  1. Have Bachmann sold out already? Shows on their website, check stockists. Regards, c.
  2. Actually, with the Class 91, this person has a point. Remember Hornby announcing the Terrier. There seem to be certain red lines, where if a manufacturer treads on Hornby's turf, then there are repercussions. Until the new liveries on the old Class 66 were announced at Warley, then I had thought that maybe they may go for a Class 66 model against Hattons, as they only have the old Lima one and a new one opens up a different market, plus their sales of the old one, show the importance of the Class 66 on the bottom line! Regards, C.
  3. Yeah, and how many of those do you think people got a Warley????? (Card holders copy if paid by card, but not much else nowadays!) I do know one shop that fills in a Bachmann warranty fully, but other than that...........
  4. A couple of points come to mind. 1 - Surely QC in UK should have picked it up. 2 - Best for Hornby to admit the mistake, and make an announcement regarding rectification themselves. 3 - If they were to do number 2. A goodwill gesture of permitting people to keep the old bodies would probably go down well, and enable modellers to keep running any purchased models in the interim. They could regulate any claims as bona-fide by either supplying the original traders, or by asking modellers to send in either the small white sticker off the backs of boxes, or via sending in the coloured card front sleeve, or even dare I suggest, cut off and send in the description end of it, and then upon return, send out new sleeves as well. Regards, C.
  5. I think the way to look at it is, that its a big anniversary, so there will be a few specials. I think it really depends how Hornby want to celebrate, as in new toolings and looking ahead, or looking back at its Heritage, or maybe even a bit of both. Afterall, they have to satisfy shareholders and New Tools sell best! The most iconic and best sellers have been the A3/A4 so would expect that to feature somehow, and possibly Mr Kohlers favourite - the 0-4-0? The APT for modern modellers and seeing that Hornby used to do one, could be a possibility - just if so, I hope they have come up with a suitable pantograph option. Re-introduction of the Rocket? A celebratory HST pack? Who knows perhaps there could even be a naming, in partnership with a TOC? I think if they do limited editions, then 1000 is too much, and is more than a standard production run, if you look in the 2016 handbook where they state a lower number - I think it says 600-800 is typical. Regarding modern items then a pair of 50's in GBRf would go well. Class 87, then Original Intercity is perhaps the way to go? Class 60 - GBRF would be a popular one. A modern wagon, would really go towards challenging some of the newer market entrants. At the end of the day, if you do the locos, why not develop the rolling stock range? Regards, C.
  6. Progress! Can you please suggest this to the DFT! If they fit Annie and Clarabel with a toilet, wider door and a a couple of LED screens and volia! A replacement for the IEP!
  7. Just advising a fellow modeller so they weren't disappointed! Wanting to sell the majority of products direct and undercutting retailers is a different thing entirely, and done to death elsewhere. At the end of the day, all companies dump stock they cannot sell, one way or another! Why look on here if your not after a bargain? Regards, C.
  8. Would not get your hope up too high! Last year it was Screensavers, competitions, tips etc..
  9. Never knew this Hornby Guide existed. Its very good, but I would suggest there are a few errors. Whether they have used Hornby's intended production numbers? Example R2288 -56038 According to my info, that were never produced. Hattons have it on there website as record (but no photo!) Plus, when you click on it, it then shows R2288 as 56068 (again a number I don't believe actually got produced, although Dapol did 56068 in R/F (D12)). Plus 56068 is shown in EW&S, whilst the R2288 cat code is EWS with Beastie Logo. 56058 and 56105 were done in this livery (EW&S) as R2075 and R2075A respectively. Don't Hornby sometimes do computer generated images? I have found info on R2288 as listed in the following guises: R2288A = 56059, B = 56117, C = 56058, D = 56088. Before anyone says well there should be a R2288(blank), the year prior, when doing more than one number eg. The original three Transrail 56's, they each had a letter i.e. R2107A,B,C. Really good resource, and certainly not complaining, would just suggest a little caution on some of the details. Like I say, maybe Hornby originally intended to produce this? Possibly changed due to the front grille not being authentic to the early tool? Best Regards, C.
  10. Hi Andy, many thanks for the info (and sorry for stirring the hornets nest!). I expected it would be for a given period, but just wanted to check, before confirming. (Remembering the days of the Railway Book Club flyer that was in most magazines many years ago! I must be getting old!). Regards, C.
