  1. have to say i've seen the loco and rolling stoke at two different shows recently and each time i walk thinking they are stunning. I then remind my self its between this set and the Pullman which does actually exist, not both and so i keep my pre-order for the pullman. you could argue that in 3-4 months time i this will be discounted and so gives better value for money, time will tell though.
  2. whoop...reason found....thank you for your help. order to be placed tonight
  3. these kinda of flew under my radar but on Saturday i saw it running on the Hornby mag stand whilst i was chatting to the new editor. this prompted me to go to the Kernow stand where i stood chatting to a very knowledgeable chap on the prototype. I have to say they are really stunning, the fine detail, livery, finish, just stunning. i've tried to go back through this thread but i fear these fall just out side of my era, mid 30's, to early mid 40's just before nationalisation, unless i go current preserved (but i like the choc and cream livery) i don't think i can really stretch to one when in era stuff is on the way. unless someone can tell me how i cab get away with one (without using rule 1 😬)
  4. Why would they not tell all that an announcement was going to be made, for heavens sake give it a bloody rest!
  5. I’d actually put it another way, it puts out the raging inferno started by the usual suspects on this thread bashing Hornby on an announcement not yet made but jumping to all sorts of conclusions…………
  6. not sold out with Hornby i believe (but retailers don't have many left), it's had got good reviews with very little bad said about it, its a good loco, for Hornby i suspect thats a win
  7. i'm glad you said it, i was going to but feared of been shunted out the door! as is said on other threads, so many loco's to go for, why duplicate? i'm sure it will be a great loco at a good price with the lessons learned from the deltic, but even so.
  8. now that looks impressive, that livery really suits the 37
  9. i have to say i agree, over on the AS thread its full of froth and pant wetting, it will the greatest thing ever and my wallet can't cope, you don't even know what is it yet. Yet over here......someone mentioned about the loyalty schema and hammering the retail again....i'm sorry but any company worth their salt has something similar...why should Hornby be any different? And as for the new start ups supporting the retail, from what i've been told that's not a rosy as it looks.... given the negativity on this forum alone, i don't blame Hornby one bit if they said forgot the forum community, forget the retail, lets go it alone because all we get it from both is grieve.
  10. nobody has said it yet but has this announcement been brought forward because of a Hornby announcement at Warley, has AS caught wind its the same thing? if so i would say its something Hornby already have (and are announcing a re-tool), so a 50/60? i would say a 50, the 60 is still a really good model
  11. i assume then samples of some sort will be at warley. i was trying to zoom in on the photo's of their stand yesterday, see if there was something to spot on the off chance something new might be there
  12. interesting to hear that TT:120 TTS is coming in March, that's not very far off at all. thought it was a good Q&A session, Peckett is clearly on the way, as is the smokey Joe
  13. All due respect, it was not a few bits, it was allot of bits and it was more than one or 2 people. Every time you handle the Loco or run it you always wonder what you will find missing. the really positive is the deltic is a stunning model and your support is good, although I do feel sometimes AS belittle the problem, as with my biomass models “just shave a bit of the detail off” was what I was told.
  14. like that layout, nothing prototypical but you have a parcel bay, siding and in the top right to make a nice scene, with enough to have a through station as well if you wanted.

  17. someone talking sense at last. Let me turn this around, for those that are against TT:120 and in particular the way in which Hornby are going about it, please submit your marketing strategy, how would you go about launching a brand new range? Your all experts so enlighten us. I spoke with a few retails at Gaydon (one of which I've known for a long time) and his words were, Hornby have saved me from my self. Enough said
  18. i think someone asked a few pages ago if the fag packet powers cars are vinyl or tampo, i can't remember the guys name but he talked like a designer, he said they are tampo, i asked about the mk3 coaches and he said they had no choice due to the length of the coach and wavy lines, i did not really understand it but he said they tried tampo printing but they could not get it right, so vinyl was the lesser of two evils.
  19. From what I remember they are all frame mounted, Simon did mention the wheels are not the correct colour. they brought out the class 66 towards mid day but I forgot to take pictures, bogie frames looks good on it. I did ask Simon if they are tooling anything they don’t do in oo, his answer was no for now, also said they are up to phase 9 at the minute and planning for that.
  20. Saw the range today at Gaydon. I have to say I was on the fence, looked interesting and could see the appeal but part of me thought, nope. however seeing the range in person I’m sold, the loco’s are the perfect blend between detail and robustness, I picked them up and not once felt something would drop off, but at the same time enough separately fitted detail to look good. I’ve had n scale before and to be honest it just p*ssed me off with how difficult it was to put stuff on the rails, to hook rolling stock together etc, the slightly larger scale really appeals to me. with everything they have for launch would suit me, new era and location to model. Highlight for me though as to be the 08, stunning little loco. simon did say (and he said it many times), this is not replace OO, never will and it’s not the intention, he kept going back to size constraints of OO in the modern world, uni students, folk in flats etc. He did also the sets might be after Xmas now, they spotted a mistake on the Loco which they fixed but they missed the Christmas boat by a week, they are trying to fly them over. also the OO hst pullmans are on the boat and be here for Xmas (makes me a happy bunny). the smoke generating loco’s will be here in may.
  21. i know very little of the prototypes but they look good and TT offers me a reason to model a different region and era that fits under the sofa or bed as apposed to my OO stuff in the shed i can't really use for 3-4 months of the year, maybe i'm your typical target audience and if so, its working.
  22. 100% agree, some people (and usually the same ones) just like to knock Hornby for what ever reason, see the negative in everything with a red box. Don't get me wrong, Hornby have invited some of this onto them selves but still........Maybe Hornby should change the colour of the box for TT stuff to black and yellow? This is a gamble, is it a huge one, not so sure on that. Hornby would not risk it all on this venture, they still have a massive OO presence and always will. How much money have they sunk into it, where has this money come from, is it loans, capital built up over the last few years?
  23. they had allot of new stuff on show, maybe not to detract from that, also this looks a major online marketing push, going against boots on the ground so to speak. did anyone spot something small, tucked away in the corner, subtle hints anywhere at GETS (i did not spot any)
  24. next question is, with a clean slate in terms of era/location, what would you go for? i've always regretted not going with the transition years from steam to diesel in OO but i don't see allot in phase 1>4 to cover that
  25. given who now works for AS, surely he must of known about this. this is not something you dream up and get to market in 12 months, this is long planned.........
