  1. Not 'alf as old as those of us wot remember Deltics ....................................
  2. Nope - that's a Bulleid - as is the Restaurant Car ...... the Open Second IS a Mk1. Wonder what the roof boards said - obviously on display for some reason.
  3. Indeed - there's a bit more width there ........ Farringdon would be even better with multiple levels and a junction - though the roof would be problematic.
  4. T'other wagon's of interest ..... looks to have inside diagonals to a four-plank body and a 'P' prefix number.
  5. I think Mr.Brunel's how-on-earth-do-we-get-this-round-corners innovative track gauge got truncated !
  6. Whatever route code applied to 'between terminus X and shed Y' would have had to be accommodated - and that would probably have been ( a tiny ) part of 'between terminus X and coastal resort Z' so would have necessitated the same code unless it qualified for its own.
  7. Thought there would be so I chose not to get depressed ..... apart from which there are so many different sleeper types on there it would have taken ages to go through the lot !
  8. http://www.cs.rhrp.org.uk/se/CarriageInfo.asp?Ref=4 ..... "no immediate importance" ( unless it becomes the only survivor )
  9. Probably not - Sleepers were not unknown at Kings Cross but only when Euston was out of action : - 20/4/19
  10. ... and, without checking, the twelve-wheelers probably not much better.
  11. Not the most exciting model, though .................................. unless you fancy a diorama of a class 33 smash ! ☹️ ...... but probably more exciting than between North Hanover Street and North Frederick Street.
  12. No doubt there were still a few surviving bits of 4469 on other locos - but probably not any blue bits !
  13. Definitely no access to the 'Trianon Bar' ......... the twelve-wheeled iteration was resting at Lowestoft North as a Camping Coach while the eight-wheeler had become the 'Nightcap Bar' on the LMR by that time.
  14. Another Sleeping Car that made it into preservation but has since made it into razor blades or bean cans. ☹️
  15. Didn't the Diesel Hydraulics have those peculiar Western sideway-on lamp irons ? ..... must've made finding suitable lamps in Scotland interesting !!?!
  16. Both colours were supplied by Gloucester R.C.& W. - according to photos in Keith Montague's book ........ possibly a change from black to purple brown some time between 1898 & 1909 - though it may not have been simply a matter of date.
  17. I like that comment about it being "a regular-sized van" ..... maybe it was, but it seems to have a very irregular sized platform lift on the roof !
  18. The Rivers had 2000 gallon tanks - and 'J' class very similar - while the 'L' class had 2,700 gallon initially and a little less when modified ....... even the 3500 gallon tenders of the 'U' class rebuilds gave a comfortable increase. ( Perhaps a little surprising that the - very non-standard - 'J' class survived so long ...... and their SECR namesakes, for that matter.)
  19. Must be minor - one guy staring into space and t'other asleep on the third rail !
  20. About the right colour for a Great Western Crocodile anyway !
  21. Apologies - I hadn't read http://www.cs.rhrp.org.uk/se/CarriageInfo.asp?Ref=952 fully and overlooked the words "at Eastleigh until 1973 then to Cranmore." ...................... must admit I didn't recognise the buildings as Cranmore - an' I was there in June ! ☹️
