  1. Work begins on the high street extension with a lot of alterations needed where the old backscene end board used to be. A new pub, old Victorian factory and an old cinema building are under construction at the moment. “The Plaza” Cinema building which will be a Bingo social club. “Drabford Inn” pub. Adding windows with micro strip.
  2. Tracks ballasted and to help the squealing flanges, two flange greasers added, thanks Dave for supplying these.
  3. Glued some hanging basket liner to the front landscape yesterday. And now with the greenery done I thought I’d get that Pacer flange squealing photo.
  4. Starting to look like it’s always been there, with a bit of paint added.
  5. Retaining walls nearly completed with top brickwork finished and final bits of capping added. Just got to fit some girders under the road bridge, but that’s all for tonight. Shaun.
  6. Outer side coming along using Slater’s sheets and MDF strip carved for capping stones. Cheers Shaun .
  7. Construction of the Retaining Walls using South Eastern Finecast sheets with Wills arches.
  8. 2.10.22 Road works at Drabford. A little more progress tonight with the backscene undercoated and some brown emulsion on the landscape. The footpaths re used on the high street but new ones being shaped for the extension. Drabford will be attending the Nottingham show, with the new extension in operation.
  9. 1.10.22 A busy few days on the extension board. Filled the landscape with polystyrene and supports in place for the new road etc . I have decided to replace the high street road as it was damaged and the board used was flimsy. So now was a good time to replace because the road surface will need matching up with the new board. New road in place and onto the new extension I used an old sheet of MDF with the paint splats on. Now there’s plenty of space on the corner raised area for some new buildings that I will be constructing in a few weeks. Backscene boards added and the polystyrene landscape covered with strips of an old yellow pages, PVA glued on. View from the sliding traverser, showing access to the underneath storage tracks. Cheers Shaun.
  10. 11.9.22 The new extension board is taking shape now. I have painted the rail sides, and started planning how the landscape will be. I’ve added the scenery formers to the baseboard edges. Now construction of the outer retaining walls begin. Drabford will be attending the Nottingham Model Railway Society’s Autumn show. Sat 12th & Sunday 13th November 2022. St. John’s Church Hall Nottingham Road Hucknall NG15 7QN .
  11. Check rail added to the tight curve running line, and the buffer stop fitted to the now extended kick back siding. Working on the road bridge at the moment, will be adding some retaining walls. The 3 fiddle yard tracks have also been extended and will be hidden underneath the new landscape.
  12. Well worth the while adding those walkways, the extra attention to detail to make it look like the real place.
  13. Definitely needed to upgrade with the fiddle yard now I’m getting more stock chipped. As for operation, it will be so much better with two running lines from Drabford.
  14. Legoman Biffo v5 . Yes it’s excellent sound .
  15. A few pictures of running session with some guest stock on Drabford . A rare visit with a class 50 on the new running line, while the 128 parcels unit rests in the siding.
  16. We can have a EMT day at Drabford 👍
  17. Making tracks to the fiddle yard 5 track sliding traverser nearly ready. A few feed wires to add and some sides to the traverser. Will be having a testing session tonight.
  18. I would love to be able to run full length HSTs , original blue livery of course. But in the meantime I’m looking forward to seeing DMUs squealing round these new curves .
  19. More progress with the extension board. Folding legs fitted and split hinge board connectors fitted.
  20. Before the modification starts And now the point of no return with the end board removed. The new board, work in progress, will be adding the legs this weekend.
  21. Looking good, really is starting to get that Buxton look about it.
  22. Now the station alterations are finished, I’m going to be making alterations to the other end of the layout. End of the line. But not for much longer, the buffer stop has already been removed and this was reused on the new station track. Plans for the next board are underway. A single line to a traverser is the plan. Also the road will be altered and the sharp bend (which I’ve never been happy with) will be a T junction. More grotty flats and other buildings are planned for the next board, so lots more work to do on Drabford.
  23. Station canopy all completed with paint and glazing added. A new Drabford station sign also added. The vandals have been smashing the skylight windows.
