  1. I wouldn't mind a 4VEP in my fleet of model trains as something a wee bit different .
  2. I think they were good in their day. They were basic and robust and had a basic motor but they kept me happy for hours in my childhood days. I tend to have both the basic and the super detailed models although I just get great enjoyment from see model trains running in any form. That's just me .
  3. Now something else for the wishlist. How about a VP185 TTS twin pack of decoders? . Infact Hornby could utilise the ex-LNER/VTEC livery for their first EMR HST and the Mk3's as I believe that EMR are taking 9 HST sets from LNER to displace the 222's to other EMR routes and some of the VP185 HST's as well. Or at least this is what i have been told.
  4. I understand. To be honest mate. I am quite ignorant of the Class 800 "Cucumber" trains because to my eye. Apart from the liveries, they all look the same to me :).
  5. Just a thought about the Hornby Class 91/Alas the 225. Once the Cavelex model comes out. I wonder if the Hornby model will be relegated to the Railroad range in the future? As for modern stuff and Hornby must have the licence from Hitachi to make the Class 800/0. I wonder how popular a 9 car Class 800/3 for GWR and perhaps a Scotrail Class 385 model would be? Well with the LNER Class 800 coming out soon. That would make two model fine EMU's for those that want to model the modern Scottish theme around Edinburgh.
  6. Well with three new potential liveries for the Class 800 "Cucumber" trains. I think Hornby have made a good investment in the tooling. As for the Biomass wagon. Maybe Hornby could do a GBRF white version as I am 99% certain that I have seen one on YouTube. That would maintain the original DRAX limited edition value and we could always respray the GBRF model or decal overlay them! . Personally I would like Hornby to do their own version of the current post 2006 TEA tanker wagon for two reasons. The first reason is that there will be a good alternative to the Rapido/Revolution Trains OO gauge model which I understand isn't being reissued and the models are now fetching stupid amounts of money on eBay. The second reason is that the Hornby model will be less likely to arrive to me broken or with parts jingling about in the box upon arrival. Because I was not impressed with the Rapido models to be honest and I think that Hornby could do a better job. Or at least in my opinion anyway .
  7. Same here mate. As much as I want one of those models. I am holding off buying one until the issue is fixed because apart from the logo being wrong. It is a cracking model and I wish to remake one as 60001 "Steadfast" which has an identical logo if I recall right?
  8. I am now confused. So if I have this right. Does that mean that Hornby are going to do a recall of the unsold models? Or do we have to send our model into Hornby for them to patch it after buying it from the retailer? Can someone help me out on this please?
  9. If I was to make a suggestion. It might be worth holding back like I am just in case Hornby decide to fix the models? I think if they designed the "fix" to make it cover the botched logo without leaving a trace. That could encourage more people to buy it like me for starters. Meanwhile I will just keep to the DB Class 60's.
  10. Hi Hayley, The sad face of life is that we will not be able to please everyone and believe me I've tried to in the past and failed miserably. From a personal point of view, accuracy isn't a big issue as long as it "looks" right to my eye. As for the GWR HST set. If the incorrect lights are an issue. Then we have two options to us. The first is to "paint" the headlights onto the ex-Lima model if Hornby has not done this. Or the second option is to save up and buy the accurate premium pack that is available to buy right now. That's the options there on that issue. As for the Class 57. Didn't Lima make one back in the late 1990's? Or was that just a badly passed off Class 47 model renumbered? I have never owned a Lima Class 57, so I cannot comment but I am suspecting its just a renumbered Class 47 with the same tooling? I would like to know more about that situation . All the best
  11. From my understanding and if the Bachmann 2019 brochure is correct (tongue in cheek here) that both the Class 158 and Class 170's are to have working BSI couplers at the outer ends. I wonder if this will be rolled out to the Bachmann Class 150/1 and Class 150/2 models in the future to unify compatibility? That could be interesting and if Bachmann sells the working BSI couplers as a NEM version or a kit. Perhaps it could be retrofitted to other makes of DMU's like the Hornby Class 153 and the Realtrack Class 156 perhaps? Just some food for thought there.
  12. Why? Personally I wouldn't rule anything out. I think you would find that a CS skin on the ex-LIma tooling to "make" it look like a 73/9 for the newbies to model railways could work! . I think Dapol should do the accurate model but Hornby could always shove a CS skin onto the ex-lima model for their Railroad model .
  13. I thought as much as the logo looked a wee bit undersized to me from observations. But I am not a professional and I am glad that Hornby are going to look into that and hopefully when they do fix the logo issue. I bet that this model will fly off the shelves and perhaps it would be a good motivator for Hornby to swiftly tackle this as then when people get their Christmas spending money. That would probably pay off via increased sales of this model. Optimistic thinking? Aye I would think so because if I was a Hornby retailer, I would be on the phone to them proposing this solution to them right now. But I am nothing more than just a private customer, so I don't have that leverage unfortunately . I will just keep my fingers crossed that something good will prevail from this issue.
