  1. I agree that no one has done the definitive 1st generation DMU yet. The gear change issue as you say is not ideal but I'm not sure if anyone has captured that Leyland engine sound perfectly yet either. Then, It wasn't until watching Train Simulator on YouTube that I realised a key sound that these DMUs have is the change of engine note when you change from neutral to 1st gear, just before it pulls away. No one has replicated this yet (as far as I'm aware). Listen out for it at 28 seconds in. I know the sound quality of TS is far greater than what a chip and even the best speaker could achieve, so put that to one side. It's the characteristics of the DMU I'd like Legoman/Howes/SWD or even Hornby to concentrate a little harder on. A little later on in the video, at 1 minute 33 sec listen out for the rasp of the 121 exhaust. Would love that feature to be looked into as well. https://youtu.be/n1waPA4VTIc 66738
  2. Many thanks to you all for your helpful replies. Sorry Mark for not supplying a link. I'm new to the forum and was'nt sure if I was ok to give a link to said video. Thought I'd given enough information for you all to find the film. I'll know for the future. Cheers 66738
  3. I wonder how many gambled that the OR MK3 would be head and shoulders above the Hornby/Lima version, and sold them?
  4. Hi guys. I was recently watching an excellent video on YouTube titled Collyhurst Street Signal Box (51:48 duration). It was filmed in the early 1990's, from the Signal box itself. At 17 minutes into the film, 47453 climbs Miles Platting Bank with an engineers train consisting of BDA's sandwiching small flat 4 wheel wagons, in place for track panels to overhang. What are these small wagons and have they ever been produced in model either kit or RTR? Many thanks in anticipation. 66738
  5. When I spoke to the bloke on the OR stand at Glasgow, he was adamant that their colours were correct and we were wrong. Got the impression that OR would not be backing down on this issue. The blue and grey ones on display looked spot on to my eye though.
  6. The only preserved locomotive I can think of that has LED Tail/Marker in the same housing is 25059 at Keighley & Worth Valley Railway.
  7. Would love 31/4 in blue. 31 in Railfreight minus the red stripe and 31/4 in Mainline (Intercity).I thought up to these Limited Editons, Hornby had totally given up on the Super Detail 31, but now I have renewed hope that one or more of the above three could be produced by Kernow in another batch of Limited Editions or maybe even on general release.
  8. Olivia's were doing them for about £40 not long ago.
