Steel Works Locos
gpplumy replied to Busmansholiday's topic in UK Standard Gauge Industrial Modelling
Been working closely with KR on these and hopefully they should be brilliant -
Problem is we change companies! 3 of the 4 liveries were companies changes. The most recent 2 were to decide on a new livery (2017)
-
I don't quiet get your comment keith ?
-
There should be several differences between the locos. Including cab windows and battery boxes. Also roof adornments. This has been through working with myself and the Appleby Frodingham Railway. As you can imagine there was a lot less on the earlier 70s era than there is now. Attached below is the livery samples where some differences can be seen These locos are used in shared yards between network rail and British Steel
-
i believe it was the steelworks who gave the drawings, as they own them, not hunslet, as such the locos were built under contract

KR models have released photos and a video and a livery sample of one of the 4 Hunslet models being produced. at Scunthorpe we cant wait to see these models hit the retailers. In the meantime , why not visit the Appleby Frodingham Railway and see these locomotives for real at their home at Scunthorpe Steelworks. "Here we have a short video of our upcoming Hunslet BO-BO diesel used at the Scunthorpe Steelworks. The video also features lights and sound. It's not the final production model, some changes have to be made."

British Steel (1967+) loco liveries
gpplumy replied to Alex TM's topic in UK Standard Gauge Industrial Modelling
not all of scunthorpes locos were dark green, all of appleby and frodinghams janus locos had been the light green since they arrived under united steels. normanby parks locos had been dark green :) -
Time for another update This time a few more wagons, and a mainline locomotive first ive aqcuired some of the accurascale coil A wagons in some of the last livery they wore, although they never ran in scunthorpe i just cant resist a steel wagon and second is a class 15, D8208 was one of the first 10 class 15s built ar yorkshire engineering company, the birth place of the janus. Most class 15s spent their lives in Stratford and Ipswich. However D8208 spent around a year in immingham! A perfect location for running short freights to the steelworks. A second later model of the class 15 worked out its last years at immingham. The only 2 15s to work in the area.

Heljan Class 15 buffer beam details
gpplumy replied to Metr0Land's topic in Modelling Questions, Help and Tips
Does anyone have the Heljan sheet ? -
Thanks rich. Simon did an excellent job. He only parted with it as hes moving to mainline models for now . I can understand what you mean with the white cab and stripes. I was glad to have it join the janus fleet. I'm not sure however if the hunslets ever carried the white cab blue stripe livery. Scunthorpes loco 58 went from the origional yellow into the silver cab it carries today. So there's something to be said for the yellow. But the white cab is always nice Excuse the dead workers on the building roof in the photo below

Thanks to a good friend, I've acquired yet another steelworks loco in the 80s to 00s period. This is a thomas hill 4wdh steelman. It's been built exceptionally well, just requiring some plates and glazing plus a crew. Here we can see the steelworks owner and department manager inspecting the locomotive

very much feels like they were almost held at gunpoint to put this out 🤣. definitely feels forced

Its taken a few days. But the rolling mill finally has a large gas main ! Really glad i did this. I feel it splits the buildings height somehow. The pipe , flanges, valves and connectors are all from Goodwood Scenics Ltd. The brackets are all made out of 3.5mm x 3.5mm H section following the idea from the industrial model railways book.

would you be willing to do 144017 in pre 3 car livery ?
-
Will they be removing the square yellow panel to the middle of the wagon as well jenny? Someone here stated that it placed them after the steam era. :)
