  1. There’s no such thing as a class 69! It’s clear that GBRf have applied Rule One!
  2. One of those wonderful chance survivors that lasted many years after the others went to the cutters torch. Sadly didn’t survive although a similar class 126 set does.
  3. Is it the modern style with reasonable slow running as used in the Bagnall? If so then 12.59 is an epic bargain and I bet plenty of people in this thread will be snapping them up!
  4. Replacing the wheels with smooth ones to provide smoother running gives the dock authority lots of potential for freelance or other locos. There’s an excellent such example in the Pugbashing thread. Although fictional, the NBL-esque body gives it plausibility.
  5. Mighty Lancer has one small cabinet of Hornby so nothing of note, although it does sell modelling essentials such as paints and glues. Croppers is decent enough and a traditional shop but seemed lighter on stock possibly a covid hangover and recession impact. Bought a Wickham trolley though
  6. One of my regular eBay searches is 1/75 scale 1/77 scale etc as it turns up interesting oddball sources of 00 scale-compatible stuff and these Tomica offerings turn up from time to time Edit. Wow! They are all seriously expensive!!
  7. You’re probably right Bernard as I Googled this set of cars and found an archive eBay listing for the full set (sadly no pictures) and that says GT70. it only sold for 9.50 or so too grrr 😊
  8. The irony being they offered loads of iconic British cars of the era in 1/86!
  9. I’m surprised they didn’t make it in 1/87. I understand the uniformity of scale but they made the Strachan bus to around TT scale so they had form. I can’t recall if the Strachan bus was 1/120. If so it’s a nice link between the old and new for anyone doing a new TT120 layout :)
  10. Spot on. Did that for a buyer last week. Also protects us both if anything goes awry as it’s through eBay still.
  11. It’s been withdrawn from sale so looks like they listened.
  12. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/234812822842?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=fqbly-B8SJa&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=fPrBGeR6QDO&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY We have had TT3 and 00 so I’ll keep the theme going with H0 (well except the interloping coach.
  13. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/255888130406?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=0X1cXthGRTO&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=fPrBGeR6QDO&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY ouch again! Different scale same delusion…
  14. It’s actually very reminiscent of those old Hornby track plans books designed precisely to get as much track in as possible! I think I have the 1978 one.
  15. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/266048470272?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=y8EYw3WjQtC&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=fPrBGeR6QDO&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY ouch!
  16. That is exactly why! I think because we have our favourite classes in our conscience and encounter them all the time on our layouts it is easy to forget that in the wide world out there they are a thing of the past…
  17. Indeed. Aware of the reasons. The chance of getting OLE for heritage lines is as close to zero as possible for the patently obvious reasons of safety! Is there only 1 86 now? Assuming 259. 101 and 401 retired? Which is the 87? 002? Nice that a couple of 90s are retained in heritage condition.
  18. Was reflecting on this thread earlier. I was 13 in 1989 and grew up in NW England so these ACs were everywhere back then. How many now? One each of AL1 to AL5 all stuffed and mounted. Three or so mainline registered 86s. Any 87s? Even the then-brand new 90s have faced inroads. 303s one left, no 304s. I know it’s the same everywhere but still quite sad.
  19. Keep posting, most of us don’t mind and it’s at least on-topic rather than the ramblings we’ve all been doing this past many many pages!
  20. In most cases totally agree but the problem is joe public genuinely associates Hornby AS train sets not like. “Reebok like Nike” for example where people have brand identities. I get round it and more honestly by saying “FOR Hornby as similar train sets” if selling (for example) some buildings by Metcalfe.
  21. Or.,.,. Just use the GWR liveried Syphon with a tiny bit of Carrs…. 😎
  22. Well whatever it was I had a Lima one in that colour. Yes it’s GWR so yes probably not! But if so what is it? It’s way too uniform to be dirt.
  23. Bug hotels are actually a real thing!
  24. Give up with the folk art you’re diluting the market.
