  1. Yes, found it and managed to change it to 28 speed steps. How it got to 128 steps I don't know! Much better now and consistent with the other stock. I have v3.6 firmware on my Lenz system, so the manual pages are different to what you suggested, as is the way it's changed over the v3 firmware. No problem though, the issue was solved thanks to your suggested cause. Many thanks for that, much appreciated. Steve
  2. Thanks Nigel, I was hoping you might pick this up. I was getting the impression it was the base station rather than the decoder. The decoder might be an old design, but I've always had good reliable results from Digitrax, especially for the money! The reason I asked is that when I put my other locos on the track, they are 28 step! This particular one comes up as 128 step! I am using a Lenz LH-100, which means a lot of button pressing to get it to move in comparison to everything else. Puzzling! Steve
  3. I have bought a Digitrax DZ123 decoder to fit in a limited space in a small locomotive. The decoder works fine, but have an interesting problem. Unlike the other Digitrax decoders I have used, this one is operating in 128 speed step mode. Reading the documentations, it seems that the DZ123 is shipped like this. I would like to change this to 28 speed step mode but can't seem to find out how to do it. Does anyone know how to change the speed step settings at all? Any help much appreciated.
  4. Well, I have finished Michaels kit of LMS 7050. Great little addition to the fleet and something different. My version is DCC powered and has a working cab light. I don't know if the real thing had, but it's nice to see the cab interior detail! Be nice to see the LMS Hunslets, original Armstrong-Whitworth or even the Vulcan-Frichs! (Please).
  5. I looked at some of the pictures on the Railcar site and the lights don't seem to be mounted differently to me. In fact, the lights seem to be outside of the MU jumper sockets if anything. I had a go at a Class 129 a while ago, a DC Kits version slightly modified. Don't forget to remove the destination indicator, it's often left on, even on commercially available models!
  6. Looks like it, doesn't it! :-) I think there maybe only one chassis and it was under the black liveried version.
  7. Great film! Also reminds me of the cover on the old Playcraft catalogue, if you remember that. I like the train of Roadrailers too! I have a set of these on my train set, but sadly not the motorised lorry.
  8. Good find with the MR 1550 photograph. I built the Recreation 21 3D print version in later BR days. Not much to do to the print apart from adding some extra details. Below are two photographs of my efforts. B.E.L. No.1 B.E.L. No. 1 and B.E.L. 2
  9. Just thought you might like an update on my Derby Lightweight single car. Well, it's finished! It's controlled by that which must not be mentioned, apologies to Clive! It has a full interior with switchable lighting and working marker lights. It's powered by the last Black Beetle I had and has full pick ups on the trailing bogie.
  10. Why not almost the best of both worlds? One green, the other blue and red as Test Car Iris? As possible inspiration, here's my green one slowly getting there!
  11. Well spotted Clive! Incidentally, the preserved Class 126 has grey striped curtains in the 2nd Class area, which is what the general thought on the Class 120 has. Maybe Swindon used this material in the Sc79xxx, 120's and 126's? I don't think I'd be too far off with the grey and beige/gold combination, do you?
  12. Good point! It could well have been. Difficult to discern the precise shade on 60 year old film photos though. I think a beige/gold shade would be passable.
  13. Thanks for your reply Neil. Second Class light grey and First Class beige is pretty much what I was thinking. Good to see that you think the same! I only remember orange in First Class as I said when some were allocated to Derby EP. I'll go with that unless anybody else comes up with definite proof of other shades. Thanks
  14. I am slowly making my way through an old DC Kits Class 120 and have come up with a problem which I hope someone may be able to help with. I am building the unit in 'as delivered' condition and currently working on the interior. It seems the units had curtains fitted to every window, but what colour were they? The very useful Railcar.co.uk site doesn't say. There have also been numerous posts on this site, but no conclusion seems to have been reached. In later Blue/Grey years I remember the First Class area having orange curtains, but these weren't the original. Photographs I have looked at of the early years are black & white, so not helpful. What does seem noticeable is that the First Class curtains seem darker than Second Class. So any ideas would be gratefully appreciated.
  15. Thanks for that Arun. Maybe a call to Phil would be in order. Bit confused over the DMSO, it seemed to be listed in the 4mm section! No matter, I'll follow this thread and order a couple when you've done them.
  16. That's looking really good! I had a look at the Radley Models website, but couldn't see them listed. All there was is a a DMSO with an invitation to order. Are any of these available in 4mm yet?
  17. As far as I have found out John, No.20 was delivered in black. It was repainted BR Blue and never carried the green livery. This is my version of the Judith Edge kit made up. I'll hang on to see what Hornby's No.84 looks like before making another one!
  18. Great set of photos, good find! Perhaps KR Models would consider producing their model in this form then at least it would be correct for at least one period in its life?
  19. Curiously, the Wickham cab front frames appear to have been painted over during repainting. The sides seem to have been left shiny.
  20. Thanks for that John. A few ordered, so that's my Class 100 and 103 sorted!
  21. Thanks 97403_Ixion. It's probably about 20 years old now and I think it's failings are obvious in the photo I posted. I put the photo up so people could see what the A1 kit look like made up, if they hadn't seen one already. But as I said, it was all that was around at the time. Time for an update now and I'm hoping the KR Models version will meet expectations!
  22. I bought one of those A1 Models kit years ago! If you wanted a Fell, that was all there was apart from scratchbuilding one.
  23. I thought you all might like to see one of my 'nearly started' dmu's! Will get finished eventually!
  24. They're looking great and I'm glad you managed to sort out the wheel problem. The Realtrack chassis is a good way to go, but a Hornby or scratchbuilt chassis can work well. I have a Bristol Railbus and Class 140 running on scratchbuilt chassis using the High Level Kits Pacer motorising unit. These work very well and are nice and smooth, especially at low speed. They do come in various gear ratios too. It is what I'm going to use in my Class 141. Certainly worth serious thought if you get stuck.