  11. Hi, been bombarded with this offer from a number of companies that I have purchased from in the past. After the initial 5 magazines, with the DD continuing at £12.49 afterwards every quarter, is there a specific minimum continuation period with the offer? (as the e-mail dosen't refer to one?) Regards, C.
  12. I have the NSE Route Learner - It runs, but very noisey! Its like a DC loco, that sounds like its got DCC sound! Regards, C.
  13. Hi, many thanks. Great info! The speaker certainly makes TTS sound better! Regards, C.
  14. Hi - just been looking up DCC Sound, as to options for a Class 50. Obviously TTS is the cheap and obvious choice, and came across Mr Soundguy, and wondered if his Class 50 was any good? Class 50 seems to be a difficult one to nail 100%. Have found Zimo Class 50's with others sounds. but not been able to find anything on you tube for Mr Soundguy. Many thanks in anticipation. Regards, C.
  15. Still awaiting a response from Lloyds. Sent an e-mail a couple of months ago, to which I had a "response" acknowledgement, and nothing since. Followed with a phone call - someone will call or e-mail. Another week or so, and still nowt! Getting a little peed of with them! Regards, C.
  16. Only seen the Bubble Cars, Bachmann Steam(thats been around for ages) and Heljan Prarie as bargains. Have not herd of anything else on chuck out. Maybe Hattons will have a pre-Brexit sale of the century? LOL! Regards, C.
  17. Interesting how things are the opposite, for us both. Worse thing I have found with the gloss HST, is keeping finger prints off it. My OOC has a slight scratch in the bottom of one of the steam locos, plus a ill fitted exhaust deflector, but apart from that it was good. But as per earlier comment, IEP seems to loose a little definition in its painting/printing, which for the money should really be bang on. As you say they are pretty expensive, for what they are! I still think the base green which looks a little "coarse" is the cause of the problems regarding livery application. At the end of the day, if the bottom coat isn't perfect, you cannot paint/print on it and get everything else spot on, which is a shame, as Hornby are usually pretty much at the top of the game when it comes to liveries! And the very fine lines on the GWR livery, are not going to be kind to the slightest imperfection. Regards, C.
  18. Mmmm, after looking at one - the green diagonal line does not appear too crisp and still find some of the silver printing slightly blurry, especially when compared to the HST. Maybe its down to the matt finish being rougher and paint not adhering as well on matt, than smoother gloss? On the variations front -would hope Hornby have looked at this in the design stage. There are enough experienced people at Hornby to know by now that if you do something "right" it will sell much better. Plus with the popularity of the models so far, would hope that would be enough to encourage Hornby further. Regards, C.
  19. Hi - my response was only suggesting that there is a good selection of Intermodal Wagons available already from Hornby's KFA, to Bachmanns FIA and FFA/FGA, Dapols FEA, Megafret and Davis 45', plus Realtracks Lowliner, and Hattons offering (Sorry for any I have forgotten, but you get the jist!), and that perhaps in view of this, then the likes of the Sturgeon (or HOA for that matter), would be a better option in OO. Nothing more. Regards, C.
  20. Don't mention the R/E mess! I did have 4 pairs on order - Blue, Dutch, DRS & Construction! But obviously that never happened. I am surprised following the Class 24 Bo-Bo, that Rail Exclusive have not gone down the route of a museum quality crompton! Particularly with the owners soft spot for the class! Besides they must have the original files they sent to H, for the revised bodies! The sound, if on par with the Class 24 would be magnificent! Personally, I have a few of the original Class 33's in all 3 variants, which I paid about £50 a piece for, brand new. Never bothered with anymore since! Regards, C.
  21. Whilst everyone is entitled to an opinion, with the amount of excellent intermodal wagons on the market, would expect there are more more pressing models for "OO". For something thats a little different, I'd suggest the Sturgeon. A little fishy perhaps? But would make a wonderful model! Regards, C.
  22. No reply yet? Must still be loading the second wagon! LOL! Would expect it to be either a commission, or, most likely a very talented modeller who has put the gubbins in a HO model! Very impressive. Maybe ask Faller to do it on their car system? Regards, C.
  23. Whilst not the most "up" person on 3D prinitng. 2 things come to mind - if you are using the latest (expensive!) technology, then the prints are much better. But like anything - use cheap equipment - get a cheap job! Second, that as it becomes better, and cheaper, as with most techonological things (apart from model railways!), then more people are likely to go down this route. I know if I ever get to do my mangum-opus layout, that I am hoping to use it, for most of the buildings! Regards, C.
  24. Modelling or re-engineering a Bachmann mess up? Regards, C