  14. Hi Samuel, Thanks for that and for highlighting my slip up there. I meant to put Class 73 but for some silly reason. I had the Class 87 on my brain and as far as I am aware. The Class 87 is an AC locomotive and doesn't have third rail capability for DC mode as where the Class 73 is an electro-diesel and can either run on its own power or on the juice from the third rail. Apologies for my glitch there mate ;). That with a rake of Mk5's from Accurascale would look cool even on a small layout that take one of those trains . Technically its not accurate for an ex-Lima model but it would "fill" the gap unless Hornby decided to make an all new Class 73/9 from scratch?
  15. Time for my wishlist to come Locomotives: Class 60 - GBRF (Possibly 60095/60021 in the default livery or 60026 in the "Blue" livery) Class 60 - Large Logo DB Cargo Red Class 60 - EWS with the yellow headlight clusters like 60008/60075/60009 etc Class 60 - DC Rail (60046/60055/60039 or 60028) Class 87 - Caledonian Sleeper Class 67 - DB Cargo/Large Logo Class 43 HST - East Midlands Trains 11 years branding.+ Mk3's with lights Class 50 - BR Large Logo as 50038 "Formidable" Now its time to push the envelope out into the open for my freight wagons wishlist TEA Tank Wagons (new tooling and models that won't fall to pieces like some of my Revolution/Rapido ones did) - VTG/EWS etc. TDA Tank Wagons (New Tooling and a new model here) Murco/Total and de-branded liveries. These were built between 1991 to 1993 to replace older wagons. Other new models are coming from other makes for 2020 so my suggestions here is quite a short one compared to other years .
  16. That's good to know that Hornby are doing something about this issue. That's a start and I will buy a model of this once its been "patched" to look correct. Things are looking up for Hornby since Simon has returned to the big chair .
  17. I too was looking forward to getting this model as I am very fond of the triple grey livery on the Class 60. But upon checking the e-mail notification from both Hattons and Rails and seeing the photos. I was sadly disappointed that the logo on the model was in the wrong position because the 60090 and 60062 models that was Coal and Petroleum liveries had the logos in the correct position. As a loyal Hornby customer (NOT "consumer" as we cannot eat a model train! ) I expected the logo to be in the same position as it is on the packaging and in the catalogue and even so on Hornby's website. It is very sad to say that via observations of the past two models and now this one that has recently joined us. Hornby appears to struggle on getting the triple grey livery in any form right. Some experienced modellers may have the skills to "patch" a brand new model that is a fresh release to "make it right" but some of us cannot do this due to lack of experience and even if we could. It is the responsibility of Hornby to get it right and if the model was a Railroad cheap end model with basic detailing and stuff then I wouldn't say anything. But this is a premium model that is over £160 and things like this should NOT be happening and Hornby needs to get on top of this issue. Perhaps Hornby could do a recall and "patch" the models with the correctly positioned logos and then perhaps they would get more customers that would buy this Class 60. Northcord Model Company did this with one of their model buses when they saw that the logo positioning was wrong and the "patched" models sold fine which was the Reading Buses Alexander-Dennis Enviro 400 MMC model. So if a small company like Northcord can do this then the question that begs to be asked is "Why can't Hornby?" . Peace.
  18. Out of interest, were there any samples of the Class 92's at Warley this weekend? I couldn't go due to other commitments :).
  19. Personally I am not bothered either way in regards to a working pantograph. As long as it is poseable, I am fine with that because it will still be a grand model in my opinion anyway.
  20. Thanks for the update on the Class 92. Take as long as you need to make the model right. I am in no rush and I am one that can wait ;).
  21. Thanks pal. That has just made my day. I am not used to this new browser yet and everything looks shrunk on it but thanks for the help. I think I will be having those two with sound now and perhaps another three without sound so I don't get told off by the neighbours ;).
  22. I have a question about the DCC sound version of the Class 92. Has it been confirmed if the sounds will be supplied by Legomanbiffo? As I have been listening to those that will be provided on the Hattons 66 and they sound great and this got me thinking that maybe a bass reflex speaker with biffo's sounds would make it a better experience? I am pre-ordering two from Rails of Sheffield that are the DB and the SNCF ones :).
  23. That's true but as for me, I would more likely get chewed out than shot and even then I would only get shot with a blast of nagging due to over indulgence! .
  24. Yes I could. But another thing is that if the rumours of Revolution doing another run in 2021/2022 are true then maybe its best I just settle for about 10 for now and then pre-order 22 new ones at that time. Chances are that I won't have to pay silly money for them on eBay ;).
  25. Currently bidding on them. I would like about 10 for my Hornby Class 60. These wagons do pack some weight though . I would have 32 of them but I would probably get shot! .
