  1. Has anyone got the latest model then? I'd love 1 but can't afford it.
  2. 4472 had a GN cab until 1928 when she was rebuilt to LNER gauge and gained her 1st corridor tender. The brass trim to the splashers was retained well into wartime when they were painted over or replaced. The pic is from Getty images of her at KX Top Shed in 1934 and shows the brass splashers. The others are of her in Exhibition condition.
  3. Its not just the beading that was brass.. the whole of the tops were brass too! paint at the ready!
  4. Hornby are right though. She was paired with a GN tender no. 5223 from new and prepared for Wembley between 27/12/23 - 2/3/24. "Prepared for display at British Empire Exhibition, Wembley including LNER crest on cabside, brass trim to splashers and burnished tyres." From then she was displayed with tender 5223 at the exhibition. From 23/3/25 - 19/4/25 she had a heavy repair at Doncaster, which was when the K3 tender no.5378 was attached to save space at the next part of the exhibition at Wembley. It was only after that when she returned to Doncaster for a light repair 16-28/11/25 and re-attached to tender no 5223. Between 14/2/28 - 5/4/28 she had a General repair at Doncaster and was paired with new corridor tender no. 5323 and the cabside numbers restored. She was then paired with corridor tenders until 20/10/36 after repair at Doncaster, when she gained GN tender no. 5290. She retained the brass beading to the splashers well into wartime. Her final tender was streamlined non-corridor no. 5640 which she kept until withdrawal in Jan'63. So anyone who wants to buy the new model will have to be liberal with silver or chrome paint.
  5. I picked up my Stepney today..Lovey little thing
  6. OR have released details of a new twin pack of TSO's. While I admit this is a good idea, the numbers are 12015 and 12030. Why couldn't they change the other 12015 to another number?? Seems like an own goal?
  7. Thanks JSpencer. I'll just have to run it on the B'cages only or 2 Maunsells unless its assisted by another loco. I don't really have the skill to be taking it to pieces for fear or doing something silly or breaking it.
  8. Ok so since running it in and now running trains I've encountered a couple of snags. 1) The front socket for the NEM coupling is very tight. Indeed it come with 1 NEM plug type and 1 of the crank type. neither of which will fit. 2) On running it with 3 Bachmann Birdcages it pulled them with no problem. However i ran it with 3 Hornby Maunsells (not coupled to the b'cages i might add) and it slipped to a stand, it really couldn't cope with them. So i had to tag a P class on the rear go give it some assistance. I can only assume the Maunsells are a bit heavier, but the P can pull them without any effort.
  9. I've had no problems with mine. Runs really smoothly and quietly.
  10. Mine has just arrived. Looks stunning. So far nothing missing. Although as stated the sleeve is very tight and that is creased. But thats the only quibble. Will run later
  11. Hroth .. ahh that makes sense now. I got me shunters mixed up lol Must've read too much into the statement. or caught up in the excitement the H is finally on its way
  12. Just as an aside, on the new Engine Shed blog, there is mention and pics of the freebie" model, the Network Rail 05. The pic shown is the actual finished model and this is what Hornby have said "Announced just over two months ago, these images show the model itself rather than the rendered images we had for the announcement". Does that mean they sending out them along with the H Class? Or separately as before?
  13. I've had email notification of dispatch and a txt from DPD saying Tuesday 11am for delivery. Happy Days
  14. Yeah they have them. They taken payment for mine and now "processing".
  15. That could be possible. When i joined up in Feb last year, I immediately pre-ordered the H at the same time. So they may well be emailing in pre-order order.
  16. Just had an email from Hornby to say the H's are near! At last!
  17. Absolutely well said sir!! Couldn't have put it better myself. Not a good way to treat Colletors Club members
  18. Ah fair enough drt7uk. To be honest now im getting fed up of waiting , but I guess another 2 weeks wont hurt lol Lets hope they are in the next delivery with the Stepneys!!
  19. The version shown is as she is now hence modern warning flashes and corridor tender. Hornby have done 60103 in weathered late BR condition with non corridor tender. The deflectors were added in early 1961 and removed on preservation in 1963 ,then again in preservation in 1993 -1995 and 2000 onwards (minus the time for lengthy overhaul)

    Tornado

Depends on how detailed you want it. The Hornby version though not highly detailed is a proper rendition of the real thing with roller bearing axle boxes of the cartazzi truck and tender. There has been a Br Green version (which i have and detailed it, the blue version and the railroad Apple green which is very basic and aimed at the younger modeller. The Bachmann mode is a high detail model but is basically a standard B'mann A1 but with the tender body adapted to suit the greater water capacity on the real thing. They are releasing a model of 60163 later this year in Green with early crest. Other version they have done are Br green with early crest, late crest (ltd ed), works grey (again ltd ed as she was when finished), Br Blue and apple green (as she is now but with unlipped chimney or she was on 1st stint on mainline) Hope this helps. I have attached a pic of my Tornado which i detailed myself and glossed
  21. Apparently they are on the ship. (according to Hornbys own forum) and due anytime soon. But don't quote me on it lol
  22. The grate lever went on the opposite side from the ejector pipe along the side of the boiler. As she was RND then the grate lever will be on the left hand side. Like wise LHD locos will see it on the right. See attached pics. The early pic shows her in 124 guise but clearly shows the lever underneath the cab.
  23. 1 A3 ( 60103 obviously) and 6 A4's ( all preserved examples) and 1 A1 and 1 A2. ( 60163 and 60532)
  24. Yes I know that but thats all (except the tender swap)
