  1. A blue 31/4 with central or offset headlight or no headlight at all would sell extremely well. It’s a mystery how one hasn’t been produced. They have the tooling for the headlight versions. Its a no brainier. Just like the Br Blue class 56’s. 3 have been produced in the super detailed incarnation. 013, 082 and 083. All sell for big money on that internet auction site. A Br Blue large logo super detailed 56 is even rarer. Only 56084 has been produced. This also goes for good money. Was hoping for one of these to go with the soon to arrive Accurascale Cawood PFA’s. A classic combination! All the above are open goals for Hornby. They can’t miss. But for years now, unbelievably they have. 66738
  2. Wow. Exciting announcement from Hornby. Happy for my mate that the APT is coming. He lost money on the DJM one. Like the Dutch 31. As already mentioned, disappointed there is yet again no Blue 31/4 or Railfreight non red stripe 31, or Intercity Mainline 31/4. Love the HST Intercity DVT’s. Would have loved them both or even one of the two to be Intercity Executive, to make a proper early East Coast mk3 + 91 combination. The Floyd 56? Just how many are going to go for one of those, where Br Blue or Br Blue Large Logo would sell by the boat load. And some more HAA’s is nice to see. Overall pretty good. 66738
  3. I’m sure that if they had something to share with us, they would. These guys are very open with updates and product information. We will see evidence of progress when progress has been made. Until then, relax and look forward to what I’m sure will be a superb model. 66738
  4. When in reality, most passengers really don’t care what train gets them to/from work. They just want it to run on time and have a seat. It’s politics that has seen the pacers be stood down, while services are short formed all over the place, with passengers rammed on a two car like sardines. 66738
  5. The £375k cost to turn 144012 PRM compliant was because it was the one and only. If the entire 23 fleet had been done, costs would have been reduced dramatically. Seats didn’t have to get changed for the ironing board ones. Lights didn’t have to get changed to LED spot lights. Overhead Luggage racks did not have to get stripped out. Lift up disabled ramp built into step well never worked (finger trap danger) so could have been done away with. Toilet SOS button could have done with flap to cover it as toilet users press it thinking it opens the door despite the SOS sign. Most annoying announcements continue until it can be cancelled. If they had just done the PRM toilet, information screens + cab destination screen Trains FX system, costs would have been a lot more reasonable. They did an amazing job with 144012. If their was the political will, they could have had the refurb and continued for years to come. They are my favourite unit to drive. Good visibility. Good heaters. Simple and straightforward to rectify faults. 144012 was sat in platform 7 at Leeds this morning. 66738
  6. Got the TSO and the FK on preorder. No idea when they are due. Will go nice with Kernow’s Blue and Grey Scotrail double TSO pack. 66738
  7. 42 wagons, 38 wagons, 27 and 26 wagon lengths. You’re going to have to produce some more running numbers lads! Really looking forward to these. 66738
  8. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F303271277241 On eBay. I bought one the other day. Can’t wait to put it in a 25 worthy of it. 66738
  9. I think these may come along with the as new Metrotrain 144’s. I and many more are patiently waiting for these! At the moment Realtrack don’t have the original bus seat interior. This will come along once the 142 project gets going. 66738
  10. Excellent news that something may be done to remedy the situation. It should never have got to this though. Hornby knows only too well that factory errors have occurred time and time again. Why QC hasn’t been tightened up as a result of past mistakes is a mystery to me. Two pre orders that spring to mind that I cancelled over the last few years were HAA’s that should have been full fat yellow frame coal sectors being delivered as railroad. And Blue and Grey Mk 2D TSO delivered with a FO body. Both ridiculous. Investigations into how past errors have happened and answers of how they could be prevented should have been put in place. But mistakes still occur. Like has been said previously, it’s time someone that knows what they are doing are put in place to over see QC. 66738
