  1. Its been said many times before but, regardless of whether they are in my era or not, I always find accurascale annoucements exciting and enjoyable purely because of the amount of enthusiasm and knowledge you guys have about your subject matter and about producing the best possible product you can and, above all, because you share that knowledge and enthusiasm with us. I have no idea about Mk2b’s generally but have found the run down of the where they ran and their detail differences very interesting and the samples look great to the untrained eye! Hope they are a great success (as they will no doubt be seeing everyones reactions!)
  2. I’d like to throw Lymington Town’s hat back in the ring as an option for a couple of reasons. The first two are ones that bécasse has already drawn attention to. The headcode the one for the Lymington Branch and the roof profile of the signal box does have the look of an LSWR Type 3b or 4, which is consistent with the signal box at Lymington Town. The line is single track with a slight curve towards the camera. If you look at the few photos of Lymington Town with the camera pointing towards Brockenhurst, the single line track does curve away to the left of the camera (westward?). Further those photos also show a very similar looking signal in exactly the same position, although I am looking at a photo from 1966 and the arrangement of the telegraph poles does seem to have changed in the interim. Lastly, to my knowledge, 30695 was a Bournemouth engine for the majority of its working life. Bournemouth 700’s were rostered for a 7:52am goods working to Brockenhurst each day (BM 417) which did return to Bournemouth again at 12:52pm, so maybe there was a run down to Lymington in the meantime? The shadows are quite long so this could be the rebuttal (too late in the day for it to be a Bournemouth 700) but thought it might be worth another look?
  3. Just to follow up on my prior posts, after taking the body off, the drive coupling was present and correct and the loco ran perfectly when re-tested (all down to my modelling guile and ability I’m sure!!!) Aside from the initial issue, I’d echo whats been said before, it’s a fantastic model and Kernow’s service was excellent as per usual. Feeling very fortunate as a Southern/BR(S) enthusiast with the high quality models that have arrived recently and with many still to come (next round of LN’s, D class, LSWR Road Van, Bulleid 64’ coaches, Maunsell RCO’s/thirds)
  4. Many thanks Graham and Ray, I’m in the process of taking the body off so will have a look and see if anything is out of place/missing
  5. Apologies all, I have what sounds like a very similar problem to what’s described above (buzzing, presumably of the flywheel, when power applied but no movement) but dont seem to have any parts loose in the box and am not the most technically proficient. Would anyone be able to post a photo of the drive coupling/what I should be looking for? I don’t want to return the loco when its something that I could handle easily myself!
  6. All versions showing as in stock on the Kernow website now, looking forward to receiving one soon!
  7. Hi all, A slightly odd request but I am after a spare box for a Hornby M7 class. The model in question is BR late crest No. 30031, which is a long frame variant fitted with pull-push apparatus. The original box was damaged not long after I got the model and I haven’t been able to put it back in since. None are available on ebay at the moment so any help would be much appreciated. Kind regards, Ryan
  8. Looking at the photo in the link below, taken around New Milton and dated 1961, I’m reasonably convinced that the brake van in this pick up goods is the model produced by Hornby, which would corroborate with John’s dates above https://www.flickr.com/photos/billsboy/6880299196/
  9. On the subject of the Maunsell dining cars coupled to Bulleid shortie sets, I believe the inner front cover shot of Ian Allan’s ‘Railways of Hampshire’ shows ‘Dulwich’ departing from Southampton Central in 1960 with a Lymington service coupled to set 974, which is followed by a Maunsell open third and dining car. I believe it’s more Maunsells that follow but I can’t say for certain!
  10. Received an email from Rails today stating the SR Brakes and BR composites are expected in the next week or two
  11. Hi all, I’m quite keen on picking a couple of these coaches up and searching for the usual, prototypical justifications. I’ve got limited knowledge of LMS coaching stock but to me the two coaches at the front of this formation look like corridor second Portholes. Would anyone be able to confirm this? https://flic.kr/p/7ptzb7
  12. Talking of which, it may not be the South Foreland version but it seems from Derek Hayward's photos of the Bluebell Model Railway Weekend had among them another image of a Beachy Head livery sample https://www.derekhayward.co.uk/BluebellRailway-1/Model-Railway-Events/Model-Railway-Weekend-2018/i-bZNLcmS/A Don't give up just yet!
  13. Afternoon all, A somewhat delayed thank you to you all, all of these suggestions have been very helpful. I hadn't realised that there was a small turntable just behind the goods sidings. Would anyone have an idea what this would have been used for? With regards to signalling, it appears to me that there were three down signals at the foot of platforms 3/4 (presumably for the main line, Lymington Branch and Castleman's Corkscrew) and a single up at the end of platform 1/2 (opposite end of the platform, but I think this requires a bit more research! Ryan
  14. Hi all, Would anyone be able help me locate a track plan of Brockenhurst station from the 50’s/60’s? I’ve managed to roughly sketch out a plan of the station and approach lines from the west from photos, including the position of the ground signals, but more information on the goods sidings would be useful. Ryan
  15. Thanks both, thought as much re the introduction of Bulleid stock, but always worth asking the question
  16. I'll have a look in my collection of books this evening and forgive me for the slightly naïve question, but did these vehicles ever see much of the Bournemouth/Weymouth mainlines in the BR days?

    Bachmann E4

Thank you both very much. I had found a photo or two of that particular engine on shed at Eastleigh in 1957, but by this time it had received a fresh coat of paint and lining (though still with the early emblem). It's quite hard to find photos of Eastleigh E4's out and about and I wonder how far they ventured into Hampshire/how far west they got in general. Nevertheless, I think even if the short goods workings weren't that adventurous, Rule One is always a reliable fall back!

Hi all, I'm doing some due diligence before I purchase 32556, but I'm struggling to find any evidence, photographic or otherwise, of the duties that the Eastleigh based E4's would have undertaken in the mid to late 50's. Would anyone be able to educate me if possible?
