With TMC offering R3458 No 921 Shrewsbury at £96.60, I too had thought to rename/renumber as No 917 Ardingly - reading through the thread, the cab-side windows are lower and she has the Lemetaire blast pipe/large diameter chimney also, but would be grateful for advice around the tender? Referring to @PJT's post I would hazard a guess it's incorrect, comparing the positioning of the toolboxes to R2827 No 925 Cheltenham? The best picture I can find of Ardingly is inconclusive (in my eyes, anyway!)...

With your daily posts, @KNP it's easy to become blasé about just how great these scenes are - take a step back and it really is hard call this as a model... Possibly the minor shadows behind the tree on the left the most 'obvious' clue? Thanks for the taking the time post each morning

Sorry, @AY Mod please can I trouble you for some help as well? I also signed-up for the World of Railways Plus trial and last Saturday (02nd) committed to a quarterly subscription. When I login to World of Railways it still only recognises my trial subscription (so not yet Gold on RMweb) and when I try to link my account I get the message that I "do not have an active World of Railways Plus Subscription". I sent a message to 'Web Help' at the beginning of the week but if you can point me in the right direction in the meantime it would be appreciated!

@KeithHC, having grown-up in Crawley Down, Rowfant (and Grange Road) are of interest to me and saved this topic for future reference... Purchased today from Bluebell Railway Carriage Shop, Horsted Keynes, was a book titled 'SOUTHERN REGION MEMORIES' PHOTOGRAPHS FROM THE BLUEBELL MUSEUM ARCHIVE (ISBN 978-1-906419-48-6) - in it is a picture taken Jun'52 of E4 Class No 32484 and Q Class No 30546 leading oil tank wagons at Rowfant for Norwood Junction (from the Government Oil Store). Focus is on the locomotives, but it's the first time I've seen tank wagons pictured. The book was £6.50, my sole reason for purchase!

3°C SE 15kt, gusting 28kt Bright and dry but remaining cold, despite the temperate being the 'warmest' for sometime. Last weekend's snow is just about hanging-on... With the exception of a few snags, the roof is now finished. Our neighbours have had to endure scaffolding in their garden for a fortnight now and it'll be a relief when it's taken down - hopefully a small bottle of something and a bunch flowers will be well received! I've been remiss in keeping-up with Early Risers this week but have tried to check-in of an evening. Work has been torrid for the mainpart and promises to remain so... No doubt it's the primary reason for my struggles currently, but in the current climate I know I should be thankful. We won a significant tender this week and in recognition my boss dropped-off a bottle of sparkling Brut Rosé* and a box of Valentine's Day cakes for Mrs C and I this morning - a cracking gesture though the stress hangs heavy and something will likely have to give soon. Breakfast became lunch (too late to even be labelled brunch) after a lazy morning, sampling black pudding from a local farm which made a nice change. We'll be heading out for our weekly walk shortly with a view to burning some of it off! Stay safe. *Coincidentally (after earlier posts) from Kingscote Estate, adjacent to the Bluebell Railway.

The roof is slowing becoming watertight and will hopefully be finished this week, weather depending. It was good to see the Isle of Wight Steam Railway announce details of their 50th Anniversary Gala in June, offering a flicker of hope on the horizon. Mrs C did her best to improve spirits yesterday arranging a 'cinema night' - pizza followed by my favourite, The Italian Job, which never gets old. Talk of curry this morning means a request will inevitably now be submitted for next week... A firm favourite (including Thai), though agree that heat shouldn't come at the expense of enjoyment! 2°C E 9kt, gusting 19kt Brighter this morning however showers are threatened from 16:00, if the Met Office is to be believed... The Big Garden Birdwatch will be completed after a walk though we'll be lucky to make double-figures if yesterday was anything to go by. We ordered a couple of Flutter Butter feeders last weekend but think they probably arrived too late to entice any visitors. For Mum's birthday yesterday Mrs C and I bought her a three course 'caddy' for dinner - "carefully prepared and oven-ready" - hopefully something a little different to break-up the monotony. It was the closest thing to being able to host (as we would have done normally) and came from a chef she enjoyed watching on Great British Menu so hopefully a winner! Roof repairs, first mentioned on here in November, are finally planned to commence tomorrow - any water damage in the intervening months hopefully only cosmetic. Scaffolders arrived Wednesday, achieving a 'full house' on the stereotype bingo card. As Fletcher (from Porridge) would say, "don't let the b*stards grind you down". Stay safe.
