  1. GWR 57xx no. 7714 coasts through platform 2 at Bewdley, running round its train, April 2017.
  2. Or https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dt1yHf1YxUs
  3. Oi! No harm in a Manor or two (or three, as we have at the SVR). The 43xx was produced by Bachmann many years ago IIRC. Presumably you have a photo of a 43xx that you'd like to share?
  4. Us modellers with a Swindon leaning could DESPERATELY do with a new version of these . . . Dinmore Manor receiving attention at Toddington MPD, May 2017
  5. Afraid I don't play the bagpipes, but I do play the snare drum that accompanies them. I think we're drifting O/T here, so to re-rail us: What do people do with dead scientists? They barium.
  6. But what would a Midlander be? (Being half Midlander and half Scottish I'm not quite sure where I would stand here!)
  7. I've never actually operated a layout from the inside, for despite my home layout having a well in the middle I operate it from the front, and Abbotswood Mk1 was operated from the right hand side. The layout would look very impressive at Warley, 27ft of greenery (and a bit of brown, maroon and blue) should add some colour to the hall with horrible sodium lighting . . .
  8. Am I pushing the boundaries with this one? The 'don't know which way we're going' logo on D1023 'Western Fusilier' at the NRM York, two weeks ago. If not, I'll have a trawl through my collection.
  9. Oh dear, on the inaugural commercial run of a class 800 IEP from Bristol to London the air conditioning had to be turned off due to a big leak. All the more reason not to get rid of the HSTs!

    1. Platform 1

      Platform 1

Bring back wooden benches and the cold wind in our hair!

    2. No Decorum

      No Decorum

The spirit of NB lives on!

    3. The Stationmaster

      The Stationmaster

But don't forget the other pair on the other diagram worked properly with no cascades of water.

  10. I'm very sorry to hear this, I saw Copenhagen Fields at Warley last year and although I'm a 00 man I thought the whole layout was stunning, especially the backscene and the operations on all parts of the layout. Hopefully the wagons shall be returned soon.
  11. It was quite a while ago now, but for about 10 seconds at the beginning of this video there is footage of the layout and Phil, Neil (Downendian) and myself at Toddington prepping it ready for the first visitors. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gu6lQB7srW8
  12. West Coast Railways are the usual providers of steam locos and stock for films (unless a preserved railway is used, like the Swanage Railway was for Dunkirk) - they provided two Black Fives and two rakes of maroon mk 1s for 'The Imitation Game' and 'The Woman in Black', both filmed at Kings Cross.
  13. Freightliner class 70 no. 70018 passes Leamington Spa, bound for Southampton Docks, October 2016 And as these locos were built in Pennsylvania then to get here they would have had to cross, yes you guessed it, 'the pond'.
  14. I'm Every Woman - Nick Ashford and Valerie Simpson
  15. Ah, I knew there was something going on that weekend, thanks for the reminder Phil. You shouldn't have any trouble with a rummage through the photo archive at the museum at Kiddy - although on a sales day, my father came across and purchased some photos of Beattock station in steam days, one with two small boys standing on the platform watching a 'Black Five' roar past. Were they him and my uncle? Oh the speculation!
  16. They say you can drown in a puddle, you know.
  17. A 16 tonner on the high siding at Kidderminster, May 2017
  18. I understand the Warships and Hymeks ran on the Oxford line, but did any Westerns? Or did they stick to running from Paddington to Birmingham/Worcester via Cheltenham? I would have loved to ride behind them when they were in BR service, especially on the Paddington to Bristol runs what with Sonning Cutting and Box Tunnel to pass by. Sadly I was born just a few years after they finished in BR service, but at least there's two at the SVR I can ride behind.
  19. Or better still, what with the M5 being completely gridlocked north of the M42 Junction because of the Oldbury viaduct repairs, just portray the cars in a mass traffic jam. Perfectly realistic!
  20. I've got a good idea for a cameo Phil; a farmer on his tractor in a field, trying to chase some schoolboy spotters away and shouting, "Oi, get outta 'ere!"
  21. Sounds like we'll be in for a great adventure with the new layout and I'm sure it'll be a pleaser with crowds and operators alike. But will there be room for it on your patio Phil, for those filming and relaxed operating sessions? If it comes to Toddington again I guess we'll have to tell the Worcester Locomotive Society and Western Locomotive Association to move over so there's room for the layout! And if there's a larger fiddle yard, might there be room for another Wizzo?
  22. It would be great if we could have as many as possible exhibited at a show. However, it would require a large table and so people can find theirs easily the cake boxes might have to be put in alphabetical order, even of RMweb usernames.
  23. Assuming birds are allowed? The Highley signalbox robin perches on the Wickham trolley in the rear siding behind the 'box, September 2013. He has been known to enter the 'box, provided there's part of a sandwich or sausage roll to encourage him.