  11. I am fully aware of the bigger issues in the world. My model railway hobby is my escape from the daily grind and horrors of real life. And I suspect I’m not alone on that. I (we) pay good money (pre orders) and expect models to be right. What’s the point of our hobby if we run a substandard model (not toy) that doesn’t satisfy us? What’s the point if an item doesn’t make us happy? Why would we not be disappointed when a model that we have been looking forward to doesn’t meet our expectations? Their are some of us who take this hobby extremely seriously, and we are only fully satisfied if everything is just right. And you know what, that is fine. I really appreciate layouts that go to huge lengths to make things as spot on as they can. There are also people who are not quite as bothered about things being as close to perfect as possible. They accept inaccuracies. That is also fine. It’s our own layouts. It’s each to their own. This is a forum. A forum allows two pages of shock and horror if that is the way the particular thread is going. Input may be favourable towards a subject and sometimes may be hostile towards a subject. Sadly this conversation is hostile to 60015 and concern for Hornby (whom are not very financially sound) getting things wrong, and us, the consumer not making them purchases. Hornby really don’t need these situations like we don’t need a hole in the cranium cavity. We are ‘getting over it’ through discussion. 66738
  12. Yes, that one has past me by I’m afraid. 66738
  13. Ok. Thanks for that. I’m happy that the general consensus is that 60062 colours seem right but disappointed that the logo is slightly wrong. What’s up with their modern D+E section? Why is the attention to detail missing so often? I don’t pay too much attention to Hornby steam locomotives (only own a Hornby Black 5 which I admit is lovely), so can’t say for certain but I’d take a guess that they would not let as many kettles go out with livery issues. 66738
  14. Another sale lost here. Was looking forward to it, but it just looks too wrong. But, luckily today I just happen to have come across a R2747 60062 Samuel Johnson in Petroleum for £89.99, so snapped that up extremely quickly before it was spotted by someone else. To my eye it looks very good. Could anyone confirm if Hornby got that one correct? cheers 66738
  15. I have a Ruston 37 with Biffo sound. It’s one of my favourites. Something that looks a bit different when looking down on it and sounds very different from the standard 37. I’d probably purchase one of both examples, but I would understand if Accurascale gave the Ruston a wide berth and would be extremely understanding if they avoided a Mirrlees example with the heavily modified roof. 66738
  16. Again a fair point well made. I agree Hornby have pulled their socks up recently and indeed Bachmann are catching up with their projects. I did say it’s long been my mind, (back from when Bachmann and admittedly Hornby to a lesser degree were announcing projects that were not to see the light of day for many a year), but you are right to point out that that was then and this is now and to praise them on what they have dished up for our delight in recent times. I’m sorry for the offence I have caused. 66738
  17. The other way round mate. They are supplied glass dominos but you would happily imagine they are plated metal dominos. I get what you are saying, and I can accept small discrepancies like that no problem, but for me it would be a purchase that I don’t really need. (Need every penny I can for next year. Tulyar and 3 class 45’s arriving.) And if it wasn’t pretty damn near spot on for my era layout, I might as well wait for one that is. There’s no rush. But yeah I understand what you are saying. It’s your own layout and rule #1 applies. If you’re happy with it, nothing else matters. 66738
  18. Ah, yes Glass dominos. Saw Frans domino’s in pack and didn’t think there was indeed black glass dominos and plated metal dominos. Shame. Not for me then after all. Never mind. 66738
  19. Dominos in the pack? Hmmm. Could be for me after all. Found an image of it as late as August 1987. Went into works sometime in Autumn ‘87 before coming out as 37707 in early December ‘87. My layout is late 1986/early 1987, so it fits. Of note, it gained orange cant stripe sometime between September 1986 and March ‘87. No big deal. Easy to sort. 66738
  20. Yeah fair point. Damned if they do, damned if they don’t. 66738
  21. Well yes indeed. It’s long been my mind to think for Bachmann and Hornby to scale back their upcoming projects and just concentrate on the back logs. And then when reasonably caught up, only announce a new project when it is a decent way along the road. (Accurascale and Cavalex are good examples of putting in a lot of the groundwork before going public.) Waiting 3,4 or even 5+ years for a model is frustrating. I know they have to lay down their marker. ‘We are planning on producing X model’ to (sometimes) stop others from doing the same thing. But it can feel like waiting for tomorrow to come. (It never does). 66738
  22. It’s always nice to see an exciting announcement but perhaps they already have enough projects on the go and would be better if they just concentrated on the 25, 45, 47 and 86 (there will be more but that’s all I could think of at the moment) for the time being. Surely that’s enough to be getting on with. 66738
  23. Is it me or does the dark grey look too dark? From memory they have previously done this with a class 56 I think? 66738
