I’ve not read up yet but I wonder if you need to tell the chip not to use the speaker socket
-
If I plug the speaker in then we have sound. Just seems abit daft, this is my first loco with built in speaker that I’m using a txs chip mill
-
I might be being thick here, picked up my turbomotive today, put a txs in and set it up like my others, no issues with control, however there is no sound. The turbo already has a speaker, my assumption is that this speaker could be used rather than putting the txs included speaker in?

The next diesel/electric loco from accurascale?
jonnyuk replied to Craig1989's topic in Accurascale / Irish Railway Models
why would it be easier to better it, i have the new 21pin and 8 pin and they are both really good models, even if AS came in at a lower price i would not replace what i have. the new 21 has full lighting functions, controllable fan, cab detail, proper nem pocket, nice detail (non modelled grills etc), really good finish, good choice of liveries out now, sure more to come in Jan. the only thing against the Hornby model is the price. If you look at AS pricing for loco's and coaches, your still looking at £240 minimum (you can get Hornby stuff for about that now), -
wouldn't that be nice, the ability to buy something once it's released, rather than having to pre-order blind 2-3 years earlier as you do with 80% of the loco's from another company, and Hornby to be fair on a few lines. suppose things selling out on pre order is a sign of good product selection. If the cashflow can handle it why not keep a good amount back from pre-order for general release rather than a few scraps found in the warehouse or warranty items kept that are not needed? If the cash flow or capital reserves are not there does it suggest hand to mouth finances?
-
You do make a very good point in regards direct selling, all I would say is times a change and direct selling has its benefits, any company worth its salt now has a major on line presence, Hornby need a piece of this and can’t be blamed for wanting in on direct on line selling, have they gone about it thr right way, not sure but also not sure of anyway of doing it would keep the dealers happy. I’ll ask this, if Hornby could deliver everything they said they would, and when, whether that was direct or via a dealer would they still get all the flak for trying to go direct, I think they would.
-
AS also do favour direct sales and they do sell out very quickly of most items. They certainly look after them selves first by shipping Direct sales before sending out to retailers, coupled with a very good reward scheme and exclusives based on what are certain sell outs pushes that narrative. from talking to various dealers AS are not better at serving the dealer network. in regards Hornby it will take time for the new management to sort out supply and demand, the dealer network and direct sales if indeed they are going improve things, heck they might just leave it as is, which would not be good, they desperately need a fresh start on this topic.

The next diesel/electric loco from accurascale?
jonnyuk replied to Craig1989's topic in Accurascale / Irish Railway Models
really?????????? its a bloody good model already. there are loco's never produced that people would like or models from the 80's that need re-doing. Lets just stop assuming every model needs a refresh. -
doubt it, i owned one and to be honest was disappointed, not a great runner, detail on the body is poor by today's standards, it really needs a refresh and i can't see enough people wanting one to justify that. released at about £150 and it might sell in its current guise,

The next diesel/electric loco from accurascale?
jonnyuk replied to Craig1989's topic in Accurascale / Irish Railway Models
exactly, i'd say the 08 has two very good models, much better than the current 31 and 50 out there AS are replacing, surely better loco's to pick off. -
That’s just uncalled for and you have made my point, thank you. the member asking about the stay alives, no retro fitting, out the box they did not work, AS support where very help full trying to figure it out changing cv values. On plain dc the stay alives don’t function as far as I’m aware. anyway time to move the conversation on.
-
Picking up on sams video, I was very disappointed on the running quality, returned two locomotives to my retailer now and have decided not to try another, non working stay alives, noisy and also struggling through r2 and double slips etc. A very nice looking model it is, but if it does not run reliably what’s the point. not for the first time, it looks like members on here will not have a word said against AS and lash out when something is said, people are entitled to their opinion as long as it’s polite etc. now its maybe because it’s a forum and we are all “mates” and written words can be taken out of context but I do find AS comments sometimes flippant, whether it’s meant that way I don’t know.

ah ok, not see that, thank you, mods feel free to remove this -
quick question on the stay alive, i've gone back through this thread and some say it only works on DCC, some say you have to change a CV to change the length it runs for. with a non ESU decoder, does the stay alive work and how long is it suppose to run for. this is my second manor and on dc and dcc with a non ESU decoder the wheels stop as soon as you lift it off the track, is this right?
-
on the test track at the retailer it was a simple loop of r3/r2 with a few extra r2 curves thrown in to create an s, i would say the loco was not run in at that point but given my first displayed the same issues even when ran i wanted to check it out before leaving the shop, i was happy enough with the performance, just a little strange two loco's displayed the same issue (to differing degrees)
