  1. 8.95! I need to up my spares prices or they need to be more realistic with theirs!
  2. They do a rather impressive 1/87 scale tower crane! I wish I had a valid use for it!
  3. I’ve seen you refer to that move a few times when discussing models. We should crowdfund an archaeology dig for the rarities. Sorry for the loss, I bet it still smarts a decade on.
  4. Love the pic of your childhood train set. We need more of these nostalgia pieces! Maybe a thread. I’ve got some somewhere.
  5. The charity option is a good call. Bikes on the used market often disappoint the seller…
  6. Ah okay. In theory removable if it’s printed then. What technique do folks advise to remove printed plates or numbers etc? I don’t know why they couldn’t leave it blank and let the buyer choose whether to glue plates on or not….
  7. 86235 arrived with a pantograph that would not stay down, wired in reverse so it went the opposite way to my other stock and was a terrible runner. Seller accepted a return. Oh well….. The new chassis was a good item and a railfreight grey body 86504 has given me another 86 as hoped.
  8. Is it printed or an etched item do you know? I haven’t seen one in the flesh. It’s all that “2005” nonsense that makes it unusable even as a might have been.
  9. I keep umming and ahhing about buying the Bachmann rail freight class 85. I know the beasts never ran in that colour but the era region and class are otherwise right for my layout. What stops me is the annoying nameplate on it!
  10. I agree the 99p start makes them attractive for the bits at least.
  11. A North British modernisation plan locomotive at 31 years old still in service! Rare as hen’s teeth!!
  12. A fiver a wagon plus postage is not ridiculous I agree, and is the going rate at model shops. The madness is they are mostly brake vans and this is in the same category as the job lot of rerailers a few posts back!
  13. Hi. Not aimed at you or anyone specifically. Wanting Hornby to thrive and thinking TT is a good idea is not intertwined! I bought a small record player from Argos out of curiosity. A nice retro briefcase design from Bush for about £30! Went through a huge pile of dusty records and picked out some gems to keep as a novelty and the rest will probably go to a charity shop rather than bother with eBay. They were mostly soul funk disco reggae and pop. I’ll give you an earworm free of charge! “ooh I’m going to Barbados” (the inspiration for the Ibiza song a few years ago…)
  14. Back as a child I collected Diecast cars of the matchbox and hot wheels etc size and I regarded Siku as an exotic luxury only available in posh toy shops! Always at a slight premium…
  15. I’m actually glad TT is succeeding though as I’m not one of the anti-Hornby brigade. Thought you may appreciate my new listing, inspired by this thread 😊
  16. Siku is actually a premium toy brand so that’s a good price.
  17. There are already a few UK outline card kits resized to TT on eBay including some very useful ones such as Lidl supermarkets etc (other grocers are available)
  18. A search on eBay of “1:120 scale” turns up lots of random items that are already suitable to individualise an otherwise pure Hornby layout. A lovely range of buses for example.
  19. It’ll attract a reseller I expect. He’s not going to get seven times the value of one precisely for the reason you state.
  20. Interesting to read this as both a buyer and seller.
  21. I actually like it as a scenic feature and it would be a talking point!
  22. I agree it looks suspicious. However, you don’t need proof from the recipient as tracking from the carrier will show delivery or otherwise. With Evri and Royal Mail anyway. I’m sure it’s the same for others.
  23. The Hornby class 86 235 Novelty in intercity executive for £49. Has caused frothing in the wanted section among electrification fans the past two or three years. Prices have fallen from 100-80-60 to this level which bucks the trend. Probably the plethora of Heljan releases. I just like the later Chinese Hornby models as they run great and tolerate sharp depot curves. This is my third now. First is in use. Second and third have been/ will be used as chassis donors to remotor one of the many Margate examples. First was an RES one and the next will be a railfreight grey example. The Novelty body will be available if anyone is interested. Also picked up one of the last 86 chassis with the railroad class 90 type motor for 45. I can pick up another Margate bodyshell for about 20 and yet another 86 for £65!
  24. He didn’t like how it turned out so is starting again! That’s the baseboard showing through…
