  1. Didn't realise they were supposed to check with you first.
  2. Can we just leave the standard Facebook-type "Everything was better in the old days" posts out of this please, particularly ones blaming faceless bureaucrats blah, blah? It's something that really, really annoys me as it devalues the actual subject matter with its contaminated and jaundiced diatribe that is an opinion bearing no relation to the subject under discussion.
  3. Ok. Obviously there were similarities in the usernames and the URL in your avatar didn't give further explanation. Let's just say someone not too far from you used several IDs a few years ago.
  4. No, Arthur was supposed to pull the sword out of the stone. Mr. Stone; you're nicked.
  5. I'm on the edge. I thought I'd let it run a little to see if there'd been any improvement levels; sadly, it seems not. I may as well lock it off and suggest anyone else reads all the previous topics and take their chances in getting resolutions or we'll still be watching this on Dave in 10 years.
  6. I'm closing this bad tempered topic off, it's not going to produce the answers sought. It never can.
  7. It probably is; it had quietened down until someone wanted to give an unqualified opinion. It all tallies with my sources too who aren't necessarily the same ones. :)
  8. Best not tell you all the wheels are too close together then.
  9. TBH if that's your criteria for acquiring stock I wouldn't bother about prototypical accuracy.
  10. It does, except it's leasehold. Lovely location though. It was certainly bustling last time we called in during the summer hols.
  11. Where @Phil Parker imagined he was...
  12. Some are close enough that will, with a little modelling, be sufficiently close. I've got a couple set aside for recreating ex-Maryport coaches that were used near here, in blue. https://chasewaterrailwaymuseum.blog/tag/paddy-train/
  13. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-stoke-staffordshire-67122007 I briefly entertained the idea when it was last up for sale but Mrs Y wasn't happy about living in the engine shed.
  14. It was Ramsgate, down by the Maritime Museum on the harbour. A nice spot and probably preferable to somewhere in Margate despite efforts to make the town trendy. At least the office has sufficient parking and is close to a significant retail park. It's still only got half a catchment area at best and is in the wrong corner of the kingdom for most potential visitors. There was a rumoured office move to Swindon at one time which I think would have been an easier sell.
  15. BACHMANN SCENECRAFT SUPPORTS WELSH HERITAGE LINE Bachmann Europe recently presented the Ffestiniog Railway with a cheque for £1,500 following the release of its Scenecraft models depicting Porthmadog Harbour Station. Models based on Ffestiniog Railway locomotives have been popular additions to the Bachmann Narrow Gauge range, with Ffestiniog-based examples of the Double Fairlies, Mainline Hunslets and Quarry Hunslet all offered in OO9 scale in recent years. Earlier this year some of the railway’s buildings were also depicted in miniature as part of the Bachmann Scenecraft range and a portion of each sale has been donated to the Ffestiniog Railway to help them to continue preserving the past for future generations. The cheque was presented during the railway’s recent Bygones Weekend, attended by Bachmann and during which new models of the railway’s locomotives ‘Linda’ and ‘Blanche’ were also announced for the Bachmann Narrow Gauge OO9 Scale range. The Ffestiniog Railway is the world’s oldest narrow gauge railway and the line that once transported slate from the quarrying town of Blaenau Ffestiniog to the harbour at Porthmadog is now a busy visitor attraction hauling tourists and enthusiasts through the heart of Snowdonia. Porthmadog’s Harbour Station opened in 1865 and the stone buildings as depicted by the Bachmann Scenecraft models were built in 1879, serving as the main offices of the Festiniog Railway Company, a role which continues to this day. In more recent years the station has been extended beyond those initial stone buildings, adding space for a souvenir shop and café. David Haarhaus, Managing Director of Bachmann Europe said: “The Ffestiniog Railway is a unique and enchanting railway that has captivated modellers and enthusiasts for many years, and continues to do so today. I am very proud that Bachmann supports preserved railways and heritage sites as not only do they inspire the next generation of Bachmann consumer, but they are also often responsible for preserving the very subjects that our models depict as is the case here. I can trace my very first memories of steam trains back to the Ffestiniog Railway and in some ways it’s the reason I am part of this industry, so seeing the fine models that the Bachmann team have created, and in doing so allowing us to contribute to the railway’s continued success, is immensely satisfying.” The Bachmann Scenecraft models are produced in 4mm:1ft scale making them suitable for OO and OO9 scale applications. The Harbour Station collection has been produced in two colour schemes of green or red and comprises Harbour Station Booking Office (44-0169G – Green / 44-0169R – Red), Harbour Station Main Hall (44-0170G / 44-0170R) and Harbour Station Gents & Office (44-0171G / 44-0171R). Models are available from Bachmann stockists, including the Ffestiniog Railway’s own shop, whilst stocks last.
  16. Very doubtful, I've not seen images or film of such instances.
  17. How we live and eat, what we wear and where we work and holiday are more damaging above non-essential discretionary minor activities in environmental terms. If you feel the responses are predictable it doesn't mean others can't comprehend the big issues when encountered with preaching over little issues.
