  1. I received mine yesterday and was put to the test today. Excellent model, run in on the rollers and then load tested to 8 MK1's. It struggled a bit so I took 1 off and ran fine. I then added mt 5 GNR 4 wheelers to the back to add a teeny bit more weight though only minimal. Ran fine without any slip. BUT beware of the NEM pockets on the tender, make sure its fully pushed in. After a few laps of the layout, all of a sudden the loco broke free and before I could stop it, it ran into the back of the 4 wheelers, with the NEM still attached to the lead coach. Luckily there was no damage to loco or coach, but you have been warned. Or maybe i was just unlucky. RAIB have been informed
  2. Ok thanks, i'll get my order of the RBR then and keep the RFO and RU stored.
  3. Please forgive me if this has been talked about before, but I'm a little confused over rebuilds etc. I had every intention (indeed have 1 on order) of getting a blue & grey RBR, however I have a ( after looking on ebay) B'mann RU but the real thing is down in the 1981 pocket coaching book as an RBR.They look the same , so do I still need an RBR and an additional RK or will an RBR suffice? I also have an RFO ( thinking that the RU was a kitchen and go as a pair) I don't want to end up with an abundance of catering vehicles. Any advice gratefully received. Thanks.
  4. Got my 2 yesterday from Arcadia. Very impressed.
  5. $190 = £105 kerching
  6. Does anyone know when retailers are getting their allocation, as the Hornby website is going from selling to sold out and back to selling? Its getting silly.
  7. I got mine yesterday from Arcadia and Tim tested it in shop and i gave it a good run out today and i'm very impressed, no faults but the chains are very fiddley. I'm amazed at hoe small it is.
  8. Kernow have stated that the next batch (R3810) are due in the next 2 weeks.
  9. Tim at Arcadia has a collectors edition set and I think an N gauge version in stock. Worth a try.
  10. Hornby are now saying Summer 2020 for the next lot (R3810)
  11. My ScR Mk3's now have the Hunt Coupling magnetic couplings attached to them. Fantastic things, very close coupling and no buffer lock including the DBSO. They can be propelled easily but better to be pulled.
  12. So when is R3810 actually due? I've seen various dates between next week and April.
  13. Has anyone tried them with the new Hunt Magnet Couplings yet?
  14. Has anyone tried these on Oxford Rail Mk3's yet? If so how close do they get and which version would I need?
  15. Dunno what went wrong in that last post. Do they allow close coupling like those above and ok to be propelled?
  17. Does anyone have a pic of these couplings? So I know what to get. Cheers
  18. Thanks I got some 19's as a birthday present and attached theses to my Mk3's and DBSO; however being pushed there was buffer lock ( round 2nd rad) and being pulled they tended to uncouple and because of the slack 1 of the sockets came loose in its mounting so it sagged. So I ended uptaking them off and replacing the bar couplings that i had already put in.
  19. Forgive me if this has been mentioned before, To closely couple my Oxford Rail MK3's on 2nd rad curves without buffer locking, what size Kadees's would I need or would the continental hoop type coupling be ok? I'm currently using the bar type that Hornby use with their Maunsells. But the gap is still a big big. Ta
  20. HI, Has anyone ever won a competition in Hornby magazine and if so how do they tell you?
  21. Humbrol no 56 i think (off top of me head) aluminium metallic enamel. or 191 Chrome Silver Metallic enamel. All the valve gear was painted very lightly (and still needs touching up) and i need a thinner tipped brush. Need going over again in places.
  22. Here's my bulled up version i did yesterday. Still needs touching up here and there and yes there is a bit of over spill on the chrome in a coupe of areas. The brass splashers need going over again as its way to "copperey"
  23. Managed to pick last 1 up from Arcadia today (traded a few unwanted in). So will "bull" it up to exhibition condition. As the saying goes "watch this space"
