  1. Thats very good news for both the company and its customers. Very pleased for Quentin in particular. The complete Gentleman. Regards,Derek.
  2. I am sure Tony is missed at the Willoughby Arms in Little Bytham where he is quite a charachter, also in the lack of his involvement at BRM. I am very privelidged to say that this genuine and likeable Gent is a personal friend of mine and I wish him a full recovery as quickly as possible. Best Regards also to Mo and their two sons. Kind Regards,Derek.
  3. To me that sounds like Xmas & Easter rolled into one,but then I am a big kid.Seriously can,t wait to see them Peter.
  4. A bit Gilbert, more like a Lot according to Little John as me & you are of a similar age. :nono:
  5. I would suggest you have a look at a topic called "Black Notley" on here to see how good Peco "O" Gauge track can be made to look. I was very impressed when I saw it and still am for that matter. Regards.

    Hornby B1

Be better to wait and see what Hornby do over the next 24 months. Regards.
  7. I have dealt with Quentin and found him to be a very honest and trustworthy guy.I grew tired of waiting for an A2 and requested a full refund of my deposit. I was given a full refund without any problems. I do know its not easy dealing with companies many thousands of miles away and that seems to be Quentin's problem. However he is not alone with that issue even a much larger company such as Hornby suffer from these troubles. Kind Regards,Derek.
  8. Once John has Fitted a High Level Motor/Gearbox to the A2/2 and Built a B17/4 from Colchester Shed, that is. Looking really Good Gilbert, as you say once Pete has finished the Buildings it really will be the Dogs hanging bits.
  9. I regret to say "been there & worn the T shirt . On the Metropolitan Line of LT a maximum speed through Neasden of about 70 miles an hour still makes such a mess of a person that finding a human foot can be a difficult process. As Dave says the effect on a driver can last for ever and ruin a persons or families life. Saw it many times whilst working for LT.
  10. Gilbert the last single chimney A3 I recall was 60042 fitted with a double Chimney in September 1961 and she had a 94A Boiler & GNR Tender. The previous one to that was I believe 60038 which aquirred a 107 Boiler and Double Chimney in June 1961,but kept her LNER Tender. Gilbert I had you down as a Gentleman of the highest order, but really upsetting poor "Herbert Hopkins" like that makes me wonder if you are a bit of an Arse (anal ----- In more polite terms). . As for the mighty "Posh" Peterborough TOWN, (Ye Gods its always been United). They were plodding away in the old Midland League against the likes of Grantham Town (Gingerbreads) (Always a Boxing Day fixture), Goole Town, Grimsby Town Reserves (Mariners), Lincoln City Reserves (The Imps) and such like, but were often very good in the FA Cup,as were Grantham, who played Middlesborough and Swindon Town.
  11. Sorry 60027Merlin,but 60090 Grand Parade was shedded at 64B Haymarket, the real Top Shed was 34A Kings Cross. However I am sure you knew that and it was wishfull thinking on your part that Haymarket could ever have been 34A's equal, let alone better. They did however always prepare the Loco for the Up Lizzy to a very high standard. Know calm down Merlin this is only "Tongue in Cheek". :jester: They were both fine examples of what great work British Railwaymen performed in horrendous conditions. Did someone mention "Health & Safety" :nono: Regards,Derek.
  12. Good Morning Gilbert, If I had a pound for every time I passed through Peterborough North in the 50's I would be almost as wealthy as John Houlden. This is seriously one fantastic layout and really does remind me of the place and that wonderful period in our history. Progress and the 07.30 getting into the Cross at 08.40 is ok, but The smell, the sound, the steam and excitement of waiting on platform 2 at Grantham and wondering what was on the front of the Northumbrian or Heart of Midlothian was a joy to behold. The added bonus of joining the train and being pulled to the cross by Falcon,Kittiwake,Marmion or St Peters School York ---AD827, plus any of the other 202 Pacifics or 184 V2,s was sheer bliss. I even miss that horrible taste and sensation at the back of my throat whiilst bunking one of the sheds. I reminisce and yet the purpose of this was a short post to say well done, its an amazing recreation of the Posh Old Place. Regards,Derek.
  13. Gilbert, This is coming along very nicely and as you say young Tom is a very clever chappy. As for his Dad's photo it took a second look before I realised it was a model,I was so taken with the roofline of the Hotel in the background. Kind Regards,Derek (Grantham)
  14. Hello Gordon, have been away from RM Web for a while due to my health and so did not realise you were in need of an operation on your back.May I wish you Good Luck for next Thursday and lets hope you get your full mobility back. As you mention losing a couple of people to the dreaded Cancer does make you reflect.I was moaning yesterday about the pain I was in as we went around the supermarket, when I noticed a lady about my age in an electric wheelchair struggling to get an item from the top shelf. After helping her I gave myself a good talking too and have not complained since, although in a couple of days I will have forgotten and got back to being good old Mr Grumpy again.Once again all the very best for a full recovery. Kind Regards,Derek.
  15. benachie said:- I will PM t-b-g later and ask him to have a word with a mutual friend of ours who worked in the Drawing Office at Doncaster,If anybody knows this Gentleman will. Regards,Del.
  16. Beware Gordon, and if he starts mentioning things like are you a Man or a Mouse and who's boss in your home, its possibly leading up to words like Divorce. Then just remember his Line of Trade, otherwise he will stinging you again for his fees. Seriously I do hope the backs improving and I wish both of you a very happy new year. Also GN seeing the lovely Triplet Set at least I know why Whistlestop is looking a touch Balder over the last 4 months. Kind Regards,Derek.
  17. Easy! Ones been Weathered one has not. Sorry. Time Finsbury Square was in a Magazine.
  18. Hello Gordon, may I wish you a speedy recovery and a Happy New Year. Regards,Derek.
  19. It was very much a tongue in cheek remark, its a bit like switching to 909 AM at 17.00 on match days for Radio Five live if you want a surprise on M.O.T.D. later in the evening.
  20. Simon, save spoiling your Xmas by stopping you from dropping 3 home points.
  21. Recorded that to watch late. Thanks for that "Oggy1953". Still might still watch it as I have not been sleeping well lately. Regards.
  22. There Top Notch conversions Silver Link, but then why am I not surprised. I have to say I am little surprised by the critiscism of what is after all a Ready To Run Lcoc that as recentley as 2004'ish we would all have killed for ,well almost if you get my drift. Regards to All especially the Scarborough Flyer.

  25. Coach, I presume that photo is of 60128 "Bongrace" taken at Doncaster 36A on 29th September 1962 following a HO at the Works. This is gleaned from the book "Steam Works" page 98 and immediatley below this photograph is one of A2/3 60522 "Straight Deal" taken on the 6th March 1960. In both of these photographs taken by Gavin the Sandbox fillers are Green as is the edge of the running plate. Regards.
