  1. Ok, noted! For those with the Sonic A5, I just fixed it without cutting and I should have done it first. If you take the loco pcb of it base before you fit the decoder, you can fit it, justly. Runs and sounds good (2P profile) but might need a condensator. Would be a first for my small fleet.
  2. The antenna. In both Loco types it's the antenna that sticks out. So I wondered if I could cut it of and fit at Angle or so, or put a small flecible antenna.
  3. Maybe a stupid question, but since the size of the next18 TXS is often a problem, for example in my LNER A5's and G5 because of the antenna, is repositioning or replacing a possibility?
  4. I'm waiting for the steamgenerator 2007, but my 2001 will not be replaced. It's lightly weathered and had a spare hook and screwlink from 2005 (nice from Hornby to give the option between screwlink fitted hook, or hook without). Only have to change the fake coal, and the TTS decoder by a TXS.
  5. Maybe a Railroad PoW when the 1:1 is finished. Like they did with Tornado
  6. If you look at a previous Engine Shed, you'll see a first test model with single doors. Forgot which month.
  7. I have mine already, but it seems the first badge sold out, so they did a second, according to an answer I saw on Instagram. They should arrive in september. But best send an email to Hornby.
  8. Sam from Sam's Trains' just did a video about where Hornby went wrong. I have no interest in steampunk, and watch his reviews only for the great close ups, so didn't watch this one. https://youtu.be/TmuFLtV9mIo
  9. I think you are mixing 2003 and 2005. Here is my 2003. Or do you mean something else?
  10. I'm just under 2m, one of my best friends is 1,60. We would make quite the footplate team.
  11. Well, we'll have to wait, won't we? There'll be enough 'aha's' and 'why so and not so' in due time!
  12. Nothing on 2005, very, very little on 2003, and I only saw that after looking for it because you asked. On the short straight I have out, and running light, I couldn't see it.
  13. Concerning the missing guard irons, Hornby replied the same day, but I didn't see it. But they are aware of the problem, and have contacted the supplier, to produce extra. When they arrive, they will be send out. They asked for my adress, so I suggest anybody in the same situation to contact them.
  14. So, I had a closer look at the new couplings. 4 contacts on top, 4 at the bottom. This means that the decoder can be used in the tender. How they'll do it with the lit headcodes is another thing. - 2 in from the pickups - 2 out for the motor - 2 out for steam - 2 out for lights And the firebox without control. Just speculation, we'll see nu the end of the year/begin 2024 when PoW and FS apear.
  15. Why wouldn't the decoder be in the Loco, and the speaker in the tender? Would work with the new connector. PoW is also later, but the non steam/sound/light version is available now. If not sold out already at some places!
  16. Still, a lost opportunity I think. If they can make all the others, even EM in both configurations, this should also be possible. Of course, I have absolutely no idea about the cost and the return on that. I would have bought WoB, and I don't think I'm the only one. I agree about most people not being any wiser. My father, working his whole life with trains, been on most of the UK's heritage lines and has an attic, basement and garden full of models, thought that my rebuild Hush-hush was an A4.
  17. I asked about the irons, no answer yet, but will share it when I get it. I wanted to ask about the 'windmill' too, but forgot. I'd like to know if the smoke generator can be retrofitted to the streamliners.
  18. Another way to improve it, I used thé second of the very fine hook & scewlink from ToF on CotN's front instead of the ugly plastic one. Still have to paint my cab. And if they become avaible, I might get a flanged wheelset for the cartazzi. Although, they block in the new ones....
  19. It seems so, coming in september was the latest. The first batch was sold out rather quickly.
  20. Well, they do have a new partnership with the East Kent and Sussex Railway according to the latest Signal Box, so everything goes!
  21. There is a difference, but not enough (yet) to consider buying a 2001 if one comes out in the new tooling. The new ones are finer overall, with more separate details, spring buffers and better overall colour (color?) and lettering. But I still very much like my CotN, and being a gift from my late godmother, I might be a little biased. For me the biggest problem is/was the fixed coal load.
  22. Answer from H to S on YT, when talking about the plastic running plate:
  23. Taken with a rather old phone, in not the best of lights, but you can get the idea. In real life, you have to look for it to see it.
  24. On Sam's Trains' review he briefly showed something interesting on one of the driving axles there seems to be a device to sync sound and/or smoke. Someone got theirs open yet?
  25. I'd suggest you try to see one or both streamliners in the flesh, it might help you of the fence, possible on the 'yeay' side. Mine just arrived here in Belgium, and they are flawless. The ridge is almost not visible, and it fits perfectly on both. For those into HM7000 TXS, this is the fastest ever sound decoder installation. By far. If @Jenny Emilyneeds an idea for a short YT-video, highly recommended! Unplug the tender, take the three screws out and open it, remove the cover Paper from the TXS-speaker, place it on the pre-installed speakerbox, plug in the decoder, connect the speaker, close up and connect the tender, and go! Typing this took me twice as long. And if you are an idiot like me, and bought two locos and only one decoder, swapping the tenders is a five second job.
