  1. With a bit more manual perseverance (not Google), I was able to find somewhere with it showing as in stock - the original Provincial too (which also showed as arrived at Barwell)…. so maybe these two genuinely are in the UK now ! I will await arrival with my retailer of choice and then spend some money - feels like it’s been ages since I bought any Farish….
  2. Is there some ‘creative accounting’ going on at Bachmann in claiming this has arrived but yet no one has it available…. Item No. 371-335 Product Class 150/2 2-Car DMU 150220 Northern Arrived Price £219.95 …. or do we think this is just a typo on their website?…. would be great if it was here - looking forward to this (& the ATW version).
  3. I’m actually pretty happy with this announcement for several reasons…. 1) my expectations were literally zero…. so anything in it for me more than nothing was going to be a positive outcome! 2) I operate DC and DCC but I only buy DCC ready locos, otherwise they’d be limited to the DC layout…. so when I saw that the 08 has received the DCC treatment, I was very happy - doubly so because of the RSS 08 - I’d always fancied one of those, but never actually expected Farish would produce RTR! 3) the TfW 769 - whilst pleasantly surprised to see that Farish have done this, frankly, it was blindingly logical and I would like to think they had accounted for this in their 319 tooling right from the outset…. I will certainly have one, but at £300 [discounted], that is what; £50 for each trailer and £150 for the powered vehicle…. I guess that is about what could be expected these days [sigh]….
  4. Yep, you are absolutely right - and only any one end as well - what were the chances!…. makes for some interesting variation I suppose…..
  5. Are there any?…. the only thing that I can see that is different is the ‘BI’ depot label - 204 has is directly above the right-most marker light on both ends, whereas 206 seems either to not have it, or when it is present, is immediately adjacent to the running number…. Other than that, I cannot see any difference…. from what I’ve seen the livery application on the Southern 313 fleet is pretty consistent; certainly compared to other liveries the 313 has appeared in!
  6. I am still dead keen on a new tooled 91+mk4…. plenty of liveries never done by Farish; East Coast, VTEC, TfW (mk4). Would really like to see this project formally announced!!!
  7. Are we not due a ‘Spring 22’ announcement in the next two (or three) weeks?! Have they actually delivered anything this quarter?!
  8. This is my top choice livery too - FCC as a livery is completely unrepresented despite serving some of the busiest London commuter routes for a decade…. longer if you consider that the GN re-brand was just a sticker over the FCC logo….
  9. I think it would probably have been more useful if the “what scale do you model” question was up front - I model N, but I still got all the sprung buffers questions which I promise you really is completely obsolete for N gauge…. my conclusion was that it was a very OO-oriented questionnaire…. still a useful exercise overall though I would imagine. The sprung buffers questions all got one star from me !!!
  10. All these livery errors really frustrate me - does Dapol actually bother to QC their livery artwork?…. do they even look at prototype photos?…. are they colour blind?…. I mean, the colours on the FGW ‘dynamics lines’ are terrible - seriously regretting pre-ordering these…. this is the last time I pre-order anything of Dapol’s. Funnily enough, I had also pre-ordered the KMS exclusives and I’m pretty happy with the livery on those - I’m guessing KMS probably had to sign-off those and therefore actually bothered to QC the livery. The fade on the First CS white stripe was done surprisingly well, or as good as could be expected for N gauge. ….. which leads me to conclude that the problem is Dapol themselves….
  11. Being cheap to buy doesn’t excuse basic livery errors…. simple care and attention (and a QC review) should not add anything to the cost of the model. You can spend hours reviewing livery diagrams and I know from personal experience that you do get tunnel vision and miss things - but not such basics like the font and the principal colours! I think if Dapol didn’t have prior history of such errors people could be a bit more forgiving and put it down to a ‘bad day at the office’, but their inconsistency is so consistent!!!
  12. Nice to see this project return.... I used to see the Redland ones regularly in my youth whilst waiting for trains at Peterborough. The version I really wanted though, as it fits with my modelling (and also used to see in later years), is the LaFarge livery.... but, unless I am mistaken, this is only being offered with ladders [good], but without protection panels [what?!].... the protection panels were what made these wagon distinctive and is how I remember the vast majority - a search on Flickr confirms my memory is still fine! Is the lack of protection panels for pack CM PG012 correct(?), given that all the promotional material, including photos of an actual livery sample(!) shows the protection panels....! As it stands, the marketing material is at best misleading, but also seems an odd choice of detail permutation to offer, given the scarcity on a livery for which you are only offering one pack.... So is the spec on the RoS website incorrect, or if not, Is there a chance that an addition pack with ladders and with protection panels might be added in LaFarge? I had originally expressed an interest in quite a number of wagons when offered directly, but the LaFarge livery was offered with ladders and panels.... Would be good to get thoughts from the Cavalex guys.... perhaps the combination I’m interested in was the least popular when offered directly.... and I understand not everyone’s wishes will be catered for....
  13. Seems bizarre that Dapol would rush-out what will surely be the least popular of the sleeper liveries.... I am left increasingly bewildered by Dapol’s ‘game plan’ for N gauge....
  14. I also wanted the MRL version - I got clarification from Ben that it was not being offered in this initial batch - I think the livery diagrams showed all potential liveries, but not all liveries being offered.... possibly a retailer exclusive.... But like you, I decided Hanson and Agg Ind fit the bill, so that’s what I went with.... both !.... do it, you know you want to !
