Indeed, this is correct. I do understand that there is a desire to potentially reinstate use in 3rd rail, there have been various questions posed to support this, but nothing is yet firm.

Have to agree with you, I was looking for a NSE one and outside of eBay, I could only find one retailer offering them, also at £250. Was just about to bite when a Connex one came up on here for £150, so snapped it up.

My understanding is when modified to run on HS1, it interfered with conventional equipment and so the DB fleet were confined to the HS1 and tunnel route. GBRF modified their fleet to be able to switch out the equipment, something DB have now decided to do. Simplistically, they select which system they are running on and the other is switched out. Not sure why it’s taken so long. Should reduce the need to run diesels over the 3rd rail network and if they begin to run services north again, plus traffic volumes dictate, it would be nice to see other examples reactivated. Highly under utilised assets just rotting away.

Those who have the RoS DB 92 may soon be able to model it running on the mainline. DB have performed the same mod that GBRF has on its 92’s, to 92011, it completed a run to Crewe recently. I understand that DB are looking to complete the other operational ones. Fingers crossed this may see some more returned to revenue service as well (not holding my breath).

Crazy to think that for the price of a rake of 5, you could have brought both Mk5 TPE sets from AS and still had change. Very nice wagons mind.

When I was based in Rugby, it was always a nice welcome in Winter seeing the fast approaching freight having a 92 up front, the short but sharp blast of heat. Never got the same from the other AC locos. Noisy mind, they generated a couple of noise complaints during the remodelling of Rugby, thanks to being slowed on the Trent Valley’s approaching Rugby, creeping past the housing estate in Newbold. One chap even claimed his house was being damaged!

Most of the TOC depots down this end don’t have anything, private yards have gates of varying degrees. Most are simple, some are substantial. The entrance into Southampton docks at Canute Rd being an example.

Sold out in less than 5 min. Hopefully those who didn’t get a pack managed to and those who only wanted to profiteer didn’t manage to secure any.

Must be getting close to releasing the unsold packs. I’ve had notification of delivery for today and I believe I was one of the last to bag an order before selling out.

Hi John, Dapol did acknowledge the error and offered to correct at no cost, though the window for this has since lapsed. I had a very quick look on their site, couldn’t see them being offered as spares, that said, drop them an email, I’m sure they will get back to you. I could imagine fitment may be fiddly, though I have not done it myself. What I can say is I had to return mine because of the poor fitment first time round. I think the supplied a new shell, the one I sent had a blemish on the windscreen and the replacement doesn’t. HTH

Sorry if this has already been discussed, had a search but couldn’t see anything specific to the 92’s. I have a sound fitted EWS 92 that will not operate with the Bachmann Dynamis Ultima. Controller swapped out with a new one, same, no response. Some functions work when using a Hornby select, but not all. Do I assume it’s the controllers ( I didn’t expect the Hornby unit to offer full functionality )?

If I had that, I’d have to get a 325 emu 3d printed to pull! Top class work there.

Question for the better informed, would the forthcoming 50014 but suitable for a renumber as 50046? It was the first 50 I set eyes on, back in June/July 91, looking very tired in its LL livery. I wasn’t in Salisbury too long on the day, my Grandad wanted to get down to Southampton for a XC back to the midlands.

I see there’s a sound fitted 16 on the bay currently. Sat at the £400 mark with time still left. If only people looked outside of eBay, could have pre ordered a new one for much less and with full warranty.
