  1. This guy has done loads - http://twitter.com/thingsivedrawn
  2. I quote like the stop/start feature of cars. But then we only have one car that has it, so it's still a little novelty. My Focus is far too old to have anything exciting - a 56 plate. I'm holding out to buy a new (used) car as I think next year, quite a few will be returned. Prices are expensive at the moment. Although I'm a little sad. Baby Son has a cold. He's really stuffy and struggled last night. He cries and coughs so much that he sort of chokes a little. It's more just a really big cough but his throat must be red raw when he does it, poor guy. Not that much we can give him though as he's on other medication but a bath vapour thing may be the way so will try it tonight.
  3. Morning everyone. Todays task is to finally buy a 3D printer. Mainly for printing board game pieces, and while resin is better quality, the extra hassle is not worth it. I will probably mosey into creating things for model railways. I have seen one thing that I think is a pretty good idea. The good lady took our Son out. She thought she'd get some baby milk so promptly bought some from the shop. However upon getting home, realised she'd left it on the roof of the car while strapping said Son in. I told her I'd have got it off if I was driving!
  4. Another dark morning here. Wondering what this second lockdown has really done. I haven't seen a large reduction in traffic on the roads (I'm a key worker so still continue to go to work) like the first time, but I guess people aren't that bothered really. But I did manage to bag a good deal from ebay on 4 pairs of trousers and a pair of jeans. Still haven't learnt to buy two if the product is good. Now I'm struggling to find good jeans that aren't "skinny", "super skinny" or "like tights" ... not a fan of this current trend and wish it would give up. But then I don't want to buy boring old plain jeans either! Tut. So this is what life has boiled down to. Where to buy good jeans.
  5. I think it's just a way for them to break away from PayPal I think. Means in the end, what you get paid is it. No more getting paid £20 but then a month later having to pay £2 or whatever in fees. While I have declined to allow eBay to have my bank details at the moment (I like holding some money in a PayPal account), I like the "no fees a month later" approach.
  6. And in case anyone needs reminding / too lazy to find the link: https://www.hattons.co.uk/stocklist/siteresults.aspx?searchfield=h4-66 pre-owned
  7. How are you finding the smell when printing? Does the wash and cure station work well? I was put off having to buy the printer, then an additional "finishing" machine but then found out it's best to use gloves and mess about with "washing" a resin print, then curing it. I'm not that fussed about curing - I'm happy to leave the print to air dry / dry in the sun for a few days. But it's all the other process that puts me off. Problem is, despite me buying a resin printer (and promptly sending it back), I'm now not sure whether the small board game tokens I plan on printing would be better in resin anyway and I should have kept it. Budget is small though, only £200/£250 at most.
  8. Morning all! First day of a run of early shifts today. However, enjoying Aldi hot chocolate more than Asda own brand. While it's probably not that healthy, it's certainly better than the old fizzy drinks and a step closer to just plain old water. Excited for tea tonight - roast as I forgot to get the stuff out the freezer to have it yesterday. I AM A MASTER AT ROAST DINNERS.
  9. FYI: For those that use Amazon, try Keepa. There's an extension that can be added to Chromium based browsers (so Chrome and the new Edge) that allows you to see past price changes of a product and will track products for you, then alert you when they get to your desired price. There's also an Android app...
  10. Wrong route given. Wrong route taken. And thanks @Accurascale Fran for making these accessible for many modelers. You could add another £100 and people would still buy but by having a pricing point that's high (but you're getting loads) it'll no doubt sell very well and the reputation that will come along with this will far outweigh any higher price profits - if that makes sense!
  11. Anyone else felt the cold today? Been great catching up with everyone's lives - what a great way to see what others are doing. Today has been fairly boring. Waited around for work - it's the only problem with the late shift. But I have a good few weeks ahead with work and I'm excited to start decorating for Christmas. Anyone who puts decorations up in November... I despair!
