  1. You could try using a long overset Kadee #149 mounted directly under the rear of the locomotive. You'll probably need some spacers as as it will be too high for Kadee's height gauge but should be fairly simply to install.
  2. I'm not familiar with the CC72000 but have several other Roco CCs. Easiest would be as @Allegheny1600 suggests above, just remove the broken gears and run the loco as a B1 1B rather than a CC. Most of my Roco BB locos will happily move ten coaches so the haulage shouldn't be greatly reduced and I wouldn't expect it to be a problem unless you are running really long trains. If you do this, and the axles with split gears have traction tires, swap the wheels with tires onto the good axle so as to have maximum traction and the unpowered wheels just collect power. Alternatively you could look for a gear and swap it. You'll need the diameter of the axles and gear, number of teeth and width. I have used slot car pinions before, but getting the right size can be awkward.
  3. Just a short word of caution. I have a Roco DB 211 BoBo - 43635 - from the late 90s. This is 8 pin DCC ready. I had two decoders fail in this loco and through discussions on another forum the problem was narrowed down to the bulbs drawing too much current for the decoder. I remember Roco catalogues had mentioned that if you were converting locos then you also needed to change the bulbs from 12v to 16v. I have other Roco locos with 8 pin sockets and bulbs which have never had any problems but they are just from the other side of the millennium and a lot happened in DCC in those few years. The spare bulbs listed for my 211 are rated at 12v60mA, the spare bulbs listed for the other Roco locos I have are rated at 16v30mA. It was a little disappointing that Roco shipped this model with 12V bulbs, but hey-ho, that was years ago. I removed the lights on the loco and it now runs fine. It would be well worth checking the bulb specifications with early models. I will certainly do so if I chip any more of the early Roco DCC ready models I have.
  4. Some limited new items from Mabar including the ACME Traxx being issued as three Spanish versions. This model was previously released under the Electrotren brand. https://mabar.es/es/c-55-0-0/Novedades-H0-2022/ https://mabar.es/es/c-56-0-0/Novedades-N-2022/ Most of the above except the Traxx seems to have been previously announced.
  5. @TTDB Who manufactures the containers you bought and in what way are you having problems mounting them on the wagons?
  6. I once picked up a copy of CM from a supermarket in Dubai, next to the copies of Hello for the western crowd!
  7. I see the entire Hornby International catalogue 2022 is now on the Hornby website. https://es.electrotren.com/catalogue/nuevos-productos-2022?sort_by=5&page=1 I don't see the link on the Rivarossi, Lima and Jouef sites. Only Electrotren. Also no sign of a OO pdf. That will give them all something else to moan about.
  8. A pdf of the Hornby International new items can be found here: https://www.trainsdepot.org/manufacturers/pdfs/view/708/hornby_international_news_2022_pdf I find it much easier than looking through the website and it notes new tooling.
  9. What I was more thinking earlier when I posted was that if the UK had HO scale then as soon as the 37/58/87s etc went off to Europe, then Hornby and Bachmann etc would immediately have a new livery option and potential revenue stream. @adb968008 I have a very similar selection with a decent length train of Sachsenmodelle Sleepers very similar to the ones shown above - which look great behind a NKP Hudson. I know OO and HO work fine together, but to me its wrong - so I painted my own. Details of these two Mehano models on the British HO side of this forum.
  10. I would suspect that if mainstream British producers manufactured in HO, many more US, Continental and other modellers would exercise Rule #1 to have a British model on their railway. I am thinking particularly of large steam which is a lot more colourful than its mostly black European and US counterparts and has a certain celebrity about it. Much in the way many non UP, or even non US modellers manage to have a Big Boy 'on shed' I would expect plenty to have a Scottie or Duchess lurking away to take its turn on the Orient Express. Being a OO market deprives GB outline producers of many potential incidental sales to HO scale modellers in other countries.
  11. Or with no imagination......... I fully respect those who wish to collect older models but wouldn't pay a penny for them myself. I think its good of Hornby to offer a 'high end' version of some of their models and Dublo seems as good a name for it as any. It would appear enough wanted the two previous years run to make it commercially viable. They will make a lot of people happy and that's what its all about - and company revenue!
  12. 'The Ghost and the Darkness' had two lions and a train.....and a cool rail bridge.
