  1. I agree with the captain and rob the beams are necessary to distribute the baseboard weight and prevent stress and strains on the join of the baseboards. Track laying soon Capt'n? Steve
  2. Would it be possible for an illustration of your PRAT workings? Been having trouble getting my prototype to work properly and your undoubted experience and skill will help no end Many thanks in advance Steve
  3. Anderby creek is a club layout owned by the Coventry model railway club. The history of the layout is as quoted tho. The lighthouse mentioned in the artical is a model of one that existed in the south shields area, it was made of cast iron and was originally coal powered you will find it on google. I know cos I built it 10+ years ago for the layout the lectrickery bits were done by Tony Moss. I believe Railway modeller also did a piece on the layout last December All the best steve
  4. Couldn't agree more there is always some know it all twit who will tell you what you've done wrong. Usually armchair modelers at that. Steve
  5. This numbering thingy is getting complicated ain't it way over my head. Why not just pick a number and the hell with it? Whatever you do someone down the line will ALWAYS tell you its wrong lol Steve
  6. I think the cartridges in question were probable .22 as most army and ATC weapons used the lighter caliber and they were not waisted like the .303 round. As a cadet the only time I fired a .303 rifle was on summer camp. Sorry I've gone off topic again Steve
  7. I can remember my grandparents wrapping veh peelings in old newspaper and using them to bank the fire overnight. Funny how threads diversify ain't it?
  8. Who would have thought a question about transfers could turn up so much additional information? It shows how these things snowball don't it! All the best Steve
  9. Hi bill had a look on tinterweb bit on luck so far. Bearing in mind the lorry would most likely have been second hand I would go for a Leyland, guy, thorneycroft from 1910ish. Failing that an old steam lorry might be in keeping with the railway theme All the best Steve
  10. I'm in full agreement with Kirtley 800. The lorry looks better without the frosted glass screen and I would hope easier for the driver! Steve
  11. Good to see progress capt'n. I think it will look great when finished and weathered.
  12. Hi all thanks for the info. Still ain't found any letters for sides, and the tank rivits will stay wrong!! I had enough trouble with it the first time round lol All the best Steve
  13. There are no words to describe the standard of all round model making we are seeing here Sublime is a just not enough. Imperious might get close. Keep going Sir. More please Steve
  14. Ever thought of selling your framed photos? I'm sure there would a market be for them. Especially at exhibitions. What do the other learned gentleman of this parish think. All the best Steve
  15. Can anyone help? I don't know what the loco is. I guessed Manning Wardle but the wheels look LNWR and wrong for an M W Thanks in advance Steve
  16. I did hear that young Scripps stopped playing when the board got water damaged by a sudden shower. It was felt the lack of a roof was part of the problem. Evening games have been suspended,an electrical fault was to blame caused by the sudden shower that ruined the board. This was overheard in the boot room just before prep. Is there any truth in this rumour? Young Scripps would be a loss to the club. Mr Chipps It is noted however that buildings can deteriorate when you get an infestation of public schoolboys!
  17. Two wires is OK but only if you spend lottttts of squids on the bits that make everything go! All the best Steve
  18. Marvellous modeling Kevin, a joy to behold full of atmosphere. I will have to start building mine soon Best Steve
  19. Ahh, now I see, no water. It must have been the word wharf that led automaticly to believe water would be involved somewhere. Sorry Rob I should have known better!! All the best Steve
