  1. No I do not believe they were aware of the Hattons one, I have emailed and informed them. Best wishes Simon
  2. Hi guys, after a lot of interest and requests the '3DR' team behind the very impressive N gauge model of the RHTT set have accepted the challenge to develop a OO scale set. More information to follow when available but for those interested, here is the thread on NGF for the smaller version. http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?topic=9638.0 Best wishes Simon
  3. very well deserved 'best in show' even though you beat me by one point hehe. Really enjoyed seeing this stunning model and chatting briefly during a short escape from my layout. Best wishes Simon
  4. Hornby buildings are made from some form of resin, easy to cut but liable to crack etc if mishandled etc. Best wishes Simon
  5. Totally agree, this is what I had to do to the Cortina. Looks much better with touched up paint on the wheels, trimmed down behind the wheels and remounted onto the axles closer in as well as a coat of mat varnish. Best wishes Simon
  6. just had a look at Ebay - 'fairy garden miniatures' lots of ideas. Best wishes Simon
  7. our local garden centre has a range of large scale figures and accessories designed for fairy gardens, this range includes a santa at the mo. Best wishes Simon
  8. I have just bought and painted one of these myself as well as one of their traction engines, very neat prints - pleasure to work with aren't they! Best wishes Simon
  9. looking good although I preferred the higher backscene to the lower one. Watching your thread with interest. Very neat ballasting! Best wishes simon
  10. Thanks, the guy who made it was delighted, it is pride of place in his room. Best wishes Simon
  11. Thank goodness I mentioned it then, check out the piccies of the saddle tank on this thread here - https://www.lner.info/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2737 Best wishes Simon
  12. Just on case you had not heard, be warey with lead weights - do not glue with PVA as it reacts with the PVA and expands. I have seen O scale locomotives ruined as the weights push the models apart. Best wishes Simon
  13. my own thread and I l=missed those additions, apologies Richard, they are great!!! An evening of wheel cleaning and layout fettling ahead before packing up in the morning for trek over to Woking for the REC show 2017 - http://www.rec-farnborough.org.uk/exhibition.html Looking forward to another weekend playing trains, maybe see some of you there! Best wishes simon
  14. that sort of radius will be fine, 6 coupled chassis will go around much tighter curves than that but will look OTT in my opinion. Will be watching this thread with interest. Best wishes Simon
  15. Love the punch and judy in the middle! Best wishes Simon
  16. As well as the later front grill and a more modern design style for me. Love the layout, one of the few larger scale threads I follow as an N gauge modeller. Best wishes Simon
  17. Ok now I am confused, those piccies were the right way around on my machine but not when posted... What? Simon
  18. Update time, a lot has been going on around here, much more because of the help from a few people I want to publicly thank - Seb and Ellen (son and wifey), my mate Jon who has helped with the foundations and will be doing the felting with us as well as Russ who helped soo much and massively appreciated!! Ok, the story to date - With Jon's help, well actually Jons work with our help, we got the foundations built, strong and level! The next step was to start the construction with a wooden frame and then building up the outer walls Then adding the roof supports At this point, we added the underfloor insulation followed by the floor boards and then we could start the inner walls including the wall insulation as we went, well that was the plan until we realised that in my enthusiasm and due to very confusing instructions, we shouldn't have added the roof supports before the inner walls! Oops followed by naughty works and a partial deconstruction followed! Anyway, we got back on track and rebuilt correctly including the windows and the wall insluation Yep, that is Russell peering over the top during the trimming of the insulation sheeting. 'Wot no Trains?!' Seb hiding away to get a break, cheeky geezer Up to date - we have the glazing and the roof felt to go to complete the log cabin. oh yeah and then to sort out the rest of the garden - building site! I have to admit that I am really enjoying this project despite being incredibly daunted at first. My mum was nagging to try and get someone in to build it for us but we have the pride that we can look at it, stand proud and say 'WE BUILT THAT!!!' I have some mega plans for the interior for the next few months including an interior wall to separate the machine shiop from the trains and a couple of mega model railways to build - more on that another time. Best wishes Simon
  19. Hi guys, well I hope this is the right place to put this thread. I have now taken delivery of my new Engine Shed, Train room, storage unit or what ever else it is going to get called eventually. Looks like just a pile of stuff but this will become a 5 metre by 4 metre log cabin, my new man cave. I will add piccies as the project develops as well as info about what will be going inside, obviously my 2 layouts Hobbiton End and Polpendra will go in there but I have plans for another project or 2 for the near future as well. Ayway, tis too hot for much more work out there today, tis around 34 degrees here and not dropping! best wishes Simon
  20. 150800 tons, that is a big piece of kit!! Simon
  21. same joiners used for both std and fine track in N, sometimes I find you need to file the inside edges of the rail a little to ensure the joiners slip on then push on with needle nosed pliers. Best wishes Simon
  22. I also picked up the Heller model of the Golden Hinde today for another project I'm working on. The box says its 1:200 scale, and I figured I it was sat at the back of a layout, it wouldn't look too far out of scale. However after checking the mouldings I figure it's close to 1:96 scale. Way too big for 'N' gauge... That is bloomin annoying, would have looked great on a model railway! Best wishes Simon
  23. other options could include starting with kits like the faller cinema - http://www.gaugemaster.com/item_details.asp?code=FA232264 I do think it is a great idea though, just noticed your era, the art deco one that Kingsway do sounds ideal to me. Please keep us informed with piccies etc though. best wishes Simon
  24. Could any of these give you a starting point? http://www.kingswaymodels.com/page33.htm best wishes Simon
