  1. Interesting photos Paul. I always thought that the Standard Wagon Co at Heywood just made new wagons but it looks like some sort of refurbishment or maintenance of them from them pictures. What sort of work would they carry out? 66738
  2. Fair bit of weight on that for a 47! Thanks for directing me to that vid. Useful. 66738
  3. I think after the 142 has been done (and the as new 143/144,) they might as well finish the lot off with the 141. Would love one. 3 different liveries to go at, and 2 front ends. Loved the look of the original West Yorkshire PTE Metrotrain Green/creamy white, but the front looked a lot cleaner/uncluttered after refurbishment with BSI coupler and the dodgy cable brakes binned in favour of conventional brakes. 66738
  4. Good grief! Are you and that other new comer trying to make me bankrupt? Or at the very least divorced! I’m working rest days left right and centre and I’m still going to struggle to afford the massive amount of lovely stuff that are coming in the near future. I’m not going to have any free time to model at this rate. :-/ 66738

    New tts 08

This is what comes in the TTS fitted 08. Think it could be similar. 66738
  6. Hi bren . It’s already been discussed on the Dapol thread. Yes it’s an upside down W. It’s ridiculous. But what has this to do with Rails of Sheffield? It’s not an exclusive model of theirs, it’s a general release model. This should be on the Dapol thread, not here. It implies that this error is some how Rails fault, when it’s not. They are just selling the item. It seems unfair. 66738
  7. What on earth is that M or upside down W about? Ridiculous. I’d be really annoyed if I’d had the initial disappointment that original images showed it having a W prefix, then happy that further images shows it having a M, then shock horror, it’s neither a M or a W. I’ll be in the market for a 122 if they do either 55005 (with 121 exhausts) or 55006 in blue and grey from their days on Stalybridge - Stockport shuttles in 1985/86. Here’s hoping. 66738
  8. Used a Scalpel to shave them off. Just had to touch up with a bit of WPY.
  9. Got fed up waiting for a banger blue 47 for mid to late 80’s, so decided to crack on using 001 to create 004 ‘Monster’ (well it will be once re numbered and wee westie applied). Windscreen surrounds de-riveted, buffer beam red and replica headlight added. Right hand marker LED bend downward, into lightning channel with fibre optics through to Headlight. Left hand marker bent across to the right, so now central to illuminate marker lenses. #1 end markers taken out and flattened as they protruded out the front in a slightly bulbous way. Black rings left to create opaque discs. #2 end markers flattened slightly less to still retain flip up glass lens look. Black surrounds now yellow. Ploughs fitted as per 004 in the 80’s.
  10. We’ve probably been looking at the same 1993 picture. No depot plaques in the photo I saw, but it did look absolutely pristine so they may not have been attached yet. 66738
  11. Often been tempted by them when Flangeway did them first time round.Anyone got dates when the pair were in this livery? There is not much to go on looking in the usual places. 66738
  12. Thanks for the clarification mate.66738
  13. Hi Craig1989. Can you confirm what tmc said as your post is a little confusing. I suspect it’s a typo and you meant to say that tmc said that they only had a few left? If they didn’t only have a few (but quite a lot) available it would be good news for some out there.66738

    Class 142

I can categorically say Yes, they are very much still in business. I mailed Charlie Saturday evening about if Realtrack has spares of cosmetic shock absorbers, as over time a few have gone missing on my 144. First thing Sunday morning Charlie Emailed back saying yes they had spares and gave me instructions on what to do next regarding postage payments. Extremely prompt response and very helpful. 66738
  15. Totally agree on all of these and I’ll add the 87 and 153 to the list also. Not sure about kettles but my Black 5 is a beauty and no doubt other Steam engines will be just as good if not better. An extremely unfair comment battered away easily there!66738
  16. Ooo err, unless the Hattons allocation are going to be spread about to other model shops, I fear that folk will struggle to pre order one now. Would not surprise me if they were all spoken for sadly. It would be terribly sad if people were to miss out through no fault of their own. After all, they ordered from a very well respected and reputable company. Who could have forseen these problems arising?66738
  17. The 7th June 1991 picture is interesting. Working a passenger service or on the rear of one. Wonder if it was to just to add some ooomph after a power car had failed? Looks like T416 was a hybrid set of 115, 127, 127, 116.66738

    OO gauge Turbot

Should it read “as the guard was NOT allowed to travel in the cab of a single 20 apparently”?Would make sense as the 20 had the driver, probably 2nd man as well, so it would already be quite full in there. 66738
  19. I’ve always told my girls, “if your chosen path of what you want to do doesn’t work out, the railway, especially driver grade would give you a good life. After all, your old man’s not done too bad for us all has he?” But a lately I’ve been having second thoughts. To be honest ‘the job for life if you keep your nose clean’ might not apply for young ‘uns these days. Driverless trains could easily happen in their working life. I am truly blessed doing the job I love, but it’s not like it used to be. Anyway back on topic, these Mk3’s have the potential to be very good. Too modern for me but full marks to Hornby for having a crack st them. Hope they can back date them to give us the ultimate MK3 that we all crave. 66738
  20. I second Terrier79 in Bachmann should be informed of the detail error and change number to suit. 66738
  21. Excellent photos showing the differences Trains4U. Have been hoping over the years you or someone else would commission the 150/2 in Original provincial. I realise the gangway door would not be prototypical but have been hoping that one day it would come. 66738
  22. Right, after comparing photos, I see what you mean now. Its the body work under the front step well (under the wipacs). I’ve never noticed that before. Every day is a school day. So my Trains 4U 150135 is correct but 150115 would not be? If 150115 did get released with this error, It doesn’t look like it would be a lot of work to put back the body work to make it correct but obviously we’d like it to be right in the first place. Thank you for drawing this to my attention. 66738
