  1. i spoke with my local shop today in regards the W1, all his 10000 where damaged (i had one on order). It turns out Hornby sent more than requested Enterprise and they are ok, so i've switched my order to that. Feel for the retailers, someone, somewhere needs their arse kicking and hung out to dry. The owner of said shop thinks they have been forced into the packaging, rather than broke in transit. Either way, very disappointing for shop and nothing they can do, as usual though great service and he has sorted me something else.
  2. way out of era and i know nothing about the prototype but, wow its a gorgeous looking loco/model, full of power and purpose . Here is hoping they drop in price in the next 6 months, i maybe tempted to get one.
  3. slightly off topic but is the lack of manufacturing capacity forcing Hornby to move to second rate factories or trying to get more out of a manufacturing slot by compromise on QA time? i noticed in the TV show that the Airfix quick builds are made in the UK (at the end of the day there is no skillful assembly required), are regular Airfix products now produced in the UK? i do wonder if a manufacturer at some point in the near future will bite the bullet and move back to the UK.

    New hst

don't know how you can say at the detriment of modellers who would prefer a better model. the HST is a good model already, it only needs a bit of spit and polish. i do agree with you though, they may have done enough to ward off anyone else who had to start from scratch. would love to see east midlands liveries, very eye catching.

Apologies for a duplicate post, Not seen that, I had a quick scan through the Hornby section and did not spot, got a link?

    New hst

Have I missed something that’s been common knowledge for a while? just watched this weeks Hornby a model world and they are doing an improved hst.
  7. sorry for been a dollar short and a day late, did these get released in Q2? i can see they are still pre-order on the AS web site. If not released yet, is there a delivery date? Given Hornby now do 60 in GBRF they will make ideal partners to it.
  8. good little piece, listening to him he mentions a couple of times about using bit for other things, in this instance the casting for the chassis is basically the same as the A4, now what did someone spot in the TV show on monday or last weeks, a EP of an A4. I wonder..............................
  9. maybe Hornby feel they cannot go toe to toe with say Accurascale (maybe won't touch Bachmann as they are another elder statesmen in the hobby) in terms of quality and detail (even though we are yet to see a loco because of numerous delays), where as with Dapol they feel they can and win.
  10. its like the good old days of the engine shed, lets play detective, all rather exiting. in the above pic there is an EP of an A4 or something similar, if it was for the W1 range then this must of been filmed along time ago. I don't see Hornby doing a new 59, Dapol are well advanced with theirs, surely bigger fish to fry.
  11. i did not notice the detail differences mentioned about on my gbrf class 60, i'll have a look tonight. the colour is sooooo much better than the class 50 which i sold on because it was so wrong. i do agree with the above, the class 60 (and 67) is still one of the best rtr diesels out there, i personally think the 56 is still a bloody good model, tons of fine detail. all 3 run faultlessly, well made, pull anything.
  12. who is going to make an offer of £1?
  13. i miss the technical drawings and such, its more of a sales brochure now unfortunately, those FGW coaches look very light (of course could be my monitor), i remember when i had full rakes they looked much deeper in terms of colour depth. Fingers crossed they are right about the W1 for Christmas!
  14. just checked, only sound fitted available. having seen the samples at GETS i was gutted i did not bite. Luckily i jumped on this this morning bagged a non sound version.
  15. i know the model is plastic, but its looks really plastic in the video, dare i say cheap. Not really explaining my self but hopefully you get what i mean.
  16. i never noticed but on the back of the box there is a label for D1033 Western Trooper in Black Standard BR Inter City Arrows Full Yellow Ends Light Medium Weathering i do think this is a custom renumber and weathering job by olivia's trains. what it was originally who knows.
  17. the box does have a olivia's train label on it but rails put their own label over the top and its torn the important bit, running number, all i can see is BR black. Its a 00 gauge. i can only assume its either been renumbered or some limited edition from OT.
  18. maybe its not actually preserved. i did a quick google yesterday before the purchase and i'm sure i found it in preservation. a google today seems to show its not...slightly confused now
  19. hi all, after abit of help. I picked up a western yesterday from rails at GETS, d1035 yeoman. Its in BR black and is supposedly originally an olvia's trains model. i can't find any details on it in regards model form. looks like Heljan did it in BR green but not BR black
  20. i agree with this. you cannot compare Hornby to smaller/new loco manufacturers. Hornby have a huge product range. Hornby cannot make all the parts for all their loco's, just not practical. Lets ask the same question in 5 years time in regards "other" manufactures, i could be wrong and they have a warehouse full of spare parts for all their dozens and dozens of loco's but i doubt it.
  21. my was damaged decoder end as well. before purchase i did ask for more detailed pictures and also a test run which Hattons did for me, thats great custome service. to secure the purchase i used the trunk service (i asked before i purchased if i can cancel trunk items and they said yes). if it was a new purchase i would send it back, it was only because it was bought with a known issue that took it to bits and do a repair.
  22. to be honest i've not tried it, its the most obvious thing to try... i bought mine from hattons i as a pre-owned with a similar issue. the pivot was not broken on mine as the screw through the chassis to the bogie was still in tact, my issue was the plastic bracket that encases the top of the boggie and reduces the slop. if you take it apart though you can see how it works very easily, a little bit of super clue and its good as new, saved my self £50 doing this.
  23. thank you, this confirms my theory as well..i'll keep digging
  24. yep i'm using the recommended decoder, everything works but when i put directional lighting on the speed drops to a crawl which is why i suspect its a decoder configuration. I agree with your comment about Heljan forcing you to use 1 decoder, unless your a whiz with re-programming, how many of us can do that. i've worked in IT for 25 years and very IT literate (also a developer), could i get to grips with re-programming, not a chance!
  25. i've not been able to suss the above, anybody else has similar issues?