  15. So three years after announcing, we finally get to see something tangible, albeit inaccurate.... I guess Dapol were too busy doing ‘other things’ over the past three years to get the mk3 sleeper correct.... I’d be curious to know how many iterations of CAD they had and how closely they scrutinised it, because even a cursory glance (as detailed above) shows errors - I can’t help but feel they started with existing CAD from day stock and just amended the window arrangement.... Moreover, speaking as someone who has experience of CAD QC-ing, either their CAD assessment routine isn’t rigorous enough (resulting in errors), or they’re not too fussed about accuracy - sadly, one of these scenarios must be true.... Anyway, that aside, I’ll have them battering along at full tilt behind my Revolution 92, so I guess they’ll be travelling too fast to notice the errors....
  16. As it stands, this is currently only duplication on paper - until I see models, then there is no duplication.... I am 100% confident the Revolution 59 will appear in fairly short order.... whether the Dapol 59 eventually materialises I am somewhat less confident of.... Regardless of whether a duplication does eventually transpire, I am sold on the Revolution 59 - I know Ben and Mike will have done the ‘hard yards’ getting this model spot-on. Moreover, the [early bird] price point is really competitive for brand new modern standards tooling.... plus free postage - what’s not to love about that ?!!!
  17. I watched the Autumn announcement video this morning live - I literally thought I must have missed the Farish segment.... nope, I didn’t, but blink and you would have missed it....! I think the fact that we’re posting these comments in the ‘Spring 2021 announcements’ thread speaks volumes really....
  18. I love these wagons - really nice detail and livery decoration - I particularly like the ecofret branding on the decks of the GBRf triple sets. They seem to run really well and the inter-car coupling bar is surprisingly easy to clip together and surprisingly robust (so far!).... I’ve also swapped the standard coupler on the outer ends for the Revolution NEM screw link couplings - a long rake of these really look the part, especially without the clunky traditional coupling. The only drawback I have found so far, is that the tolerance of the container pips fitting into the locating holes is just a fraction of a millimetre different.... and I really mean just a fraction - I’m guessing paint slightly filling the locating holes on the deck probably means some of the holes are just fractionally too small or not quite the same distance apart as the pips on the containers.... all is not lost though, because in trying out all of the C-Rail 40ft HC containers I have, I was able to find at least one container that would fit on every wagon - as I say, it is really very fine tolerances, but not insurmountable ! However, for the middle deck on the triple sets, there are no 20ft containers that will locate, so that is a case of gluing those, if so inclined.... or just ignore 20-footers until @arran does his own 20-footers [please!] !!! Anyway, all in all, another awesome wagon from Revolution.... feeling like I may have under-ordered Freightliner twin-sets so might have to have a few more of those !!!
  19. Hi @arran would you ever consider doing an RTR 20ft container in N gauge?.... the Farish and Dapol examples are relatively hard to find these days (albeit they do pop up on EBay) and there are loads of liveries not yet covered. I also notice that the Farish containers are slightly wider than yours (at a guess I would think their width is incorrect), but it is somewhat apparent if you have Farish 20ft adjacent to one of your 40ft HC on a KFA for example.... the width disparity isn’t massive, but it would be nice if we had 20ft containers same width as the 40ft HC - so that makes another good reason to do them !
  20. Slightly OT, but I would love a 91 and mk4s too.... I don’t think Cavalex ever formally abandoned this project in N gauge, but it is not on their website anymore.... real shame, especially since they’d already done the R&D work - might be a real opportunity missed, since at some point soon the 91 and mk4s won’t be operated together any more and/or some/most/all of the 91s and mk4s will be scrapped.... sad times - one of my all time favourite trains.... Anyway, back on thread - I’d take a few K class Pullmans to go with my Farish 1960 Met-Cam Pullmans.
  21. Wow, what is this.... Dapol have remembered that they do do [new tooled] N gauge models ! Frankly I’m far more interested in where the mk3 sleepers have gotten to, for which I’ve already paid a deposit on the KMS exclusives.... !
  22. Nice one! I’ve been telling Ben and Mike for a while that we needed brown containers, especially TEX.... Other notable brown coloured HC containers that we could do with include Triton, Genstar, Beacon, Magellan, Chronos, CAI (technically red), MSC (technically maroon), plus others.... If you watch YouTube videos of intermodal flows, it is noticeable that typically they are mostly grey (generally Maersk) or brown coloured containers....
  23. Further to one of my previous posts; I can confirm that you can run a non-DCC chipped cab car on DCC without issue as long as the light switch slider is in the off position.... so that saves a few quid on decoders for those of us running pairs (ie. 10car) on DCC ! I also found this Kato motor decoder instruction sheet (in English), which others might find helpful: https://www.katousa.com/PDF/29-351-EM13-English.pdf
  24. Ah yes, good shout about the 466.... completely off my radar. The 450 is on its way.... I wouldn’t consider the rest of those you list as ‘modern’ (which I did caveat my statement with).... I guess ‘modern’ is a very relative term ! Anyway, I forgot to say that the 319 has a much improved cab face and I think it was well worth Bachmann taking onboard everyone’s observations about the errors to produce a much better looking model. Definitely a Northern one for me!
  25. If you are keen for a First Capital Connect liveried EMU, then Revolution are offering the 313 in FCC ‘urban lights’ livery, which is the same livery as the 319 and 365 wore during FCC operatorship. I am pretty sure you will see a Revolution 313 in FCC long before you see a Farish 319 in FCC ! I suppose that there is the possibility of a second production run by Bachmann and they could do FCC, Southern, the later Northern livery and LondonMidland and if they were smart (and had tooling to allow for the extra underframe equipment), TfW and GWR [769].... I think they’ll get good mileage out of the 319 tooling....! As an aside, am I right in thinking that N gauge is now better catered for RTR than OO in terms of modern EMU/DMU/BiMU?.... the only thing I can think of that OO have that N gauge doesn’t is the Thames Turbo.... I’m not counting any of the Bratchell stuff since it is non-powered and therefore not RTR if you want it to run!!!