  12. Brill! Although I begrudge paying £4 postage, will get some LEDs and give this a go. Thank you sir!
  13. Would you be able to dumb that diagram down a little? Can see the LEDs, I guess the R3/R4 are resistors (1K is the standard I use for lights) but unsure of the other bits and how they'd fit into a track pickup circuit.
  14. Coming to the end of another good day. Managed to get to Home Bargains to get some small toys for 99p. They're supposedly £7 each but around £5/£6 on amazon. Just hope I have the full set now after taking the train into town. While it's not essential travel, it's also a safe way to travel. Walked 18,000 steps through, so treated myself to a mediumly tasting triple cheeseburger. I'm terrible!
  15. Can anyone tell me how bi-colour LEDs work? I have an old Lima model but it only has space for one tower type LED. Wondering if I should go down the route of bi-colour LEDs but don't know how they work - how does the loco know which colour to show? It seems some have three wires coming out the bottom, but others only two still.
  16. The end of another great day. Bought one of those fancy smart watches with cashback so actually cost me about £5. Been tracking my sleep with it the past couple of nights. It isn't that great - thinks I'm in light sleep as soon as I rest, but also shows I don't get much deep sleep. I do enjoy a good set of statistics though!
  17. What a great day. Finished the coach lighting. The boy actually crawled instead of dragging himself along the floor. My turn for a lie in tomorrow. Having cooked breakfast for tea. Went to the garden centre and the good lady solicited me into buying proper sausages from the butcher so ones I got out the freezer for tea are now defrosting for sausage cobs tomorrow morning. If you want a good day, set yourself three small tasks. Make sure you complete them and you'll feel better
  18. Just an an update to this, painting black definitely helps. Big light off: And to allay the fears of those who think they're too bright, a big light on view: It may make you think that with the light in, you can't see the light shining through anyway but if there's partial light in the room or I did some night running, it's worth painting black I think. I'll update when I move on to the MK3s.
  19. Also worth visiting http://isup.me But generally if other sites are working okay, it's just ebay that's the problem so restarting routers and this and that are highly unlikely to change anything. But I see you're using an older browser. Microsoft changed their browser fairly recently to a Chromium based browser (the same one that Chrome by Google is built from). "Edge" is the new name. It might be worth looking at changing and getting used to the new browser sooner or later as all these old ones are getting less and less secure and websites will start not supporting them, which will also cause issues like the above. Or they'll automatically forward you to the mobile website.
  20. Fairly easy to repair. I'd glue the coupling back (and keep it permanently coupled) on OR fit kadees in their boxes (look at Kadee 146) As for the electrical connectors, if you chose option 1 above, you'd need to resolder the connectors. If choosing option 2, I believe Richard at Roads and Rails have small connectors that you could use. Both options will require you to effectively re-join the wires together. As for glue, I'd look at simple PVA. I've tried using Super Glue, which didn't do too well with some applications.
  21. Last day before my 6 day weekend Need to finish off the coach lighting I've been banging on about for ages. Problem is that other interests have taken over and I've somewhat "got bored" before I finished the task - more so because I've had a long break from it. I can't be alone in this, can I?
  22. I'm sending the printer back. Not even opened it as yet but I think for my needs, a FDM printer would be better as I'll be printing some slightly larger things so the resin printer was just too small. Although someone said resin printers are getting cheaper / bigger but I'm not sure it's worth waiting. But if it does happen, I will probably be better and more practiced in 3D printing.
  23. What are the FEP sheets? I guess I thought of a 3D printer as a normal printer so just add ink (or resin!) and you're away! How does it work with using different colours? The printer I saw drew a line down the side of the bed to get the plastic running properly although that was the non-resin type of printer/plastic (sorry, I forget the name).
  24. Which is why I went ahead and got the latest Hornby INTERCITY MK3s in September. Sorry Oxford, yours may have been better in some ways but take too long and my money goes elsewhere.
