  1. Just phoned Rails to ask the latest and they said mid to late September, possibly early October if it gets delayed (but that they weren't currently aware of any delays).
  2. Hi folks, I'd like to my track look more realistic, but I have about 36m (approx 6mx2.5m, x2) of track so want to find the quickest/most efficient way to do so. I've got a woodland scenics pen to paint the rails, and might cut the nib thinner so it's easier to apply precisely. Or would it be better just to use a paintbrush and some acrylic or enamel paint? Thanks in advance, David
  3. I am just idly nagging, an update would be ace... 🙏
  4. Dan from Derails has said: "Having spoken to Bachmann Europe this morning, they have let us know that they do indeed plan on stocking the Talyllyn models but the ETA and price are unknown - therefore pre-orders aren't open yet" but that they are keeping my interest on file so it's worth contacting them if you're also interested.
  5. Derails are asking for expressions of interest btw - email sales@derails.co.uk if you are. "Now we must stress at this point that, being a weekend, we have not spoken to Bachmann Europe to confirm if this is a model we will be able to source from them, but we'd like to know if the demand is there! Therefore if you would happen to be interested in a Talyllyn no.1 should we be able to get them, please reply to this email and let us know!"
  6. This is great news, was assuming they would do this sooner or later. Looking forward to getting one in the maroon livery. I have Skarloey with a 3D printed smoke box door + detailing inside the cab, but having Talyllyn would be brilliant. Top stuff! It will be interesting to see how much they modify the loco to make it prototypical. Either way I'll be happy but at a minimum I hope they sort out the front cab windows (which are not see-through) and put some detailing inside the cab.
  7. It's a shame that they've not brought this out with a similar livery to Bachmann's E4 class, which I do have and it looks wonderful. I'd have definitely got it then but I think I am going to give this loco a miss.
  8. In the latest Hornby blog they have an image of the SECR tank engine they are bringing out in the Railroad range. It's a re-design of their Thomas locomotive, which in turn is of course the LB&SCR E2 Class. I'm still on the fence about whether to get or not? It looks smart and could be a good adition to all the other pre-1923 locos I have, many of which are SECR or LBSCR. Price is about £65. What do others think? Did the E2 tank ever carry a SECR livery or is this entirely fictional?
  9. Update - Keith from KR Models replied to say that the price difference was an error that's now been fixed (it's £160 not £190).
  10. Not just our models that have been delayed due to Covid factory lockdowns + shipping issues - new football kits for the season ahead also behind schedule! https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-62256634
  11. Hi folks, looking to pre-order this and had a question - just wondered why the Bellerophon locomotive DDC ready version is listed as £160 but when I add to the cart it is now £192? Is it because I'm located in the UK? Have asked KR models direct but wanted to ask those of you who have bought it already if they had the same thing...
  12. Good on you @rapidoandy, the way it should be! Same for me with Hatton's upcoming late-Victorian coaches and my Locomotion Stirling Single, Rails' Caledonian loco, etc etc. And thanks for making couplings "compatible with other brands of period coaching stock", very helpful! Looking forward to purchasing your Lion, just waiting to see the livery samples before choosing whether to get the 1930s or 1980s version.
  13. So not just the locomotive on its own then... 😤 Rapido it is though I hope they (or someone) are kind enough to make a coupling that is compatible with Hornby's Rocket carriages (which I have). If not may need to make one myself somehow... 🤔
  14. Absolutely disgraceful behaviour from Hornby yet again. Fully suspect the 1 item I pre-ordered from Derails (a carriage) won't be fulfilled by Hornby. Last time this happened to me, some people said Hattons were at fault cos they supposedly over-ordered their allocation...well whether or not that was true, I don't see how that can be put against Derails as they assured me they never do this. Hornby 100% at fault.
  15. Hi folks, can anyone recommend someone who can service/repair Bachmann models? Or has experience of using Bachmann repair service (I really don't want to have to pay more than £30 to get it looked at). My Class 85 that doesn't run well (jerky at slow speeds, lights flicker) and though I bought new/as new, it's past any warranty period (my mistake). I think it's because oil has got in the contacts, and whilst I'm usually quite skilled at disassembly and cleaning/repairing myself and have given it a good go, this one is too complex for me. Could also be a loose wire or its actually DCC and I need a blanking chip...bit of a loss with this one! Thanks in advance...
  16. Hello @Oliver Rails just wondered if there was anything to update on this model? Thanks
  17. Just seen a fairly large model shop selling on eBay a *broken* Hush Hush - one of the smoke deflectors is completely snapped off - for TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY POUNDS. World has gone mad...
  18. I've seen this used on a few layouts on embankments etc and I think it looks great - but what is it called please? It's meant to be folliage / bushes. Want to know what the product is called so I can search for it and buy. I don't mean the static grass of course. Thanks in advance

    New Hornby Rocket

I held out for ages but temptation got the better of me! It's great but it doesn't like gradients of any kind does it?? Has anyone got around this? For context my layout is meant to be flat, there's just a couple of places where despite our best efforts it's not level. Perhaps some bullfrog snot on the main driving wheels but then you'd lose two contacts... 🤔
  20. Hi Andy. Looks fantastic, and can't wait to buy one. Sorry if this has already been covered, but are you planning on having an alternative coupling for those of us getting Lion so that it can haul Hornby's carriages? For the record was completely on your side re events earlier in the year, but it would be very helpful for those of us with their Rocket and carriages! Best, David
  21. Thanks Mike and to @NHY 581 for your advice, the video was helpful. I had already got the motor for £10 (inc postage) but will be sure to use Lendon's another time, I have used them before! Have soldered it in and seems to be OK on testing - now to run it on my layout and check it's all right!
  22. Hi folks - the motor on my Stepney has stopped working. Specifically it keeps shorting in one direction (I've removed it entirely from the rest of the locomotive so it's definitely the motor at fault.). Has anyone else had this problem? Fortunately there's a replacement motor on eBay for £10. But pretty poor! I bought this new and have looked after it well since I got it, haven't had it running continuously for hours on end...so not sure why it's suddenly failed me. Any advice gratefully received, David
  23. Thanks for your help with this guys! I've now motorised it and it looks really good. Here is a video of it in operation if of interest: https://www.instagram.com/p/CdsmW7tIItl/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
