    More progress on the goods shed. It seems to be taking ages but with approximately 7,500 bricks to stick on for this part I guess it will be slow. I will be making the second basic shell now I have more card. I will post again soon

    Hi all some more of my models.Sorry they are dusty and some with bits missing but they are at my mums one top of a wardrobe in cov. I managed to take some pics with my phone on a flying visit on Friday. They will be repaired when I get them back to wales!!!

    Goods shed I'm working on based on Richmond Yorkshire. Only one part started yet there is another warehouse to add. The whole thing is just over 2' long will take a long time and lots of bricks to finish! I can take my time though once I have the basic shell of the second warehouse it will give me the footprint to transfer to the layout boards.

    I have started on the goods shed which is based on the one at Richmond N.E.R. station. I have made the basic shells of the office and one part of the shed there is another warehouse to build yet(no mount board left). All of the office.goods shed and warehouse will be covered in individual bricks. I have no idea how long it will take or how many bricks it will take!!! At a guess a LONG TIME and MANY MANY bricks. I will keep you posted if sanity allows

    My gadget is for cutting half bricks crude but it works.

    For stubby to show how big the gaps look if you try to make a mortar course. The gap left is 0.5mm and it looks huge that's why I put them touching and let the natural radius define the mortar. Also most mortar courses are 12mm between real bricks and I don't fancy trying to represent a half inch at 4mm scale!!

    Hi stubby I have found a couple of test pieces I did, they show what I mean about the gap between bricks looking to big but I cant seem to upload any pics into this reply. I think I will have to post them in another tag

    No I don't I have found if you try and leave a mortar course the bricks look to far apart so I put them just touching. The edges of the bricks have a slight radius so you get the impression of a gap. I will post pics to show what I mean when I het back home next week. I will say that doing bricks this way is time consuming but very rewarding

    Hi Stu the chads I use are from Bob Dawson. They come ready coloured. For the slates I take a piece of copy paper and use spectrum inks from the landscape range. I will give you the colours used when I get home next weekend. Then mark out on the reverse and cut them out. The size is 8mmx4mm then just stick 'em on.

    My buildings for a proposed shunting layout based on Richmond in Yorkshire.progress will be slow cos I use computer chads for individual bricks. I must be mad the goods sheds are 2' long so its a labour of love. I have a coal office nearly done it still needs guttering,notices and weathering Brick laying has started on the goods shed. There will be a warehouse attached to the end at a slight angle, making the complete building approximately 2' long. All to be brickwork. Will post more on progress in a week or so

    Hi Kelly for all my rigging on biplanes I use 0.4 brass rod,which is glued into pre drilled holes. It,s a little over scale but looks ok. Some better pics of the DH4 and the only pic I have of a HP Hayford built from a Matchbox kit

    These are some of mine. I cant even remember who's kits they are but I think the DH4 and DV11 are Roden. The sordfish is airfix. I would love to build a Wingnut Wings Felixstowe F2a but where would I put it? it has a wing span of 3 feet!!

    Hi teaky don't know why but that's the way the pics load. Could be cos I,m using a phone(no p.c.) Stuck to the wall would save space though....all wheels on stock magnetic maybe?

    A pic to show the first window don't know if I will keep it yet it might improve when weathered,at least I think so. Unlike messers Robinson and Downes I,m not the best at buildings and I dislike making windows and doors. I guess its a case of practice makes if not perfect then better.

    Brickwork finished!!! Now all I have to do is do the next lot better! A few errors crept in so I'm not as happy as I could be. I will make a start later on the interior and the windows then the roof last which will have individual slates. I have also tried another bond as a test piece see pics below. Thanks for the interest shown. Steve

    Hi Teaky I do half an hour or so then go for a fag or coffee or both.....i don't think bob does half bricks and I don't trust a guillotine with bricks that small.....i like my fingers where they are lol

    Pic as promised. There are 2 different bonds in the pic,I don't think I will be trying to do a course of header bricks though the accuracy required would be beyond me unless I can come up with something that will give me a half brick every time.
