  1. It's a pity that such an iconic location is going to be nearly completely eradicated. However Brunel championed new designs and innovation so he'd be proud of what's to come.
  2. And a very well known bird: The GWR Railcar has partially photo bombed my shot there.
  3. Here's some photos I took when I went there in July:
  4. All You Need Is Love - The Beatles
  5. Pushing it, but wasn't there an A3 called 'WAVErley'?
  6. Train to Birmingham - John Hiatt
  7. Would it be like in an episode of Dad's Army when there's a stampede to leave the cinema, and only one person is left?
  8. Yes, it's a very powerful movie and one I'll be watching again. As you say the soundtrack is amazing and very powerful; I particularly liked 'The Mole' and 'The Oil' soundtrack. Apparently Michael Caine made a cameo through the radio of the Spitfires. Being rather familiar with Dorset as some relatives live there I recognised a few locations, such as the promenade at Swanage and the quay branch at Weymouth. I believe the scene where one of the soldiers asks a boy for a newspaper was at Herston Halt. Not quite sure if Mk 1s were in existence in 1940 though!
  9. Ah, here we are. 'Wizzo' no. D1015 'Western Champion' enters Highley, taken August 2016. As it was taken fairly early in the morning I wonder if it was maybe e.c.s. Have we time for more wildness?
  10. Can I postpone my wildcard until later? Despite having a reasonably good connection to wifi I can't seem to be able to upload any photos. EDIT no need!
  11. Red Right Hand - Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds (Now a lot more well known from being the soundtrack to Peaky Blinders)
  12. My local model shop, Footplate are selling 25 1-yard packs of Peco wooden sleeper code 100 track at £74, so cheaper than the Merseyside box shifter.
  13. Here we are Cal, and who can say no to a monochrome shot? (Taken August 2016) Sorry to go a tad O/T folks.
  14. For the life of me (and I should know this really) I don't know if Highley box was rebuilt at some stage, but if not I believe it originates from the 1870s. Cal, you actually beat me to it for the last request - I had a photo of both at Mallaig lined up! Now, another exterior view of a signalbox.
  15. Larry, the layout is looking amazing! And I couldn't agree more with Andyram, the last picture especially is stunning. I can just imagine that Pannier trundling to its home shed having dropped the last wagons at Carrog . . . Keep up the great work!
  16. Yes, many a time has Skip been slipping on Highley bank, and about this time last year it was out of action for at least three weeks after it completely failed one day. But hopefully those problems will be rectified when it heads down to Swanage as Bewdley and Bridgnorth MPDs have more experience dealing with GW and LMS locos.
  17. See my thread here: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/125718-sir-keith-park-to-leave-the-svr/
  18. Well I'm a fan of Swindon products, but at least they are preserved, even if miles away from home!
  19. It was announced on the SVR's website on Friday that Bulleid Pacific no. 34053 'Sir Keith Park', or commonly known as 'Skip', is to leave us at the end of the year and head to the Swanage Railway, where its overhaul was undertaken. It first steamed in preservation at the SVR and some memorable events have occurred since, such as a RAF dedication ceremony to Sir Keith Park (the fighter pilot) and a race against a Morgan in aid of BBC Children in Need. However, it does raise the possibility that another of the Southern Locomotive Limited's locos (maybe Sidmouth?) could come to the SVR in exchange for Sir Keith Park, so the sight of two Bulleid Pacifics in Western Region territory might still be possible!
  20. Don't Stop Me Now - Queen EDIT Missed it by a second!
  21. Does this count? Bit of an ask, the next photo will have 'Flying Scotsman' but not on a headboard or nameplate.
  22. Help, I'm stuck in and covered in snow and everything's white!
