  1. I've heard that one before from the miscellaneous page of a society magazine.
  2. West End Girl - Pet Shop Boys
  3. Yes, I might try and accumulate some miles behind her. Despite loads of Terriers being built, I heard somewhere only 9 Ps were built, and at least two of them survive in preservation.
  4. Yep, they're modelling our own 14xx no.1450, and the models will be available from certain traders at Warley, which coincidentally will have the real 1450 as the centrepiece exhibit. Typical that I'm away for that weekend!
  5. Would hardly be complaining if they had a 00 gauge Western or two, mind, at a decent price.
  6. is dangerously tempted to model a small WR/MR diesel depot set in the early 1970s . . .

Oi that's my idea if Ashbridges goes or gets scrapped.

      ;-)

I must admit you did reignite my brain with the idea of a layout with sound-fitted Westerns and class 20s. Would be a shame to see your layout be scrapped . . .

  7. I appreciate this thread is for full size trains, but I've got a similar photo taken on my model railway with my Bachmann '8750'. May I post it here? *EDIT* Actually I may have found one!
  8. Teacher: So when the plumber comes round, if he charges a £25 call-out charge, and stays for an hour and a half when the hourly rate is £9, how much will your dad need to pay in total? Jack: £15 Teacher (baffled): Why? Jack: My dad paid cash
  9. Don't get much variety though on the Cross City line, with nighttime test trains (usually top-and tailed with 37s) and the very occasional charter. AFAIK 323s aren't produced by any manufacturer in any scale.
  10. Abbotswood Junction is one of those amazing layouts that makes you feel you're actually on the lineside, notebook (and sausage roll, crisps and lemonade) handy and watching the never-ending display of diesels pass by. Even when there aren't any diesels, the skylarks always sing!
  11. Phil, is it just me or are the 4th and 5th coaches along ex-LNER Gresley ones? I know about the famous one that was in use until 1977 but didn't know of any before that. Sorry to go O/T folks.
  12. GWR no. 7812 'Erlestoke Manor' heads towards its next stop at Arley having just crossed Victoria Bridge. A very reliable loco it is too, but it's boiler ticket expires at the end of the year. So you can see the hedges creating a border alongside the embankment.
  13. Wake Me Up - Avicci And here's the best way I think the song should be played: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=t5DVhoel7AA
  14. With a certain famous figure standing next to the sign, yes I know who you mean.
  15. Just heard of a blast on a District line tube in south west London. My thoughts and prayers are with those affected.

  16. I think I'm becoming prone to taking wrong turnings, as instead of anticipating the 50th Redditch show I appear to be in North Yorkshire! Seriously Phil, enjoy the show, a very special one, and I hope lots of photos will follow. It'll make a nice change to be in a warm school building instead of a draughty loco shed! (It was a hot day mind, at GWSR). Any chance of a small piece of SWMBO's millionaire shortbread afterwards?
  17. In this photo of Sir Keith Park is the footbridge at Bewdley station, photo taken December 2016. *EDIT* I've had to crop most of the rest out to get the footbridge in!
  18. Hi Jamie I believe it is €13 for adults, and €6.50 for children under 16. You won't regret it! Unfortunately I was there only for an hour but that was just about enough time to see everything. Quite why a HST set wasn't given a run out on the ICE lines I've no idea! And as I have posted here now, I think I've finalised the track plan for Kinlet, so will put up here later. Sadly the baseboards I have in the garage are tooo small, so I'll probably need to custom order some from one of the many baseboard companies, most likely Model Railway Solutions.
  19. Would love to Cav but sadly I'm up in North Yorkshire currently, and if I was available it would have meant a double whammy for me - Lichfield one day, then going to the 50th anniversary Redditch show on the other!
  20. Singin' In the Rain - Arthur Freed
  21. My grandfather was area inspector for the WCML in the Beattock area, so when they were young my dad and my uncle would be allowed on the banking engines (initially Fairburn tanks then class 20s) for rides up to the summit, then back down to Beattock station again. Apparently Scots Guardsman ascended Beattock bank unassisted a few years ago (or was it Royal Scot?)
