  1. Pics of the H0 scale Fiat 850. Very faded and the wheels are shot with glue but an interesting little thing. Probably a wagon load for a continental manufacturer of some kind?
  2. That’s true (the re-importing at least)! I saw a ship leave Teignmouth harbour with an unofficial Lada cargo on top of the containers! Top Gear also did a feature where they all bought one and drove to Hull and had a competition to see who could make the highest profit.
  3. Hi. I’ll take a better picture of it tomorrow. All the cars have glue on the wheels so they’ve been on a transporter or similar which has detracted from their value. I am unsure about the Fiat now. I’m not a collector I’m a modeller but I’m loathe to “ruin” a rarity. The wheels are shot anyway so replacing them wouldn’t make any difference. I may do a light improvement like I did with the Lima Fiat 131 a few pages back. Trouble is it would look rather good beige with rust spots on the sills and arches!
  4. Arrived and yes it’s a Rivarossi Fiat 124. Looks closer to 1/72 than 1/76 and an odd scale for a H0 scale manufacturer. A coat of beige or similar and some better wheels and it’s a Lada to all intents and purposes on my layout! Assuming not sacrilege to modify a scarce car! The VW is a Wiking model at 1/87.. The interesting one is the Fiat 850 in a very faded orange. Never seen one before. Very much 1/87 as it looks tiny!
  5. Yes they’re actually a range of around H0/00 just listed as H0. It’s the minix viva at 1/76 I used to gauge the size of what appears to be the Fiat 124. Had no idea there was such a model and if it’s a 124 it’s as good as identical to the early Lada anyway so it will eventually receive a repaint and improvement the same as fodenway’s.
  6. Just bought a job lot of run of the mill H0 scale cars for a what seems high 17.54 plus postage. Next to the minixHA Viva is what looks like one of those already impossible to find 1/72 resin Lada Rivas from I think Hungary. These were £30 when available so I’ve taken a punt. I can always relist and cut my losses if not…
  7. I’d have said full return for full refund or nothing. I simply don’t do part refunds unless it’s a regular buyer as it’s open to abuse.
  8. Hornby Dublo locomotives still look great today and that old girl really looks the part there even on a modern layout. They have a realism that belies their lack of detail that I think is in part due to their “metalness” giving them a presence that the contemporary triang offerings and later Lima and Hornby didn’t possess. I think it wasn’t until the 1990s that they really were surpassed.
  9. Spot on. Big lot of (say) GWR stock and locos would possibly sell at a high price as the buyer would want all the items and the convenience and postage saving is the selling point. Random assortment of items and a dealer will take the lot at a low to medium price. One or the other works but not both in tandem.

  11. The D600s were to be 41 and were allocated it hence the gap in the eventual roster of locomotives but they were withdrawn at the last minute at the end of 1967. I actually refer to them as 41s but I’m not opening that can of worms! Incidentally weren’t they type 4 too? Not type three. Hence the allocation of 41 and not (say) 38 or 39.
  12. I’d heard that too. What was the timescale for developing TOPS? I have this image of some folks in an office with a list of locomotives and the numbers 1-99 written in the margin of some lined paper! If it was pre-1967 then yes the LMS twin (s) would have been factored in.
  13. I think the Brush Type 2s were still type two after increasing power from class 30 to 31. 1470hp is still type 2 I think. Imagine how pedestrian they would have been with only 1250hp!

I have to be honest that during uneventful and repetitive lockdown walks I enjoyed scavenging for useful modelling materials such as lichens etc and I amassed a nice collection of car wheel weights and the like including a couple of those bike tyre weights! But they went on the inside of my rolling stock!
  15. That is exactly right. The vendor won’t even have visibility of that amount never mind set it.
  16. The price for those teak coaches is eye watering but I actually don’t think the paint job is all that bad for what it is. A fiver each at a model shop and plenty of folk would snap them up.
  17. Yes. I see they also did the same as me and fitted catenary but left out the wires as they were too fiddly! Sommerfeldt by the looks of it. The set of footprints in the foreground made with the end of a toothpick are a brilliant touch. I wish they’d spent money on a nice Wiking vehicle though rather than one of those bulk buy Chinese affairs as it doesn’t look very realistic or like any actual prototype!

  20. Hi all. I have an unliveried black plastic Hymek body which I have just noticed has a moulded integrally cab window surround whereas every other Hymek I have ever had has been fitted with removeable window inserts which I suspect was to make it easier in manufacturing to apply white windows on green examples. Is this an unusual or rare variant or a pre production sample or have I just led a sheltered life? :)

  23. If you look at the other listings he’s done one then copied and pasted it and inadvertently left the word diesel in it. I’ve made similar mistakes.