  13. Can this thread get back to talk of the upcoming Hornby releases in their Trains on Film series? Never seen (or heard of) Lady with a Lamp and couldn't care less about Titfield Thunderbolt so won't be waiting for either. Hornby really should have started with some decent train films - Northwest Frontier (1959), Dark of the Sun (1968), Closely Observed Trains (1966) and Edge of War (2010). That would really start to be a range! (Colin Smith posted as I was writing)
  14. Just picked up this link and hope I'm not too late! A couple of comments on the questions. #35 'Removable NEM couplings'. There is only one type of NEM coupling, that is the European design that conforms to NEM360. It is removable and must be or it is not a NEM coupler. Plenty of other couplings are called NEM couplings because they can be used with NEM 362 equipped models, but they are not to a NEM standard. #44 Close coupling mechanisms. If this refers to NEM standards 361 and 362, then there should be conformity to the dimensions in these standards. If a different close coupling mechanism is used on a model it should be clear that is the case.
  15. There are a few other suppliers out there which may be of interest to some forum members. http://www.mrcustom.com.br/Pages/Models/DE G12/en.html http://www.hobbytec.com.br/index.php And there are a few products in this shop also. http://www.perezferromodelismo.com.br/estoque/ There is someone else that produces decals who I found years ago but can't find again. I have never used any of these suppliers nor have any connection to them.
  16. The 303 is a lovely little model. I don't have any Spanish steamers but have eyed up the Mikado a few times... Christmas brought me a 321 which will be getting an IPA bath in the near future for an identity change into one of the contractors locos.
  17. Very much so. I think I first saw the Taxi livery in the 95 Lima catalogue when the 252 was launched and it had the same effect on me. Large Logo is about the only BR livery that showed any imagination. Taxi is definitely my favourite RENFE livery (except maybe AVLO....) And the one on most of my models. I must try and find out why some locos have the class and unit number in yellow and others white!
  18. I'm sure I read on Forotrenes that it was different to the standard version, but looking back it appears to only be a plastic pantograph that is different. It may be worth having a trawl.....Here's one post about it.
  19. I used Railmatch 304. Since then I have been using thinned car touch up paints which I have discovered I can get on Ebay to the correct RAL colour for the yellow - RAL 1021 Rape Yellow. These are lacquer paint and I think priced reasonably for the quantity. and so far I have done the white and red on a 592 and would have done the grey yesterday but my airbrush refused to play!! I'm happy so far and will be getting some yellow for my next loco. I have another AVE 319 which will be next in the IPA bath.... Is the Mercancias 269 from a set? If so, I think it may be a 'dumbed down' version in terms of pantographs and lighting.
  20. The Heljan model came out about a decade ago. The Marklin/Trix 66 was last year I think. Its an all singing and dancing version along the lines of the ESU model. I only have the Mehano version (and Hornby's Capt Tom) so can't comment on the others.
  21. I might feel guilty sticky an ESU model in an IPA bath for a week........... I have five Mehano Renfe locos - my main interest is Spanish HO Era V - and I think they are all great. There are also the Heljan and Trix 66s out there so it will depend on what is available when I get round to doing the next one.........and cost! I really must stop buying locos anyway and lay some track, but I do enjoy painting and have recently repainted a Roco Renfe 319.
  22. I have occasionally thought about layout /station names but unlike yourself, have not got round to laying any track so I have still got plenty of time. Thoughts so far include Teruel Norte and Cullera Sud. Mine will be based on an imaginary line in La Communidad de Valencia. I like the signs. (Edit: My Valencian wife thinks Punta Brava sounds suitably Catalan.)
  23. I have just finished my latest HO project repainting a Mehano 77 into DRS 66301. Once again, Steve @railtec-models came up with the goods and produced DRS decals and OHL warning signs. He can also produce HO scale nameplates which would be useful for countless projects and I ordered a set for 'Kingmoor TMD' to show the loco as it appeared in 2020. Paint was Railmatch 205, 210 and 258 with a covering of Railmatch gloss before being finished in Railmatch satin. I was going to leave the exhaust but late on decided to paint it with Humbrol 53 & 56. From the original model I removed the A/C units and Indusi shoes, filed off an annoying thinks just above the lights and recessed the horn covers a little more. When I was nearly finished I discovered that 66301 has a smaller fuel tank than normal so I had to lay into that with the hacksaw! I know its not exact and I had no intention of messing about with the lights and the cantrail strip isn't 100% straight, but from 24" it really looks the part (in my eyes) and I am very happy with it. This is my 2nd GB outline HO 66 and I have plans for some more.
  24. For the exceptional standard of the town, I would have thought a bit more effort would have been put into the rolling stock. Coaches aside, I don't think the rest could even be classified as Renfritos! I'm looking forward to your bendy bus pictures.
