  1. Anybody some idea about the timing for the 'correct size' Next18? I have an A5 and a G5 waiting. Or will the non-sound version fit?
  2. It seems it's never too early. Or too late, for that matter.
  3. I got the inspiration from LNER Thompson A2/1 507, which might have taken the place of a fictive 2007.
  4. I hope not, so I don't have to take these of (Rule 1 for me, Gresley made 7. Will be named Highland Chieftain of course)
  5. When I go in a shop for a new shirt, my wife always comes with An extra, or two, a matching sweater and a couple of pants. In a modelshop, it's the opposite: you already have one (or more) like that, what about the ones at home..... 🙃
  6. The only problem so far for me: it is not idiot proof. If your Bluetooth of your phone is of, it doesn't tell you and let you find it out yourself. 😄
  7. 2 51L kits ordered. Will pick them up (with some other orders) later this week. Cheaper to make a short trip to Albion once in a while than paying all these VAT, import, handling etc costs. One is a £12 Pig iron wagon. Ideal to start. In the mean time, already saw some YT, and got down the amazing rabbit hole of West End. Your link worked as intended. 👌
  8. Also this summer, as is R30130 (2005). The Steam generator fitted PoW is for the autumn. Quite an expensive summer for me. https://uk.Hornby.com/products/lner-p2-class-2-8-2-2003-lord-president-era-3-r3985
  9. Thanks for the tips! I'll have some reading (and learning) ahead of me! Would a Comet Pigeon van be a good starter for a solder novice like me (apart from elec. wiring)? Or are there other LNER models that are better suited to learn the ropes?
  10. Thanks Chas, It's actually my third Isinglass coach, I made a pigeon van and a GNR Howlden 45' Clerestory Luggage brake van. Both a bit too dark painted for my liking, so I changed the basecoat from black to light grey, but good testbeds for working with 3D kits, imitating teak, and lining coaches (for that I went back to enamel for the first time in a decade, and a big thank you to Mike Trice for the YT videos!!).
  11. Both the FS and Black 5 are still on the website. Both are also still available to pre-order, the P2 isn't. I think that's the reason. The steam version of PoW is for Autumn 2023, the regular for Summer 2023. Some P2 2007 parts in production in today's TheEngine Shed: https://uk.Hornby.com/catalogue/collections/steamgenerator?langPath=Hornby-uk&filters[mandatory_filter_by][product_collection_iii]=Steam Generator&page_id=116983&sort_by=8&page=1
  12. So, in two posts we go from 'we beter wait till they arrive' to 'the AS Manor will be nr1'... 😄 Anyway, the new Engine Shed can shed some light about what's comming (pun intended): https://uk.Hornby.com/community/blog-and-news/engine-shed/all-aboard-br-standard-class-2mt-loco
  13. The best thing is having it right from the first time. The second best is learning from your mistakes, listen to customers/users and improve the product accordingly.
  14. Example of an almost finished Isinglass Dia165. I quite like these 3D kits.
  15. Well, it's a nice change from trashing models before they hit the shops. 😉
  16. I just installed HM DCC on my old Nokia 5.3, without reading any manual (I die print it out for worst case!) I could update and install the class 73 profile, first try, not a single use, in my...... NER Autocar. That was the easiest 21-pin to get into. Quit impressed by the userfriendly app, self explaining, no problems at all. And what a leap in sound quality from TTS! Anybody knows if a 2P sounds a bit like a GCR D11/1? And when can we start wishlisting sound profiles? (Sorry Andy 😇)
  17. I changed over to acrylics about ten years ago, mostly for ease of use when airbrushing. Yesterday I used a (very large tin) of Humbrol 69, my first enamel in a decade, was in my father's basement for over 40 years, unopened. After a very good stir, and a little bit of Humbrol Thinner, it works perfect in my bowpen for lining teak coaches. That's quality! Can't comment on the state of new Humbrol Enamels, but their acrylics are good. Not the best maybe, but almost there.
  18. Question, a bit OT: why is it DCC ready (6 pin socket)? For the inbuilt camera to spy on SK?
  19. Nope, it's not. A W1. Details, details, details!!
  20. Someone in Margate must have read a books about LNER being right hand drive. Just didn't check the year...
  21. Out of interest, and to improve my teak painting skills, I bought a couple of second hand Gresley 61'6 coaches. They came with wheels, and turned brass buffers. It also mentioned these in the instruction, telling that the top should be clipped by the modeller. No idea how old the sets are. I payed £15 at Hattons.
  22. I can't find it in either £ or €.
  23. I don't have any at hand, so no pictures. There are four small clips holding it together, they are located on the undersides, you will have to turn the bogies a little to see them. You can unclip them with a small screwdriver or something similar. I did one side first, so I could place some evergreen leftover between the body and the underframe, to keep the clips from fixing again. After the other side is loose as well, they open quite easy. If you can do it without breaking of one of the steps, you're handier than I am. I can take some pictures over the weekend if it's needed.
  24. Do the Kirk 2.0 also come with turned brass buffers and bearings, and wheels?
  25. Well, I'm cured for the moment, my addiction for Garther blue/Black/Silver is (temporarely) over. Don't mention my revamped love for A1's.... My A4's started with a wartime black Sir M. Wilson, weathered by Rails (for £100). Then came Sir Nigel Gresley himself, in the Hornby Centenary set. Followed by Mallard and Dominion of Canada, both Great Goodbye locos, for about £130 each, new from a Dutch shop. Got another set (Queen of Scots I think) with Garganey. After all this blue, I got Silver Link, it runs, but blew a couple of decoders, so on non-active fot the time being. My latest Garther blue machine is Kingfisher, thanks to Dominion of this parish for the heads up, also in a nice set. 10000 is there as well, not sure wich name it'll get. I do have Commonwealth of Australia on pre-order, I'll need a spare loco for when the Coronation gets here.
