I am pleased to announce that Drabford will be attending the Nottingham Model Railway Society’s autumn show on the 18th & 19th September 2021.
-
I think there may be some undesirable people in Drabford

I’ve made a few alterations to the shop fronts, I have added Slaters letters to the launderette and newsagents, also a colour change with the newsagent, as it’s new owners, its now “Sandhu News”. I was wanting to make Drabford High Street look a bit run down so I’ve boarded up the Post Office. Hoping to get this building mounted to the pavement soon, but now I’m thinking of adding some interior lights to show up the details. Shaun

Drabford High Street shops update. More progress with the newsagent shop interior details added. I have used the Scalescenes bookstall sheet for the magazine racks, confectionery stand and adverts. The counter is scratch built from plasticard, I am planning to put lights in the shop interiors, so all this will be worth while. There’s just one shop still to do on this block, and I’m working on that at the moment, Thank you for looking Shaun.

The permanent way looks very good now it’s all down. I’m liking all that BR Blue era stock. Will you be having any locos in Railfreight livery? Cheers Shaun

Hi Kim , I think the bus shelter kits would be a popular seller. Thanks again for my freebie .
-
I’m not sure the kit is available to buy yet. I was lucky to be given this one. I’m sure this would be a good seller as like you mentioned lots of stations ended up with these.
-
This Bus Shelter kit was given to me a while ago for use on Drabford, and now the road is finished I can finally get round to assembling it. Credit goes to Kim Durose for designing the laser cut kit and I would like to thank him for this. So before I get the glue and paints out, here it is in position on Drabford High Street . As you can see I have a South Yorkshire Transport bus, and I have been informed that the SYT bus shelters was dark blue for the period late 70s, early 80s. Any bus spotters with a picture would be interesting to see a real example thanks Shaun .

Yes it’s looking awsome I agree, but noooo not DRS 68s We want to see the BR Blue 20s, 37s, 40s and 47s and the smoking DMU’s

Tonight finishing off with trees and bushes planted behind the new wall. Here’s a few pictures now the road works are finished. White lines finish off the road. I will also be adding some street lamps soon. Thank you for looking Cheers Shaun.

I have been tree making using a dried plant “Sedum” from my garden. A few branches held together with masking tape, then painted with Emulsions, I use the tester pots. Foliage is made from teased out hanging basket liner glued on with cheap hair spray and scatter sprinkled on. They not perfect but they are cheap and easy to make and look ok when on the layout. A new wall added beside the pub, this will also have trees behind soon. The bus will hide the baseboard joint across the road. Thanks for looking Shaun .

A little more work in progress to Drabford high street. A new curved section of wall has been added and new footpaths to the new road layout. Capping from the old wall has been reused and a small slope area at the side of the flats added. It’s supposed to look like the road is going off behind the flats, where as before it was a sharp turn into the sky backscene. Footpaths painted and road markings added. Wall painted to match and a little greenery added to the side of the flats.

Thank you for the comments. The warehouse building has been on the go for some time with swapping and changing ideas until finally getting it to look right in the limited space. Next is the high street alterations, I’m hoping the street will look like it is leading somewhere instead of just ending at the sky on the backscene. Thanks for looking Shaun.

The sweeping curved track plan is making it look just like Buxton, and the raised head shunt is also a good attention to detail.
-
Something is happening on the high street in Drabford. Im not happy with how that sharp curve is, and how the bus looks like it’s going nowhere into the backscene . So time for a change, but unfortunately those flats have been removed for the new high street plan. Work begins with removing a section of wall to make more space.
-
It’s definitely starting to look like Buxton track plan. I like the idea of the crossover pushed forwards towards the station for when trains depart platform one they will not be running wrong line through the scenic break.
-
Definitely agree, the sky line looked like something was missing Definitely much better with the new building.
