  1. Some other items of stock I already have are the Buxton Snowploughs from Flangeway... and the Buxton stores van from Dapol... Simon
  2. Hi Paul Due to the fiddle-yard length the hopper trains will be somewhat shorter than prototypical, although that being said, I have seen a photo of a Class 45 with 6 ICI hoppers This will be the effect I'm after, 6 hoppers and Class 25 loco and banker to add the freight operation to the layout (seen on my Annesley Woodhouse layout for illustration, the board shown is 4ft 11in long) Thanks Simon
  3. Cheers Matt I agree and one of the reasons that I have started a layout thread is as an incentive to get off my backside and get stuff done! Cheers Simon
  4. The three scenic baseboards are finished, giving a total of 12ft x 2ft 6in scenic area... The fiddle-yard will be 5ft 6in long with a 5ft 2in traverser Thanks for looking Simon
  5. That is stunning. Can you get a picture in the dark? Simon (by the time i had posted this the above pic was already there )
  6. I see the vandals have been at the canopy as well!
  7. Thanks guys. Hopefully it will look better than the last time we went there...
  8. BUXTON STATION & TMD My new layout will be based upon the ex-LNWR Station in Buxton, Derbyshire and set around 1980-1985. I originally designed it to be a club layout proposal, due to the large space requirement, but Buxton was shelved due to seeming lack of interest unless it was wired for analogue operation as well - something my friends and I would not consider doing as we are all DCC. After a house move, I now have a garage to use and the "layout" space I have is 17ft 6in x 2ft 6in. I already have the track plan finalised and baseboard construction is underway. One compromise I have made is to move the cross-over away from the signal box and nearer the station so it can be "on-scene". This is to allow the stock movements to be seen and not done via the fiddle-yard. Eventually I will be extending operations to cover 1980-1989 at a later date, once I have the necessary stock to do so. I will be using Peco code 100 electrofrog points (many recycled from Jubilee Road) and the rest kindly donated by Matt recycled from his previous layouts. I intend to use Cobalt IP Digital slow action point motors (my first time with slow action motors) and my Lenz DCC system to operate the layout. The fiddle-yard will be a traverser (another first for me) as this will save on cost for pointwork and Cobalts as well as allowing longer storage tracks. Please don't ask to see the track plan: I have spent ages, designing and redesigning it, on AnyRail to get a decent version of Buxton in the space available and I am NOT prepared to let anyone else just copy it - at least until I am further into the project. I would like to thank Shaun, Matt, Mark and Paul for their ideas and suggestions along the way. Thanks Simon Note: all pages edited 17th-18th April 2022 to reload pictures
