  1. Thanks, I took that out previously as it's a removable accessory but it isn't the cause of the issue
  2. For anyone having issues with the rear pony truck (sorry if that's wrong name for it)...mine was derailing at certain points on my layout (all new track, R3 curves) and I put it down to the axle box within the pony track going too far from side to side, which was sometimes causing the wheel to be / on the rails (i.e. angled) instead of | (at 90°) if that makes sense. I added a tiny, tiny bit of black tack to the axle box in the pony truck, which seems to have calmed it down. Of course, you need to ensure that the axle itself is still free wheeling. Anyway, hope that helps. Great model, perfectly applied and gorgeous livery. Shame about the slightly bent chassis and the very poorly designed rear wheels...
  3. Would you mind posting a picture of your slightly bent chassis? Just want to compare it with my own...
  4. Thanks very much @atom3624! I have the new version, and I've added some weights though I need to order some more as only up to 360g.
  5. Mine isn't quite straight and does go about 1mm up towards tie rear, beyond the cab...seems like most people's do? It's so fractional I'm probably going to let it go, what do others think? Cc @PaulRhB...
  6. Hello! Would welcome any tips or photos for how you added weights to yours. How easy is it to take the body shell off, and how much space is underneath there? thank you
  7. Hi folks - I've tried to reduce the friction in these coaches including the kitchen cars, but I'm still not entirely satisfied with the top speed of my Coronation Scot and the full rake. Has anyone tried adding weights to the locomotive? If so, how did you do this, how much space is there underneath the body shell, and do you have any photos to share? Thanks very much! Apologies if this has already been discussed at length. Cheers, David
  8. Sorry John, annoyingly I can't tell, as it's disappeared from my pre-orders but not yet under my orders, and for some reason they never sent me an email when I originally played the deposit. If I find out will let you know - but from memory I think I was fairly quick off the mark to order this when it was first announced, like the first couple of days.
  9. I've had an email saying it's been dispatched (😍) and it's no longer on my pre-orders (but not yet in my account / orders section), if that helps.
  10. Was just on phone to Rails about something else and they said Rapido expecting Lion in April, looking forward to it!
  11. Money taken from my credit card yesterday 🥳
  12. Hi everyone, I see that BRM have a feature on how to build a miniature railway and that got me thinking about doing something similar on my railway, or...scratch building a model village, like a mini Beconscot or something. Has anyone else done this, and if so, I'd love to see any photos of yours or any tips you could share? Thank you! David
  13. Thank you, yes it runs perfectly. I got mine off eBay too, can't remember what I paid but wasn't extortionate and well worth it. One of my favourite engines, probably because of Oliver and Titfield Thunderbolt, and got tired of waiting for Hornby to retool it. So far so good!
  14. Hi folks, I've seen reference to these having running/reliability issues... I bought one recently on eBay that works great, but what do I need to do (or avoid) to keep it that way?? Thanks
  15. Cheers for sharing the info. The model is likely to cost at least £150, of which Model Rail will get a sizeable cut. I'll happily pay for that, but I'm not subscribing to a magazine just to get an update on its progress which every other manufacturer shares for free, and which they appear to share themselves via their own Facebook page 👍
  16. Was there anything in the latest issue at all? Cheers
  17. Puzzled by where they came from...pretty sure I've never had anything Wrenn. Wonder if it's from a Mainline coach, the Triang Pullman, or Grafar?? (I've tended to replace all the wheels on any old coaches with newer metal Hornby ones)
  18. Interesting! I was quite lucky to have, in my bag of spare wheels, 3 pairs that a) fit and b) were insulated from each other. Not sure what loco or coach they were from but possibly another Triang!
  19. Some photos from my layout. The Kato uncoupler works fine but you can also just stick a few of the magnets to the track itself using a dab of superglue. Any questions let me know!
  20. Not rocket science but in case useful here are couple of photos of some basic pickups I added to a Triang Class 31 I got off eBay. The copper strips themselves is Busch Copper Cable which is self adhesive and so flexible it creates very little drag. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/114195761476?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=D8zc5N4rRle&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=dgKw83tsSle&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY Works like a dream, no longer any problems with jerkiness when going over points etc
  21. Here are the magnets I got. https://www.guysmagnets.com//neodymium-magnets-c11/guys-magnets-3-mm-x-1-mm-x-1-mm-neodymium-ring-p91/s96 They fit perfectly around the little pin of plastic underneath the coupler
  22. No, sadly. It only works with knuckle couplers (which must have a little curled bit of metal attached (sorry don't know there proper name). I have Kato unitrack and use it for my Shinkansen but have a few older ear trains with standard N couplings. What I did instead is fit a tiny high powered magnet on my couplings, so they flick up when they go over the Unitrack uncoupler. Works well actually. I'll try and find a link to he magnets I got
  23. Appreciate the logic of this being a 'catch up' year but lack of any pre-grouping beyond those 2 S&DJR locos is pretty disappointing. What was the point of releasing those pre-grouping coaches if they won't produce any more locos to run them? Oh wait...
  24. If you want a cheaper option the National Railway Museum still have plenty of their Hornby Mallard exclusive for £140. I got mine at Warley. Is in gloss finish (but personally that's why I liked it)
