  1. How about trying the new Microsoft Edge browser which is available for Macs https://www.microsoft.com/edge It is based on Chromium with several enhancements that make it faster and more compliant than Chrome - though you can use all the Chrome extensions within it.
  2. You simply switch off the forwarding of short circuit detection from the booster to command centre. I am not aware if a booster that does not support this and the 10805 definitely supports this feature. What you don't want in any layout is for a short or fault in the booster fed section to close down everything, you only want it to close down the area controlled by the booster. In the case under discussion that would be the track leaving the accessory bus active to enable switching of points or any other accessories.
  3. Is there confusion here between Java and JavaScript? Java is most definitely available on a Mac - JMRI, decoder pro, iTrain etc would not run without it.
  4. John yiu would be better connecting the track to the booster and not the accessories. the reason for this is that if there is a track short, eg overrun a point set the wrong way then the booster will trip out (if you have set it correctly) leaving the Z21 power alive to change the accessories and get the layout running again.
  5. Fleischmann, Marklin and I think Roco slips operate with one address which confused me when automating a layout that used them as have always used 2 addresses for a slip. Could this be part of the issue as Ecosystem hails from the same place? I also note that they often refer to slips as English slips also suggesting a difference in terminology that may extend into control?
  6. @gordon s A slight correction for you iTrain Standard v5 is €209, but an upgrade from v4 standard to v5 standard is €49 https://www.berros.eu/en/itrain/pricing.php Not sure where you have found the 79 figure Iain
  7. @PSi the clue was the Marklin plug - searching on the turned them up from Marklin, Brawa, Viessmann and a host of others.
  8. Does anyone know the proper designation for the 2.5mm plugs please? I need to buy some and I cannot find them anywhere - except this pair on ebay - and I want more
  9. @Robin2 The way I read it is it just cab control, but digitised. This will mean that it will provide the same benefits and problems, albiet changing between blocks may be slicker. The biggest detraction is going to be that it back the the track being in control and dictating what can be done as I see it as one train per block, not like DCC where you can have as many trains as the available power (almost). Then there is the challenge of needing to sectionalise the layout to provide the individual blocks for control - that this biggest drawback that people bring forward to me when discussing automation and computer control, their views aren't going to change their views because the electricery is pure DC rather than a digital signal. It would be nice to see it succeed, even Hornby are touting this sort of concept with their new Bluetooth control, but they have been talking block control for years and it has never appeared. Good luck to @oorail , though I suggest the he doesnt go to Dragon's Den for funding as he may receive a bit of grilling.
  10. You should be careful in considering that the UK predilection to using DC is representative of anywhere except the UK, and that resistance to DCC is universal. The UK is significantly behind the European market in the adoption, use of DCC and the availability of control devices and programs. My limited experience of the US suggests that DCC is the control system adopted by the majority over there also.
  11. There are 2 standards for Ethernet over mains, Powerline and HomePlug. They are both very effective with the latest Powerline devices being just shy of 2Gbps on a good mains circuuit. The one drawback is that the 2 standards are not inter-operable. I suggest that you stick with the Powerline standard which is supported by TP Link and Netgear. If you buy a kit from either one it will be plug and play and you will be up and running within 5 mins of opening the box.
  12. It isn’t DCC that is an issue, it is the chance that you take anytime you buy anything second hand whether it be model railways, electronic, computing - you pay the money and take a chance.
  13. And of course everyone believes this explanation - have you ever seen an auto-correct change words that are correctly spelled before doing a check, or even changing states into swamps? Nope? Me neither.
  14. Question (I should have asked at the beginning) have you tried running it on DC yet? It might just run already and then your issues are behind you
  15. I stand to be corrected but I think it is only the Roco ones for hat system, perhaps LDT but you would need to check.
  16. You don’t need to remove it. Take it to one of your friends (or a local shop, model railway club) and get them to enable DC running in CV29. much simpler and 100% effective
  17. I can understand that problem and that is a reason why I didn't go with JMRI
  18. David is this a problem with JMRI because it isn’t a problem with other software which has been able to change any sort of point motor for as long as the software has been around - the only tick is in making sure you use the correct type of accessory decoder and I suspect that JMRI is the same?
  19. Have you tried the other suggestions that have been made? Entering the Z21 IP address into the app settings? Entering the Z21 address into the Maus? If you don't enter them then they don't know where to talk to.
  20. If I was spending that sort of money I would expect it to come in a box with leads and have all the functionality without any effort from me - as it is you will need to bridge terminals somehow to make it work as it must have an input and an output side - it has to have that to be able to measure the current draw as an ammeter is in series with the circuit whereas the voltmeter is across the circuit. I will admit haven't seen one but that is how it has to work and if it as easy as you say why do they not sell it like that, or even advertise that it can be used like that?
  21. But not useful for using to fault find a layout as it is designed to be a panel mount across the terminals of you command station to give you the command station output voltage and current draw. Could have been an excellent and useful additional to a modellers bag of tricks, however the current design is limited in usability.
  22. Being silly I know, but you have connected the Z21 to the router with a cable and also you are entering the Z21 IP address into the phone and Wi-Fi Multimaus? The default address to enter into the phone and Maus is 192.168.0.111 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0
  23. Have you tried passing the information back in the block address rather than loco address? This is his I get the Railcom data back to the Z21 and iTrain
