Roll Down - Tears For Fears
  11. Good evening everyone Well it’s been an absolutely glorious day hear in the northwest, wall to wall sunshine. This morning’s trip to the hospital went very well indeed. In the car park you get 30 minutes free parking, I was so quick having my sample taken, that I didn’t need to pay the car parking fee! So from there I went straight on to the Trafford Centre, where I picked up the usual bits and pieces and then came home via the butchers, where I collected the weekly meat rations along with a pastie for my dinner. This evening, we had James and Amelia round for tea and they also helped finish off the chocolate cakes I made the other day, they both had 2 each! The evening was rounded off with a nice bottle of red. I also only buy locally dry cured bacon, purchased weekly from our local butchers, it tastes like the bacon we used to get when we were kids! Goodnight all.
  12. Good evening everyone For tea tonight we had some of the soup I made this morning and I must say, very nice it was too! Well last week when I swam 3 1/2 laps (1.9k) I suffered with muscle pains in both my thighs for a couple of days afterwards, so tonight I only swam 3 laps (1.6k), so hopefully I won’t suffer from leg pains tomorrow. Speaking of tomorrow, I’ll be up with the sparrow phart, as I’m of to The Christie hospital, where I will see sister drac, who’ll take some samples prior to my appointment the the oncologist there on the 2nd of July. Goodnight all.
  13. That’s it, the soup is all done and ready to eat tonight and what is left we will freeze, so I’m off to the workshop.
  14. Purple Haze - Jimi Hendrix
  15. Good morning everyone The sun is out and it’s a lovely day, there is no Zumba for Sheila this week or next as her instructor is away on holiday. However, she will shortly be leaving to meet up with a few of her Zumba pals for a coffee and a natter, she may be gone for some time! In the meantime I will busy myself making a large batch of ‘Leek and Potato’ soup. After that I plan to spend the rest of the day once again in the workshop. Back later
  16. Nice Man Jack - John Miles
  17. Good evening everyone As expected, it did rain this morning, but only for about 30 minutes or so and after dinner the sun came out and it was quite a pleasant day. I’ve had a bit more success with Max’s engine today, I resolved the binding issue by totally stripping the engine to its component parts a rebuilding bit by bit and testing it at each stage to find out what was actually causing the problem. It turned out to be a slightly bent con rod/valve bracket, once I’d straightened it, everything was fine. I also gave everything a good clean whilst I was at it. Once that was sorted that I returned to adding detail items to the loco body itself, I’ve only got a couple more pieces to add and then I can undercoat it. This afternoon we had Evie and Max round for tea, Ava had gone to her friends so she wasn’t with us tonight. As requested, tonight’s tea was pizza followed by chocolate cake. What they didn’t expect was that they would chocolate mint cakes, they went down very well. I do have a bike, but I’ve not ridden it for over 30 years, but, considering it’s been in storage (the shed) all that time, it’s not in bad nick. I did give it a good service a couple of years ago, but that’s as much as I’ve done. Maybe I’ll take it out for a ride, or maybe not! Goodnight all
  18. And I Love Her - The Beatles
  19. Good morning everyone Another dull start to the day and by the evidence on the kitchen windows, it’s desperately trying to rain. So I think most of the day will be spent in the workshop today. Back later.
  20. Good evening everyone Well not only did I manage to get the cakes baked and iced before Sheila got back from the hairdresser, I also made a fruit tea loaf too! After dinner I went to the workshop and sorted out a parcel of bits and pieces that arrived today from eBay. I managed to purchase three lots from the same seller, two were for mini servos (7 in total, all new, still in the packets) and the last was a bunch of spares, including 12 servo extension leads, screws, LEDs, roller bearings, plus another 7 used servos and loads of servo accessories. I too lost a colleague who was very young, 34 with a young daughter and a fiancée. The poor lad had a seizure and dropped dead just after Christmas too! Goodnight all.
